Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC of this graphic novel. 3.5/5 stars.

First of all, THIS IS NOT FOR CHILDREN (if you couldn't tell from the title). It also has nude drawings in it. I also missed some of the dialogue because of formatting/quality issues of the arc...but overall it was good? It's definitely an interesting retelling of "King Arthur" type of myth with his daughter and Excalibur (Which is a she...and talks...and is sentient?). I also just...the plot at the end was ??????????? It was definitely interesting though...even if it felt like an acid trip for some of it.

I think the art really didn’t work for me in this one. Though, I have to say, its fit really well with the story, being a bit gross and dark in its humour. But, for me, it threw me off a bit. So it’s hard to rate.

Would recommend this for people who like their graphic novels with a bit of grit and nastiness, honestly. And a pretty weird story with some twists and turns that seems quite unreasonable. But mostly for people who likes their heroines not so neat and nice.

The story was interesting enough and the art style was a good fit for it, but it just didn't grab me as much as I'd hoped it would. I'm usually a big king Arthur fan, but this story was pretty far removed from the myths besides the names of some of the characters. There are absolutely people this would work for, especially if you want something Arthurian times that's both dark and goofy, but I personally wasn't a huge fan.

A gorgeous graphic novel that takes classic fantasy ideas about princesses and turns them on their heads. Ysa is a rough, relatable princess trying to avoid a forced marriage to a Baron. She and her father's magical sword end up leaving to avoid the nuptials and that's when all hell breaks loose! Expect moments of emotional intensity balanced out with hilarious comedic timing. The style and coloring captivated me.

Honestly, this one was just too dark and monstrous for me. I quit about a quarter of the way in, equally repelled by the narrative and the unsettling illustration style

This is an interesting story and the art style is a perfect match.
There is a certain horribleness to most of the people we meet, as well as the just about everything that happens.
Isabelle's journey is a series of bad lucks and disturbing revelations, and it all leads to a very dark place.
I quite liked the tone and the look of the book.
