Breaks my heart to do this but I have made the decision to DNF this at 40%.

This is such a cool concept and cool idea but I just am so bored. The pacing is so slow, too slow for my liking, with barely any character development or progression through the story.

There are three MMCs and having only met 1 at this point in the story, I am just struggling to see where it could go and how the story could end.

I may come back to this in the future, and I definitely think there are readers out there that will love this book and will give it 5 stars - I just don’t feel a connection with the story and am too bored to reasonably continue.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read, rate and review this book!

It started out very strong for me. I loved Laila’s relationship with her friends and really loved the idea of a “Love Intervention” along with a checklist of things to complete.

Let me tell you, I was getting pretty frustrated at these guys. The years in between their encounters originally seemed to have mature them, but as the love intervention progressed, they still just seemed like immature pricks that put on a good face in that honeymoon phase. Of course this wasn’t the case for all 3 of them but it was obvious which one was always the mature one.

The connections she made along the way and the ending I found so sweet. I loved seeing her come to terms with such a tumultuous past through this journey.

A feel good read that I recommend if you’re looking something a little more deep.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This was the first book I have read by Caroline Khoury and she did a wonderful job. She portrayed well developed characters - and they were all so important to this story. I appreciated the very real friendships, love/chemistry and family dynamics that were presented. Although this was the first book by Caroline Khoury I’ve ever read it’s sure won’t be the last.

Thank you to NetGalley for this free ARC. All views and opinions are my own.

“The Love Intervention” was the perfect fun, escapist read that I needed for the start of the year. I enjoyed reading about the main character’s journey towards a more fulfilling life as she traveled to various cities and reconnected with men from her past.

Beyond the romance, I also appreciated how the author highlighted themes of family, friendship, heartbreak and grief to make this a truly well-rounded story that truly touches the heart.

This was a great read! This book was quite emotional at times, but it was also quite sweet and fun to read. If you are a chemistry nerd like me then you will enjoy the chemical equations and little science facts that are in the book here and there.

Thank you to Netgalley and Caroline Khoury for giving me a digital copy to review.

Overworked Laila has burnt out and her friends step in with a plan, the Love Intervention. The plan sees her jet off around idyllic destinations to reconnect with 3 men she knew in university - the bad boy, the second-chance, and the friend. What I thought would be a light and fluffy romance ended up being a great look at family bonds, healing trauma and the importance of choosing the right friends.

I couldn't put this book down and found the writing style extremely bingeable. The first 50% of the book gave a good look at Laila's life and her reasoning behind the trip, whereas the second half of the book offers up twists and turns that I could not have expected, making this much more than a standard love square plotline.

Despite the twists, I thought the book had an extremely satisfying HEA, not only for our main character, but also a lot of the loveable side characters I had grown to love through the book.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Canelo for an ARC copy of The Love Intervention!

This contemporary romance found me at the perfect time, and as a result, I loved everything about it. I enjoyed the fact that throughout the entire Love intervention, you had no idea which way Laila was going to sway until later on when things were revealed that made the final decision so much more satisfactory. I loved the dynamic of the friend trio, as it is usually obvious that one person is the outsider with a duo, but this was not the case. I do wish that Jena's conflict was a bit more fleshed out, as I felt that Samira's conflict with her daughter and family was built up and we got a chance to see it more in the interactions with Laila's mother. I wish I got to hear more about how Jena's reflection on the Love Intervention impacted her as in one chapter she was thinking about it and in the next, she had made her decision, which is in contrast to the other girls fleshing out their thought process. I am giving this book a 4.25 stars!

I really enjoyed this book. The author did a wonderful job portraying well developed characters - and those were all so integral to this story. I appreciated the very real friend, lover and family dynamics that were presented. The book was relatable while also being a fun read.

I don't like to leave reviews for below 4 stars, but here we are.

This is a DNF. And I tried to give it a fair shake at 26% read.

What wasn't working for me:

The plot was less believable than most romcoms- and that's saying something as romcoms aren't exactly known for being true to life.

The story is very jerky. At times new chapters would begin with difficulty figuring out who, when, and where we were (which is fairly important in a book with flashbacks). Some of the phrasing or words used are atypical and send the connotation in a different direction. Scenes are fairly scant and lack the development of characters and narrative. Small details are thrown in at random.

2 stars

The Love Intervention by Caroline Khoury tells the story of a work-obsessed 30-year-old woman whose friends send her on a holiday to reconnect with some old flames and find love. The story was sweet, and I especially enjoyed the flashbacks to NYU.

I did feel like the book was trying to do too much. There was too much trauma in Laila’s past for her to realistically have worked through it so effectively in 3 weeks. I also didn’t love the concept of multiple love interests; it was obvious which we were supposed to root for, but we weren’t given the word count to fall in love with him the way I wanted to, since it was divided between three men.

That said, I mostly loved her friends. Mostly. And I loved Gregory. That relationship alone makes up for the lack of connections I felt elsewhere.

Overall, some great stories to be told, but should have been divided into two, or even three, books to do so.

I absolutely adore authors who write about professional women and women who aren't in their young 20s. It makes the story much more relatable. This story was cute to read and made you laugh out loud sometimes.

An exceptionally well written tale of 3 best friends Samira , Jena and Leila who is such a workaholic is verging on a breakdown so her two best friends decide to have a ‘love intervention’ . Laila has discovered there is an investigation at work due to an error having been and is forced to have 3 weeks annual leave due to her.
She the set off to America on a journey to find love and meets up with 3 old flame she met whilst attending NYU.
A fast moving tale there are fabulous characters , many twists , questions and answers as the story unfolds many not as you would expect, whilst Laila gets answers to questions regarding her life didn’t realise she needed or wanted . An unexpected page turner

Thank you for this ARC of this story! The Love Intervention was compelling, dynamic, and fun. The story moved fast and kept my interest the whole time. There were quite a few bombshells that truly shocked me- all aiding in keeping me glued to the page. Overall can’t wait to read more from Khoury.

The main character's journey intrigued me, especially as she navigated the complexities of falling in love. Despite having a successful career, she’s a workaholic with a sad past and a difficult present. Her task is to have fun with three of her exes, which she does—until she no longer enjoys it.

While the story was engaging, I felt the author didn’t evoke as much emotion as I hoped. The pacing seemed rushed, and although nothing about the plot was necessarily bad, the family dynamics didn’t quite resonate with me.

One of the highlights, however, was the portrayal of female friendship. Even though some parts were a bit unbelievable, the bond between the characters added a special touch. Overall, it was an enjoyable read, but more emotional depth would have made the characters and relationships more compelling.

This book was well written and I felt as if I was there with the characters and could imagine it - it’s like being there in person or being a fly on the wall. The story also wasn’t predictable, in a good way, my gues to who Laila ende with was wrong so the story keeps you interested! My only critique is that the end seemed a bit rushed and sloppy and some of the characters seemed to be a bit immature - it felt like it was tying to wrap up loose ends quickly. However, it was such a great read and flowed very well! Excited to read other books!

Thank you to NetGalley and Canelo for this ARC.

This was a fun story starring a workaholic FMC that goes on a trip around the world to revisit 3 men from her past. I was immersed in the book immediately and couldn't wait to find out which man would be "the one." It also featured strong female friendships and complicated family dynamics. This was my first book from this author, but definitely not my last

Caroline Khoury’s The Love Intervention is a fresh and heartwarming romance that explores friendship, love, and the surprising ways life can change when you least expect it. With an engaging cast of characters and a unique twist on traditional matchmaking, this story is both entertaining and emotionally resonant.

The protagonist’s journey is both relatable and inspiring, as she navigates the ups and downs of her personal life with the help (and occasional interference) of her closest friends. Khoury writes with warmth and humor, effortlessly drawing readers into the characters’ lives. The dynamics between the friends add a layer of authenticity, making the story feel vibrant and real.

The romance is sweet and slow-burning, with plenty of heartfelt moments and just the right amount of tension. Khoury’s ability to weave deeper themes of self-discovery and the value of true connections into the narrative adds depth to the overall story.

While some parts of the plot are predictable, the charm and sincerity of the writing more than make up for it. The Love Intervention is a feel-good novel perfect for fans of romantic comedies and stories about finding love and friendship in unexpected places.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
