A cute, quick-read romance with a few fun twists. I love that the author included a historical note - it's always nice when good research goes into the creation of a story like this. Thanks to netgalley for the arc!
This was a easy quick read. I loved the hero Oliver, he was sweet, broken but capable of healing. Kate was a bit naive but also strong. The storyline is not very developed since it was short but that did not take away from plot.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Imperfect Lyon, it was an excellent example of its genre. I would have enjoyed reading more, and found it a little short. I did find one missing punctuation (a sentence without a period), but no other typos. When Kate was reading Sense and Sensibility, I wanted to tell her to read Pride and Prejudice so she might realize she was allowing her pride to make a bad decision. Excellent character creation. The pacing was pleasantly quick, though I would have enjoyed reading a scene of Middlemarchs comeuppance, and perhaps another confrontation with him afterwards.
Oliver is a widower who lost his dear wife two years prior, Kate is a young woman who fell in love and was going to marry but her betrothed unfortunately passes away. Circumstances have put the two having to marry as soon as possible. They are both grieving when they meet at Mrs. Dove-Lyon's but fall for each other fairly quickly. I won't spoil anything, but not all is as it seems. Also the twist of who Kate's deceased betrothed actually was had me shocked. I loved this book, to me it was a good mystery with a beautiful second chance love story for both main characters.
The author has a very interesting historical note regarding her title- doctors referred to men who were infertile as "Imperfect Men". I'm always fascinated to see some of the research that authors do in order to come up with their stories!
Oliver is a widower with no children. Kate's betrothed has just died and she has discovered that she is pregnant. As fate would have it, both of them end up at Mrs. Dove-Lyon's notorious gaming hell, and she is an infamous match maker. The characters don't realize it yet, but all is going to be well if Bessie Dove-Lyon is on the case.
Kate and Oliver have great chemistry and fall in love pretty quickly and throughly. The marriage is rushed before Kate begins to show. They hit a snag when someone from Kate's past shows up and creates chaos.
The epilogue is fantastic and dare I say, "delivers." A great edition to the Lyon's Den series!
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.
