I really enjoyed this one. It was hard to put down. It kept me wanting more. The characters are amazing! And I love the title and the story line. Such an amazing book!

Nobody’s Fool by Harlan Coben is book two in the Detective Sami Kierce series. This is my first book by Harlan, I’m hooked and will be reading all his books!! If you like mysteries, suspense, twists and turns, and sarcasm then you will love this book!!
Victoria Belmond was missing for 11 years until one day she showed up in a diner and wouldn’t say a word and no memory of where she’s been. Sami Kierce was a former cop who got into a lot of trouble and after being discharged from the force is now a private investigator. He also teaches a college detective class. Sami finds out that the man who murdered his fiancée is getting out due to a technicality is on a mission to put him back. This mission leads him down a path of finding a woman named Anna who ghosted him when he was backpacking through Spain with his friends from college. He almost went to jail for a murder he didn’t commit and he later finds out she never died. This book took me on so many twists and turns I didn’t want to put this book down. This book made me laugh a lot too Sami’s sarcasm and sense of humor added so much to this book!! I have now become a huge fan of Harlan’s books!! This is a must read and I cannot recommend enough. Thank you to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.

Harlan Coben has always been a go-to read for me because of his fast-paced, easy thriller reads. Nobody's Fool was no different. I really enjoyed the story line, which had some twists along the way, and the characters were well developed. Overall, it was a great read that kept my interest.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy.

It started off pretty slow and some parts stayed that way, but it did get better later on. The plot twist really surprised me!! I didn’t see it coming at all, which made it more fun to read. Some of the characters were interesting, and the story kept me curious enough to finish quite quickly !

This was so good! I didn’t read the first in this series but I don’t feel it’s necessary to enjoy this book. That being said, you’ll want to go back and read the first after you finish this one. I really liked the characters, especially Sami. The mystery was well done and interesting. I enjoyed every minute of it!
I both listened to and physically read this book. I loved the narrator! His voice was enjoyable to listen to, had good pacing and enhanced the story.

Sam once had an affair that ended badly. In fact, it ended so badly he retreated from his backpacking trip in Spain back to the United States. It was likely the unsolved mystery of his life. One that he feared the answer to. He had wakened with a bloody knife and a dead body and fled back to his father's safe- keeping. Years later Sam is a bit down on his luck as a private detective and is teaching a class on sleuthing. One night a primary character from those days shows up in the back of his classroom. Sam unsuccessfully gives chase. What follows is a class project bent on solving the mystery. No doubt this is the beginning of a series. I love Harlan Coben and this book was good but not quite as good as some of his others...but that is a high bar. I will eagerly anticipate the next adventure of this Sam. Thanks to #NetGalley#Nobody'sFool#HarlanCoben for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.
Sami Kierce is teaching a night class when his long-ago girlfriend appears and then runs away. The only problem is that the girl has been dead for 20 years! How can this be?
Sami is a disgraced detective who is teaching a course in private detection to make a living. He uses his best students to help him investigate and solve this very cold case.
I enjoyed following the trail as it is uncovered and look forward to future cases. This book reads well as a stand-alone.

No one does suspense and mystery like Harlan Cobwn. With a very astounding cast of characters and a compelling crime, you are quickly drawn in to the plot. Not to be missed.

I had only watched Harlan Coben's Netflix series so far, this was my first book of his. I expected more from this book. The premise didn't hold a strong curiosity factor for me but I dived in anyway. However I was absorbed and flew through the first couple of chapters In the middle it felt too dragged on. But the ending was the most disappointing. One of the twists (the one regarding VB) was kind of obvious and the other at the very end just came out of nowhere without any explanation. It felt flat.

Nobody’s Fool (Detective Sami Kierce #2) by Harlan Coben 👨🏫👨🏫👨🏫
I would like to thank NetGalley, Grand Central Publishing, and Hachette Audio for providing me with an advance e-galley and an advance audio-galley in exchange for an honest review. Look for it now in your local and online bookstores and libraries.
I liked this book, but I was super confused by one thing. This is the second book in a series, but it had absolutely nothing to do with the first book. There’s not even a Sami Kierce in the first book (Fool Me Once). I don’t get, and it was annoying. It can definitely be read as a standalone. The audiobook was standard fare. I enjoyed it.
“Everyone has hopes and dreams, I thought, which also means that everyone has a backstory. Every human you meet is a novel different from every other.”
— Harlan Coben, Nobody’s Fool

I ended up really liking this. The pacing was a little bit off at times but I loved that every time I thought I had it figured out, we would get some new information and I would have it totally wrong. It definitely kept me on my toes which is what you want in a thriller.

Another suspenseful novel from Harlan Coben. When Detective Sami Kierce was young, he backpacked with a friend in Europe. He a fling with a young woman who ended up dead and all evidence pointed to Sami even though he knows he isn't responsible. Years later, he sees the woman he believes is dead. Now, he must track her down and make sense of the past.

Thank you to both netgalley.com, as well as Grand Central Publishing for an advanced reading copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
I give this book a solid 3 to 3.5 stars.
I have always enjoyed Harlen Coben novels - he has a way to hook you in and get you involved in the novel quickly. Nobody's Fool is Coben's newest novel and certainly does have an interesting start. This is the second book in the Sami Kierce series - I missed out on reading the first one - but this book can be read as a "stand alone" novel. The novel begins with a flashback to Sami's post-college graduation days where he and his friends are backpacking across Europe. Sami remembers being in a nightclub in Spain and dancing with a young lady known as Anna. Sami and Anna hit it off - until one morning Sami wakes up to a bloody knife in his hands and Anna dead from knife wounds. Fast forward to twenty-five years later, and Sami is teaching a night class for want-to-be sleuths when in walks in Anna - or so it seems. Sami is shocked to see the girl he thought he killed in his classroom. And so starts Nobody's Fool....
Nobody's Fool was an interesting read, and certainly had my attention at the start. As the novel wore on, it began to get a little slow. Sami does have a number of friends who help him out - he is a disgraced NYPD officer who lost his job and is now a "for-hire" detective. - and his friends both on and off the force help Sami get to the bottom of this mystery. I enjoyed this novel and how it ended, but was hoping for a little more shock and surprise. Definitely a good read, but not quite the page-turner that I wanted.

As usual-- slick storying, interesting twists, a good ensemble or characters-- what else can a girl ask for?

Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy of Nobody’s Fool by Harlan Coben. It’s out now, so you can and should read it - particularly those who are ready for this well crafted sequel featuring Sami Kierce.
I’ll admit, this one took me a little while to get into, both because I had to reframe the setting in my head from the Fool Me Once Netflix show set in England, and because the start is not as fast paced / jump into the deep end adrenaline rush that I’m used to from Coben. That said, by the middle of the book I was racing through, picking it up at every chance to find out what happened.
Nobody’s Fool picks up a little after Fool Me Once left off, with Kierce teaching a community class in detective work and using his cast of student characters to investigate two cases: his late fiancée’s murder following the release of the man convicted for killing her, and the return of a missing woman to her posh family years after having disappeared - only Sami remembers her under a different name from a short and volatile trip to Spain in his 20s that upends his life plan.
There are Easter eggs for those who look and the typical love notes to NY / NJ sprinkled throughout. This wasn’t my absolute favorite of Coben’s - those are the Bolitar / Win novels - but it kept my interest and left me guessing until nearly the end. A solid outing, and I hope there are more featuring this protagonist. Four stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nobody’s Fool is classic Harlan Coben—fast-paced, twisty, and impossible to put down. The story follows former detective Sami Kierce, whose dark past resurfaces in the most shocking way. Just when you think you have it figured out, Coben throws in another curveball that keeps you guessing until the very last page. The mix of psychological suspense, emotional depth, and tight plotting makes this a standout thriller. If you’re a fan of Coben’s work—or just love a good mystery—you won’t be disappointed.
I would like to thank #NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the digital ARC in exchange for my review

Coben returns with another heart-pounding thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. This action-packed, twisty, and highly entertaining mystery showcases his signature humor while bringing back one of his unluckiest characters. Yes, I'm talking about Sami Kierce - born and raised in Jersey, of Pakistani heritage, fluent in Spanish, and a rule-bender in pursuit of justice.
We first met Sami in "Fool Me Once," which wasn't one of my favorite works by the author compared to his ten-starred series (give me a Myron Bolitar book and I'll disappear until I finish it - I cancel everything for Myron and Windsor). Thankfully, this time Coben brings out the big guns by introducing us to Sami's criminology class members: the Pink Panthers (imagine Golden Girls turned amateur detectives with perfect tracking skills), Gary the golfer, crime influencers (or as these wannabe podcasters call themselves, "Three Dead Shots"), the quick-witted Debbie the goddess (I wish she'd return in his next book), and Leisure Suit Lenny with his mysterious gadgets. If Amazon and Netflix decide to adapt this book into a series, these characters will surely steal the show!

I’ve read a lot of Harlan Coben and I think this was my favorite one. I really liked the characters and how it ended up being wrong the whole time. You really didn’t know who this missing girl was going to be and what she remembered about her life.

I was introduced to Detective Sami Kierce by watching Fool Me Once on Netflix. What a wild miniseries that is. When I noticed that Sami is the main character of Nobody's Fool, I knew I wanted to read the first Harlan Coban book I've ever read.
I want to thank Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for my copy of the book. This is my own unsolicited opinion.
I was surprised right away that the setting is in the U.S., not the UK. I like that fact.
Months after the terrible personal devastation and investigation which led to Sami Kierce losing his job with the police department he is working as a private detective. He also has decided to teach a ragtag class of citizens how to be detectives. There are very interesting characters in the class.
Over twenty years ago Sami had his heart set on being a doctor. That is until he wakes up in a bloody crime scene with the victim, a young woman he had been seeing while on an adventure overseas. He ran home, his life never the same. One night, while teaching his class a woman walks in at the back of the room.
He recognizes her right away. It's the woman he thought he had murdered. Life changes again.
I thoroughly enjoyed the special 'investigative team' Sami pulls together from his night class. I appreciate the sarcastic humor throughout the story. I was concerned at how rough the language would be due to the Netflix dialogue and it's nowhere near as excessive. There's a lot of twists and turns that the author is known for.
Readers who enjoy suspense may find this a good read. I really like Sami's character.

I’ve never met a Harlan Coben book I didn’t like and this is no exception. This story pulls us into Sammi’s past when a summer in Spain 20+ years ago comes back to his present day life. There were so many twists that I never fully had it figured out until the end. Such a good albeit heavy story.
