I like the author’s writing style and as I started this book, I felt positive about the story even as the plot takes some getting used to. There’s a point which I did not get, although the way Maddy is written, it’s almost easy to imagine that the behaviour made sense.
Maddy can see the future she would have with any man she allowed herself to get close to. This inexplicable gift/ curse helps her run away from possibly bad futures but when she starts to see a positive one, she decides to stick around and see where it goes. This is where the story gets sticky for me. I will not go into any further details, but suffice to say I expected more from Maddy than I got. Although the fact that I had expectations from a character might indicate something about the writing itself.
I have read a few books by the author and DNF one, so my reactions are all over the place. I found this to be a reasonably quick read and I would recommend the author and this particular book to anyone who finds the blurb interesting.
I received an ARC thanks to Netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

I can't say no to a Laura Pearson book. She has become one of my go-to authors and has the ability to tackle tropes that need talent to pull off - in this case, time travel. Well, are we calling ot that? Maybe not. Perhaps catching a glimpse of a possible future that your choices in the present could impact on. It's in a similar vein to Pearson's 'The Beforelife of Eliza Valentine'.
Laura has created a rich life and backstory for Maddy with a host of flawed characters around her. The narrative is heartbreaking at times with strong themes of family and friendship as well as opportunities. Maddy had me frustrated at times by her choices, but that made for good reading.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, staying up late to read it. It poses many questions and would definitely be a good contender for a book club. There's a good rhythm with tension and pacing and an ending that satisfies whilst leaving you wanting more. If you could see into your future, would you do anything to change it?

Really enjoyed this book - the second of Laura Pearsons that I've read.
The book follows an unusual theme that's both romantic and supernatural. Maddy gets glimpses into the future that she pieces together as she navigates the challenges of her life.
The characters are well written, the plot and pace keep you reading and the ending is satisfying.

Laura is fast becoming one of my favourite authors and I am always excited for the next book. I love the fantasy/magic style of her stories and how they give a sense of something else being out there. Either before we come in to being, or after we have gone. Books are quite often written in the past and the present yet this one is the present and the future. I enjoyed this book and would definitely give it a 4* rating but it wasn't my favourite one.
Thank you for the advance copy and I cannot wait for the next one.

I found this a very weak book with a character i didn't particularly like and a very thin plot, not much happening outside if the main plot. It was hard to keep reading as it wasn't that engaging.

I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.

I need to find out what Laura Pearson is putting in her books, because they are addictive. Just like her previous works, the author has created a unique plot with a touch of magical realism and a lot of emotion.
Maddy faces a conundrum, where every time she is intimate with someone she sees what her life would be like 10 years in the future with them. After multiple bleak futures Maddy swears off relationships, that is, until she meets Oliver. Oliver is Maddy’s perfect match in every way. He understands the demands and pitfalls of her career and when she sees their future in 10 years, for once it looks bright and hopeful.
Laura's characters always feel so realistic and this book is no different. The supporting characters don’t feel like quick add-ons, and even relatively minor characters feel well fleshed out. Besides the main plot, there are other themes packed into the book. Maddy’s family and their struggles after a life altering event just adds to the realism of the story and overall depth.
The writing flies by and is fast paced without it feeling like you are missing out on important details.
And for those who are worried that a book with a plot effectively surrounding sex may have many explicit scenes. I can guarantee that these are closed door/ fade to black scenes.

One Liner: Good contemporary romance
Synopsis : Maddy Hart, a 26 year old struggling actor always gets visions of her future with the person she is having intimate relations with. These visions are scary to her and makes her break up with the person she is seeing and because of this she has almost swore off of dating. She meets a cute and nice guy Oliver at a Christmas job in the mall and due to unforeseen circumstances ends up being his roommate. The charming and good guy might end up being the one for her and even the visions about future tell her that she might have hit the lottery. Unfortunately there are no free lunches and she needs to validate and see if she needs that future at any cost.
My thoughts:
The book has a very different premise and I haven't anything like this till now. I have read one book by this author (The Last List of Mabel Beaumont) and had liked it. This book was not an exception either. I enjoyed reading this "different" book. The language is simple, the thoughts of the female main character and her friend is also simple and straight forward owing to their ages. Oliver is kind of a boy friend which most of the girls want to have. At one point it felt like he was too good to be true lol.
The addition of Maddy's family (mum, stepdad and brother) was really nice. It added so much depth to Maddy's character. Maddy's bff Priya's character is also developed well. A real friend for life. None of the secondary characters are ignored including the cat Marjorie. The timelines in the book between current and future has been handled very well. There is absolutely no confusion in that. The best part of the book is the breezy writing, it makes the story go faster. Shorter chapters was really a bonus
I do have couple of grouses about the book. I couldn't really connect with Maddy or her decisions at times. She seemed too immature for her age. A struggling actor living away from her family cannot afford to be that immature.
And my second grouse is about the ending. I am not sure if I really liked it or not. Somehow couldn't wrap my head around it.
All in all liked the book for the premise and the writing. My heartfelt thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood books for the digital ARC. The review is my honest opinion of the book.
My rating 4*

I love Laura Pearson's books and this was no exception.
An interesting concept which was carried through well. I wanted everything to turn out ok for Maddy and wanted her 'happy ever after', so obvi6the character mattered. That, for me, is the sign of an enjoyable book and sometimes that's just what I need. The right book at the right time.

“Would you destroy your present so you could have a perfect future”
A tender story of a classic “boy meets girl romance” but with a magical twist
Beautifully written, both emotional and engaging, making you ponder how one decision/event can alter your life path
Maddy and Oliver will stay with you long after finishing the book
Thanks @laurapauthor @theboldbookclub & @netgalley for the magical read

Thank you Boldwood and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
A cosy, enjoyable read taking us into the life of Maddy Hart who has an unusual ability to see ten years into future. This ability has a huge impact on her romantic life and the reader gets to peek into the impact this has on Maddy,
This magical realism book was an enjoyable escape. I really enjoyed the unique concept of this book.

I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book from Rachel's Random Resources.
There seems to be a lot of time travel fiction around at the moment, but this is definitely one of the best that I've read. Despite every other chapter being a switch in decade, it was very clear and easy to understand what's going on. I must admit that I did have concerns that Maddy was in a way using Oliver to get to the future, but her decisions towards the end of the story made me content that this was not the case. Also, perhaps she came back for the 50p glasses of Chardonnay in the pub!
This novel covers a lot of themes, but all were done sensitively and I felt the characters were really well written and developed. In some ways it reminded me of One Day by David Nicholls, one of my favourite books of all time.
My favourite quote: "It is our greatest fear, that something is wrong with us. With our bodes, our brains. We are obsessed with it."

The Many Futures of Maddy Hart is another wonderful book by Laura Pearson. As always the cast of characters are ones you immediately warm to and want to spend time with, whilst reflecting on the important things in life. A heart warming and unique look at what would you do if you knew your what your future held.

I look forward to new release books from Laura Pearson as they are a fabulous read every time. This book was no exception, and I totally enjoyed it.
A thought provoking book, likeable characters, and from the offset this was written so well that it captured my interest.
I like the writing style, how it covers sensitive issues well, how it relates to humans and their natures in easy to understand language, thinking outside of the box book.
Loved it.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Publisher for an advanced e-book copy. Opinions about the book are entirely my own.

I am not sure if magical realism would be the right phrase to use here, but I think it fits the book perfectly. This was such an interesting concept and the plot was well thought out with lots of real characters. I wasn't a huge fan of the ending, but I can understand whyit ended the way it did.
The charatcers were very real, except I kept picturing Maddy as being around 22 instead of 26 as she was a bit immature for her age, but other than that I really enjoyed everything about this book. It felt like a perfect little escape from reality.

When teenage Maddy had sex for the first time she saw the future with the boy she was with, and it was not something she wanted. And it was not a one off experience. Every time she is with a man she sees ten years into her future with him. An adult now, she has never had a relationship because she has never found an appealing future, until Oliver. But there are parts of their future together she can’t quite understand and piecing them together might destroy the relationship they have in the present.
@laurapauthor has become one of my favourite cozy authors. Always providing an interesting concept to explore love and relationships. This was no exception. How much would you change if you could see the future? This delightful book hits shelves Feb 4 2025
Thank you to @netgalley and @theboldbookclub for letting me review #themanyfuturesofmaddyhart in exchange for getting to read it a little early.

Well the premise was Maddy Hart could see the future, interesting naa? Tho it has a catch. she should be having sex with that person and during this she finds herself transferred into 10 years in future and what it looks like with him. The idea behind it was definitely odd but exceptional.
The way I am pulling towards magical realism these days hehe, it’s not funny anymore.
And can we talk about the cover? This has no reason to be this pretty.
‘You know how my character is reincarnated, over and over again, and has a different love in each life? I mean, of course you know. You are the love of all my lives.’
My thoughts:
Initially it started off strong but halfway it got predictable and the ending? Abrupt and underwhelming. I thought in the first half it could be a solid 4 stars but idk where it went wrong.
The narrative was intriguing and the concept of altering your present to change your future was cleverly written. But the plot holes and underdeveloped scenarios didn’t work well with me.
Mrs. Aziz and Henry were my favorite side characters. I loved how meaningful their presence was in the book. Ngl every character has their own significance but these two have my heart. I wanna give the biggest hug to Henry. The disability rep in this book is my favorite thing about it.
Thanks to the author, Laura Pearson, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley for the ARC.

I think it would be kinda cool to be able to get glimpses of ten years in the future though it brings the question of fate or destiny and could you change it by different actions or are you making it come true because you saw it that way? Maddy is the lucky character in this novel with that extra glimpse and throughout the novel, made choices to get to that one future she liked though she did struggle with letting others know (even Priya who is the most awesome best friend) when it might affect them too. But I loved how she tried to make the best decisions and the sacrifices she made to direct the path to include her lovely possible future daughter. This is such a sweet and a little heartbreaking book full of mostly wonderful characters that are easy to love (like Oliver, and Maddy's brother and family) with the exception of Charlotte though the future Maddy wanted had to include her. I do like how those glimpses also were able to prepare Maddy for what was to come so she could be strong and supportive and also find fulfillment in love, her career, and her life.
So, this is a good book with likeable characters, a cool storyline and a very satisfying ending.

Laura Pearson’s The Many Futures of Maddy Hart is a beautifully written, thought-provoking read. The novel follows Maddy Hart, a woman whose life has been shaped by an unusual happening which leads to a series of pivotal moments and decisions, each of which has the potential to change her future in unexpected ways.
This book is different, but typical in what I expect from this author – I always know I will get a great, interesting take on things. The story delves into various possible futures for Maddy, each reflecting different paths she could take based on the choices she alone can make. This keeps the reader intrigued as they follow Maddy through alternate scenarios, each one offering a new perspective on her life and the consequences of her actions. It made me consider how I would respond in a similar situation and how it must weigh heavy on you all the time.
Maddy is a great character, she’s relatable and completely likeable. Maddy’s struggles, desires, and personal growth resonate with how everyone struggles and must learn as they work their way through life. The book also does an excellent job of exploring themes like regret, ambition, and the search for meaning in life, without ever feeling preachy or contrived.
Ultimately, The Many Futures of Maddy Hart is an insightful and poignant novel about the power of choices and the roadmaps of our lives. Pearson has created a story that is both heart-wrenching and uplifting, making it a brilliant read. Perfect for fans of character-driven stories.

I LOVE Laura Pearson's books! She never fails to amaze me with her creativity. I enjoy the characters as they're always relatable. They're the type of people you'd live to sit and chat with. I especially appreciate Pearson's ability to make me think about situations in completely new ways. Thanks #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks #LauraPearson
