Really loved this book! The perfect conclusion to a seriously good series and I can't wait to get more from this author!

2 tragic stars.
The audiobook is very well read.
This second book in the series is written as a hot sapphic fantasy with dragons. As with the first book in the series, the world-building and writing are exceptional.
Sadly, the phenomenally kickass main character’s love interest did not, in fact, die in the first book (like I was really hoping she would). Neither did Des emotionally grow up enough to realize that she deserves more and/or that boundaries might be a healthy thing 🫣 She falls even deeper into trauma- AND guilt-fuelled codependency, and her well-being and emotional maturity suffer even more. It’s tragic and too sickening to have allowed me to enjoy the story at all. Plus, Liz is so traumatized that she drives their relationship into repeated horror.
It’s unfortunate that a series with so much promise ended up cringe-inducing. I just cannot enjoy fierce, amazing mains be continuously sabotaged by such a vile, narcissistic love interest without EVER reaching towards personal/character growth and emotional maturation. It all really made me hate the whole story/series.
I just hope that this author can create something else with equally great world-building, writing, a wonderfully fiery femme or non-binary main - but one that evolves over the course of the storyline. The author has talent - I just want you to read something without the never-ending, trauma-fuelled codependency lacking all emotional intelligence.
Huge gratitude to Netgalley and the publisher, Dreamscape media, for an audio-ARC in exchange for my (way too honest) review.
I have held my review back several weeks, in hopes that if I am the only one who felt this way that my review will be drowned by better ones. Kickass Sapphic dragon fantasy definitely needs to be a thing!!

I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.

I liked the story and the narrator was great, but it was too slow for my taste. I'm not sure I will try the next book.
Still, it is interesting and I had a nice time.
Thank you for this ARC!
