Tropes: Why choose, Reverse Harem, hockey romance, college romance
Blurb: Charlotte Kingston is bearing down the weight of all of the expectations she is upholding and finds solace in a secret relationship with not one, but two hockey players to help release her tensions. How will the perfect Charlotte maintain her pristine campus status as she falls in love with two men and can't decide?
First and foremost - thank you to both @getredprbooks and @hambright_pr for an eARC and my first ever physical ARC (pending to come). I feel very spoiled and honored to have gotten this book in advance, much more in two versions! 🥺🩷
There are many reasons why I enjoyed this book and most of it is the relatability of Charlotte. She is burdened with her responsibilities and her image doesn't feel like she can ever let up and let her hair down, something I know many of us can relate to on some level. Charlie feels guilty for the ways she releases her tensions due to societal norms, and we're at the day and age where if she's not harming other people, it's none of my business! Choose your happiness!! 😤
Will and Beckett surprised me. I think we all expected Will to be the face of this relationship but did ya'll expect him to be the shotcaller in bed? (I sure as hell did not). I also loved the softer side of Beckett and I wanted to give a hug 80% of this book. The way they were also patient with Charlie and understanding of how she is slowly accepting their relationship was so admirable, because they kept protecting her every step of the way.
Btw - both Agatha and (especially) Mitch deserve warm pillows for life. And to stub their toe in every chair they see! 😙
Edit: I forgot to add - but the Dad Chat cameos and the Victorian fanfic added a level of humor I didn't know I needed in this book. Chapter 12 is so freaking funny!!!

This was such a perfect story that really encompassed so many things about college life, expectations, relationships, friendships and finding yourself. I really loved Charlie’s character!! Charlie seems so complex with her perfectionist personality to be the best sorority girl, daughter, friend for everyone. She really needs to feel free; she finds comfort and a wild side in Will and Beckett!! I loved that this book is done from the point of view of Will, Beckett and Charlie. Such a fun multi layered hockey romance college life book. I laughed, blushed and just overall really enjoy getting to know these characters.

Another hit by Elle Kennedy!
Charlotte Kingston is the ultimate sorority girl by day and a daring thrill-seeker by night, unknowingly chatting with two super-hot hockey players. (I think my Kindle almost melted at how hot these chats got!)
Will and Beckett have their own share of messy secrets, and the love triangle that follows is steamy, hilarious, and full of swoon-worthy moments. Elle Kennedy delivers her signature mix of humor, heat, and drama, making this third book in the Campus Diaries series an absolute page-turner. It’s the perfect combo of love, lust, and secrets—prepare to laugh, swoon, and maybe even let out a few giggles! So grab your snacks and get ready for a wild, heart-melting ride!

If Elle Kennedy writes it I’m gonna read it!!She is my hockey romance QUEEN!!This world that she has created has always felt like home.Ever since reading The Deal I always left so at home with these characters.Elle Kennedy knows how to create the most beloved books. So far I think this is her most spiciest book. Will and Beckett stole my heart from the very beginning.I knew I was going to be a Will girly after reading about him in The Dixon Rule.If one of them said “Our girl” one more time I swear I was going to melt into a puddle of nothing! This was my very first MFM and it did not disappoint.I am heart broken that this is the last book in the Campus Diaries series. But all things come to an end!Reading about Blake Logan makes me even more excited for her book!I cannot wait to see where Miss.Kennedy takes us next with this amazing universe!Thank you so much GetRed, NetGalley and Bloom books for an early copy! This is by far my favorite birthday present ever

In the same spirit of calling “Deep End” BDSM lite, I would label this as polyamory lite. For experienced MFM readers, this will be an easy read. The boys do not fall in love (so sorry to the MMF fans). But the level of conflict experienced by the throuple suits this literary universe and will push newcomers to branch out.
The most compelling storyline was Charlotte’s identity crisis as the adopted daughter of non-asian parents. Her overwhelming fear of being rejected is raw and relatable. The drama of finding her biological brother and the discrepancy between their upbringing was heartbreaking but honest. It’s lighter than Abby Jimenez’s “Just for the Summer” and results in a HEA.
I wanted more for the boys… okay i wanted them to fall in love 😂 but there is some development with Will embracing his ambition and Beckett overcoming his fear of attachment. They loved Charlie perfectly though. If you’re looking for MMCs who are observant, understanding, productive and supportive, this is a very healing read. No jealousy, only acceptance. In fact, they accepted each other so readily. What they had to learn was to accept themselves.

Oh we got double trouble alright but also… I am LOVING these deeper, more emotional books from Elle!!!
Buckle up because a LOT happens in this book and at almost 600 pages, I still devoured this so quick like it was nobody’s business. I already was obsessed with Will & Beckett so I was waiting for this book like my depended on it, and Elle delivered!!
This is an interconnected (multi series) MFM college hockey romance and deals with some deeper themes such as identity (this is the main one), belonging, grief, adoption, perfectionism, and many more. However, in Elle fashion, the humour and banter was top tier and a perfect way to ease tensions and lighten the mood in such a seamless and heart warming way. *cue the heated and hilarious text threads*
Back to the interconnected - if you love found family as much as I do, PLEASE do yourself a favor and read The Off Campus series, Briar U series, The Legacy and The Campus Diaries series (in that order) so you don’t miss out on all the nostalgic cameos because Dad Chat was on a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL. The main cameos are Mike Hollis (Briar U) and Blake Logan, who’s Grace and John Logan’s daughter (Off Campus #2, The Mistake), but ALL the boys make an appearance and the wives are also mentioned (shoutout to Rupi for still being our favorite absolute terror!!)
If you’re worried about the Why Choose aspect of this book, I personally feel like this is the perfect way to ease into the genre because it was actually very deep, emotional and filled with so much love and understanding and was very beginner friendly. Even the group spice was very mild in comparison to other why choose books so you’ll be well taken care of 🤭
And this is NOT to say the spice isn’t spicing because Charlie!!! I LOVE YOU!! It’s an Elle Kennedy book with cavemen hockey boys - so it’s DEF spicy!
Charlie is a perfectionist with 2 identities: Charlotte is a proper sorority girl, teacher’s pet, does everything to please her parents and everyone around her. In the shadows though, she’s Charlie: a carefree race driving woman who’s eager to explore things with 2 hockey hotties. Will and Beckett need no introduction, but I surprisingly cried at a massive Beckett revelation I didn’t see coming and a Will bomb that left me in shambles. Beware - this one is emotional! That being said, The Dixon Rule still keeps #1 spot in this series because I sobbed so hard I fear my heart never fully recovered. Oh and Gigi, Luke, Shane and Diana (gosh I love her) are back in this one so nobody was left behind.
Can’t wait to see what’s next in store for us!! 💕

Thank you Get Red PR for my ARC! So happy to be back at Briar!!! The Campus Diaries series is like a warm, cozy hug.
The Charlie Method is Kennedy’s hottest book to date, hands down. Charlie is one lucky, lucky girl. The spice was fantastic; no notes. Charlie was relatable and had a wonderful backstory. Will and Beckett are quite literally perfect.
Although the book was mainly fun, Elle expertly balanced the lightheartedness with some serious themes. I sympathized with Charlie’s family dilemmas, felt for Will’s struggles, and empathized with beckets’s confusion.
I perked up whenever Gigi, Diana, Blake, Ryder, or Shane popped up in my inbox. The group text messages were hilarious, as always!!

This book was perfect. I love how it captured the character's journey in dealing with their feelings about being a "throuple." This part of why-choose romance gets overlooked a lot in books and I'm so glad that Elle Kennedy was able to talk about those feelings, especially with Charlie. It added another layer to this already amazing book. This book was steamy and I'm not complaining one bit because the group scenes with Charlie, Beckett, and Will were off the charts...HOTTT!!!
This book is very bittersweet to me. This book was amazing but I'm so sad that this will be the last book in this series. I'm not ready to say goodbye to Gigi and Ryder, Shane and Diana and Charlie, Beckett and Will. (Also, all the Briar U and Off-campus characters). I am happy that they all got their happily ever afters and the love they deserved.
Elle Kennedy writes such amazing books and I am so grateful that I was able to read this book early! Huge thank you Netgalley and Getred PR for allowing me to receive this ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

The why choose part? Ate that shit up. SO MUCH. I honestly wanted to binge this book in 1 day but I of course hated that life and work had to pull me away constantly. I thought about Charlie, Will, and Beckett nonstop. I loved every scene, individual or shared.
Also in case it wasn't clear - it is MFM (me secretly hoping it was gonna be MMF BUT it is still good!)
That ending? Literally Elle why. Legitimately docking half a star for that 😭
So so thankful for Get Red PR, NetGalley, and Bloom for the ARC!!

This might be one of my favorite Elle books!! It was so good. She blew this out of the park. I could pf read so many more pages about all of them. I loved reading how they navigated their relationship and the ending!! Its a must read. I need more on these 3 and also cant wait to read whatever else comes next!! One of my favorite mfm. Dont miss out on this fun read!!

I am absolutely obsessed with Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus, Briar U and now, Campus Diaries series. I have to admit, I was slightly taken aback when I realized this book would be a throuple, but The Dixon Rule really set this up where I knew I needed to read The Charlie Method the moment I could. As always, Elle did an amazing job with fleshing out the characters and the relationships - I was rooting for Charlie, Beckett and Will every step of the way. This MFM romance was definitely a favorite read as of late for me and I’m sad that this is the finale of a series I’ve adored so much.

By finishing The Charlie Method I’m now all caught up on Elle Kennedy’s Briar U hockey world. This world brought so many wonderful characters and stories and I can’t believe there are no more. The Charlie Method is phenomenal and I can’t wait for everyone to read it when it comes out February 25, 2025. Charlotte really is an onion with so many layers as she struggles to meet everyone else’s expectations while trying to still be herself. Seeing how she is able to be so free around Beck and Will really brought her character to life even more. The core of their friendship and how they support each other was really well established in this story. I loved that we got to dive deeper into Will and Beck’s lives in this story. I hope Elle Kennedy writes more in this world in the future, but if it does end here then what a way to go out! 🥰

elle kennedy writes hockey romance that you can’t put down, and this next gen of the off campus/briar u series is so dang good.
charlotte is perfect. a smart stem student, sorority girl, good girl in her button up sweaters. but sometimes she wants to be charlie. a risk taker just looking for some fun that no one else can know about. and she definitely finds that in beckett and will, two briar u hockey players who couldn’t be more different from each other. will is the boy next door, sweet and reliable. beckett is all charm with playboy tendencies. but they all have secrets and baggage of their own.
the charlie method is fantastic. there are so many lighthearted fun moments that contrast with the deep emotional conflicts. it is a spicyyy mfm romance and i love the companionship and trust these three find with each other, despite the old and new hurts and heartbreaks. plus i am obsessed with their texts. the witty banter and tension is amazing.
a must read, along with the first two books in the campus diaries series!

I’ll start with what I liked…
-Charlie! I enjoyed her character and empowerment of women’s sexuality! She shoved the double standards right out the window!
-The spice was spicy! No denying that. Sexy all the way.
-cameos and mentions of previous characters had me giddy!
I adore Elle Kennedy!
She IS the Queen of hockey romances as far as I’m concerned and that’s not changing.
This though was my least favorite out of the three books in this series.
Hockey took a backseat to sorority life. And I prefer some male silly banter vs mean girls.
I honestly am so disappointed with the third act breakup. It just didn’t fit the story this time. It really made me dislike one of our MMC and I didn’t find his return redeeming at all. I could rant into how annoyed I am with this, but it is what it is. This left me with a negative taste in my mouth in the end.
I still love Elle Kennedy and will read all her hockey romances! This one just didn’t vibe with me.
I’m so incredibly thankful for the arc I received. This is my honest opinion.

Holy Moly, I think this is Elle Kennedy's steamiest book to date. This book packs so much plot into one story. Charlotte also known as Charlie has a lot of substance to her. She's adopted, trying to find her birth parents all the while finishing her college career and maintaining her standings in the sorority. Will and Beckett are classic Elle Kennedy hockey heroes. They are wildly different but work so well together. I liked each relationship on its own and together as a throuple. I enjoyed the commentary and thoughts about non-traditional relationships and the emotional processing it takes to be fully comfortable and happy with yourself. I loved that most of the Briar characters of books & series past make an appearance.
I have to admit, considering I am well outside my college years, I really related to Charlotte. She is struggling between these two personalities. There the one she shows the world and the self she shows only certain people. That is something I also struggle with. It is a great theme throughout the book that if you are comfortable with yourself, ultimately you won't care what other people think and won't take their thoughts into account whether it is finding your birth family, or being in a throuple.
One thing that threw me off was some of Charlotte's characteristics. She feels like she was written for the male gaze. She states her ex couldn't handle her overly active sex drive and she loves cars so much they turn her on. It felt weird. And even weirder was after all this focus on her car fetish in the first part, it never seems to be brought up again after like a third of the way through the book. It literally gave nothing to the story and could have been cut as this book is already pretty big at 500+ pages. Besides that, I really enjoyed this book. I had never really given a romance about a throuple a chance but this was a fun exploration about a taboo topic.
Read if you like an unconventional sports romance, with plenty of heat. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review. This book releases 2/25.

Thank you to NetGalley and Get Red PR for the ARC. I am so grateful!
First off, let me say that I love Elle Kennedy and the Briar U universe. Any excuse to return to campus and feel all the emotions that Briar U brings is welcomed. However, I have to be honest: this was my least favorite book in the Briar U universe.
One major issue I had with the book was that the Briar U magic just wasn't there. The male main characters didn't seem to care much about hockey, which felt more like a sideline plot than a central theme.
I did like the characters, but this book read more like a Hallmark movie—albeit one that involved spicy threesomes. The ending felt too cookie-cutter and far-fetched, in my personal opinion. A lot of the events in the book seemed random to me and just didn't make sense or come full circle.
That said, this is a fun read, and I do think Elle Kennedy fans will enjoy it. It just didn’t resonate with me in the same way as the other books have. The previous stories have embedded themselves in my heart and will stay with me forever, but this one didn't evoke the same feelings.
I loved the cameos from our original favorites (Coach Jensen's appearances always make me smile), and the dad chat among our OG characters had me giggling and kicking my feet.
I am begging and pleading for Blake Logan’s book, along with stories of our original characters' kids. I want the next-generation story of our favorite hockey boys' offspring SO badly!

"I have a secret—I didn't expect to like this book (which I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of). But, alas, I found myself not only liking it, but unable to stop reading it well into the early morning hours (we're talking *forcing* myself to go to sleep around 1 a.m.). The Charlie Method is the third in Elle Kennedy's interconnected Campus Diaries series and it centers around Charlotte, an over-achieving STEM student who also has a risk-taking side, a sort of alter-ego who she deems "Charlie." When Charlotte isn't studying or managing her sorority's finances, she's driving some seriously fast cars at a local track and chatting with two stars of the hockey team, Will and Beckett, who share a dating profile. This book is such a good time—from the throuple relationship to the Queen Elizabeth fanfic (yes, you read that right)—but it also doesn't shy away from issues like anxiety and challenging family dynamics, which make it entirely relatable.
Though this book is *technically* part of a series, they can each be read on their own, too—I read this as a standalone and had no issues following the plot. But if you want some good romance to hold you over until it releases on Feb. 25, I'd suggest digging into the first two, The Graham Effect and The Dixon Rule, which I plan to go back for ASAP."

Wow ! Someone who is not much interested in reading about throuples, this book will surprise you. Its so much more than that. After reading The Dixon Rule i was intrigued with how Will and Becketts book will be tackled and i should tell you it was done beautifully. Charlie, Will and Beckett had great character arcs, they each had their own subplots and i was equally interested in all of them.
This book is equally funny, witty and serious with excellent sexual tension and chemistry. Also it was great reading about our favorite characters from Briar U.

THANK YOU SO MUCH NETGALLEY AND GETREDPR AND BLOOM AND ELLE FOR THIS ARC AHHHHHH
dying dead deceased !!!!
This book is absolutely EVERYTHING to me!! One of my most anticipated reads and it didn’t disappoint. Elle Kennedy remains one of my top romance authors and comfort reads
First off, Elle blew this story out of the water. Writing from three POVs with complex feelings and backstories and lives, is hard, but she did a fantastic job. I’m literally floored with each characters development and the story itself.
I genuinely have never related to a story more. While Charlotte is Korean (I am Chinese) the adoption part of her character was so well written and something I related to so much. From the way it feels to grow up different, but to also have a loving family who supports you in all possible ways? That’s my life too. While I do think her DNA test came back with such quick results, it made sense with Harrison also being adopted. It was heartbreaking to read that his childhood wasn’t good like hers. I understood his anger and his frustration, but he should see a therapist fr. Charlie’s parents are amazing, never not being transparent but also validating that she belongs and she’s theirs. It was such an important plot to me and I’m genuinely grateful it was well thought out and respectful.
- [ ] People love found family tropes which is a bunch of rag tag random people who are each others family, but no adopting is means youre not really theirs? Fuck you stacey
Her sex life - first off fuck Mitch and his slut shaming frat boys. Jealous boys who unfortunately exist in the real world. I loved this development with Charlie. It felt very real to me because of how sex culture is. Luckily nowadays it’s not as taboo and insane to have two boyfriends. If I’m being honest, if I saw a woman with two bfs, I’d be cheering her on bc at least someone is getting it. Charlie’s journey to not be ashamed was truly amazing and I really loved how she grew more confident with her hot boyfriends.
Beckett and Will
I love them both! They were both so secure in what they want, in and out of bed. I love that we got more histories for both. Will’s story is sad and reminded me much of Garrett’s and Ryders (not great dad) and Beckett’s was actually gut wrenching. An additional gut wrench was Will’s decision to not move to Australia bc what the fuck? At the same time, I think it was good he had space but also it was kinda silly to have in my opinion. But not all paths to happiness are perfectly paved.
Spice:
WOWOWOW ok listen I don’t think I was truly prepared for the spice. The dirty talk? The CAR SCENE???? girl bye I want this injected in my veins. So steamy - readers will LOVE IT
Omg also the fanfic side side plot? DEVOURED!! Fanfic is also so relevant to my life and I love the journey that some writers choose from fanfic to publishing. Elle if you have any more chapters for Elizabeth and Alexander I’m really good at beta reading😂
Is this truly the last book for Briar U? If it is, I’d say it’s a perfect cherry on top. This second generation series following our OG Off Campus and Briar U couples was everything to me. I loved every cameo we got in the Charlie Method. My particular favorite was the Dad Chat 😂🩷. I will desperately miss this series and world, but am ready for whatever Elle writes next.

Charlotte, Beckett + Will
-mfm romance
-hockey romance
-dating app
-sorority girl
-sunshine/grumpy/sunshine
as expected…this was steamy, tension filled, thought provoking, & heartbreaking!! there was a complete twist i did not expect that had me gasping!! even *i* felt betrayed by this event…& then another twist just the same happened again & i couldn’t believe it!! but by the end it all worked out for the better & im happy to continue on with anything elle wants to give us!!
