Fighting for Berlin is part of Katie Reus’ Redemption Harbor Security series. Berlin is a technology genius which showed early on in how she tracked down Chance Hendrix, an online gaming buddy. From there she uses her skills to help him as he hunts for a missing brother.

Even though these two have never met, they have a gaming history that made them friends, so technically this could be a “friends to lovers” story. Pack paced, action-packed and serious steamy story all at the same time. Family and team members show up which is typical for the Redemption Harbor Security agents. An entertaining story but be aware this series has the bedroom door wide open, including Fighting for Berlin.

I enjoyed this addition to the Redemption Security series alot. Berlin feels underestimated by team and over whelmed by her family. Her one outlet has lead her to a friend that is now in trouble. I love how often she surprised Chance with her abilities. And he was very accepting of her even when it rubbed his protective instincts. The story flowed well and I look forward to the next book.

I loved reading this story about Berlin and Chance. Berlin is a bit quirky and very intelligent and is very supportive of her friends. She decides to help Chance with finding his brother and along the way they encounter danger and the possibility of a relationship developing between them. Will they find his brother? Will they admit their growing feelings towards each one another? The story develops and draws you in. I would recommend this book. This is my honest opinion. I was given an arc from Net Galley. I truly enjoyed this story about Noah and Olive. They had a history that complicated their relationship. Olive came back home to help Katie and her son because Katie’s husband was in a coma. Noah and Olive are thrown together and aren’t happy about it. Katie was wonderful with her quirkiness. She had difficulty understanding social cues. I would recommend this book . I was gifted an arc from Net Galley but this is my honest review.

Take a Chance...

I liked that Chance was rescued by Berlin, his online hacker friend.
Berlin then is recruited by the MC Chance is in deep with, undercover, to rescue his brother. Boy, those two really do need rescuing. Fast paced, suspenseful and engaging.
Recommend.

Berlin, a hacker and PI, starts digging more into her gaming partners life and tracks him down. Chance is in the midst of looking for his brother in biker territory when his gaming friend shows up to bail him out of an emergency.

An online friendship has led them to real world problems

Berlin is a young woman with major hacking skills which she uses in her job at Redemption Harbor Security. It is her nature to protect those to whom she is close; she ended up doing most of the parenting of her younger sisters even before her wandering, hands-off parents died. So when an online friend, someone she met years earlier through VR games, goes silent unexpectedly she is concerned....and given the snooping she had done on this friend over the years, she has a pretty good idea of his true identity. Chance, a warrior who left the service earlier than expected due to injuries, has had a hard time adjusting to post-service life. He stays in touch with his former teammates but avoids getting together with them (too hard to be reminded of the life he has lost). His biggest problem currently is Enzo, the younger brother he left behind when he joined the military; it was the right move for Chance, but Enzo fell in with the rough crowd with whom Chance used to run and has now gotten involved with a rough biker crew. Enzo recently fell off the grid and Chance has gone undercover with the bikers to find him. Berlin shows up in time to get Chance out of a tough spot unscathed, and soon the two of them join forces to find Enzo. The biker gang is bad news, involved in drug running which Chance would have sworn Enzo would never touch, but they are also connected with a far more powerful and deadly group which may have gotten its hooks into Enzo. Berlin's team is none too happy about the situation into which Chance has gotten her but show up to have her back...and if they have any hope of finding out what happened to Enzo and staying alive in the process, they need all the help they can get.
In this fifth installment of the Redemption Harbor Security series the plot follows the usual formula....smart, sassy heroine with skills connects with hot guy also possessing talents, both try to ignore their chemistry given the baggage in their respective backgrounds until they...can't. Characters from previous installments appear, but a reader needn't have read the previous stories to enjoy this one. The RHS group is all about going up against the bad guys regardless of the odds if it is what is needed to protect those who have run afoul of said villains. Its an enjoyable, quick read for romantic suspense devotees. Fans of author Katie Reus's other books will enjoy this latest entry every bit as much as its predecessors, and readers of authors like Rebecca Zanetti, Alexandra Ivy and Susan Stoker will be pleased if they give this a try as well. Many thanks to NetGalley and KR Press LLC for allowing me early access in exchange for my honest review.

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book

its always good to get into a good series and then see past characters make appearances and this book is full of them

berlin is the eldest sister and feels responsible for 3 other sisters.... she has been their caregiver for so many years that as soon as one calls for help she is there.... letting go is her problem.... but its a nice problem to have

she is also a ferocious hacker and can get into most things she puts her mind to

she is also a gamer and likes nothing better than to spend her off hours gaming with her online mate... who for some reason has gone dark....

chance is looking for his brother and the ties to some very bad gangs lead chance to try and navigate and find out where his brother is.... what he wasnt expecting when he broke into a place to find evidence of his brother was the gang to come back early .... he climbs out of the window but not before detection and hes on the run... so when a car pulls up and theres a shout to get in.... the lesser of two evils.....

what hes not expecting is... its a woman and also that its his gaming buddy who he hadnt realised was female...

a lot of shocks along the way but this has high energy and a lot at stack making it hard to put down... as always when you read this authors books

Finally another in the Redemption Harbour series! It was nearly six months, so I started to miss the gang! Berlin is an awesome hacker, working for Red Stone security. When one of her online game buddies goes missing, she decides to track him down and help him out. Chance is trying to find his brother, who went AWOL and chance is pretty sure he is in over his head, since he was dabbling with some shady characters. Imagine his surprise, when he is in a sticky situation, to be rescued by a gorgeous feisty woman. Who also claims to be his badass Online VR buddy for years. Chance thought that his buddy was a dude!

Sparks and bullets are flying, keeping you awake and on the edge of your seat. And of course, Katie brings over the crew from Redemption Harbour to help out. What a treat! Looking forward to the next in the series. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Berlin is a tough-minded, skilled heroine. I love when a writer creates characters like this one. She is the one who jumps in to rescue when her online gaming partner is missing. She is really the hero of this novel.

Chance is a worthy partner for Berlin, and not just in gaming. The two have good chemistry, and the author developed a strong pair to add to the previously established characters from other books. Speaking of which, great guest appearance by a character!

You can’t go wrong with a Reus book. Five stars.

Fighting for Berlin by Katie Reus is an exciting addition to the Redemption Harbor Security series, and it’s everything fans have come to love about Katie Reus’s writing—fast-paced, action-packed, and full of heart. Berlin, the group’s brilliant and sassy hacker, takes center stage in this story, and her journey is as compelling as it is entertaining.

When Berlin’s longtime gaming partner, Chance, goes silent, her instincts kick in. Using her hacker skills, she tracks him down, only to discover he’s caught up in a dangerous mission to find his missing brother. Despite his initial disbelief that his gaming buddy is the capable and stunning woman in front of him, Chance soon learns that Berlin is not someone to be underestimated.

The chemistry between Berlin and Chance is electric, and their slow-burn romance feels authentic and deeply satisfying. Berlin’s determination to help Chance—despite the risks—showcases her bravery and loyalty, while Chance’s protective nature and unwavering resolve make him a perfect match for her. Their dynamic is built on trust and mutual respect, growing naturally as they navigate the perilous search for Chance’s brother.

Katie Reus masterfully balances suspense and romance, creating a story that keeps you turning pages late into the night. The plot is full of twists, action, and moments of genuine emotion. Familiar faces from the series make appearances, adding depth and camaraderie to the narrative, though the book stands solidly on its own for new readers.

While the middle of the book slows slightly with the introduction of Redemption Harbor’s broader team, it quickly picks up, leading to a nail-biting climax and a satisfying resolution. Berlin and Chance’s story is as much about their personal growth as it is about their relationship, making it an engaging read on multiple levels.

Overall, Fighting for Berlin is a must-read for fans of romantic suspense. With a smart, resourceful heroine and a strong, swoon-worthy hero, this book delivers on every front. Katie Reus proves once again why she’s a standout in the genre, and I can’t wait for the next installment—especially Mari’s story, which promises to be just as thrilling!

I love this group of people! They are like family and have each other's backs when it really counts. The fact that they all dropped what they were doing to help Chance just because Berlin cares about him. I enjoyed the suspense and the journey Berlin and Chance took as they fell in love. Great book!

I really enjoyed this latest book in this amazing series. This author entertains me with every book she writes.
Berlin is awesome! Besides being a hacker extraordinaire, she is also pretty funny. She is a member of the security team, but she is usually on the back end with her computer. But when a friend she has been gaining with for a couple of years suddenly goes silent, she manages to find him in her own. As a huge surprise to him, she is a woman. Chance thought she was a man that he was playing with. Turns out his brother is missing so she tells him she is helping. She will not take no for an answer.
And so begins the action and suspense that includes all of our favorite team members like Adalyn and Rowan.
I really like the slow burn between her and Chance. Sure they knew each other from gaming, but meeting in person and trying to find his brother in a dangerous situation is stressful. She tries to pull away from Chance but he’s all in and will not let her. I love them together. Great story!

My favorite TV show is Leverage and from Leverage comes the line "Age of the Geek." Berlin exemplifies that line when she jumps headfirst into a mystery to locate a gamer buddy who went silent. Her rescue of him was one of the high points of the story as she agrees to pit herself against some dangerous dudes to not only save Chance in the moment but to help him find his brother. From there some of her choices seemed a bit questionable to me, it is clear she is smart but to bring some random guy to her home like she did was not the best judgement. It is clear from early on in the story with Berlin's encounter with her youngest sister that she is a nurturer and a fixer, she just wants to make this right for the people in her orbit. The tension and flirty ratchets up from that start as Chance and Berlin clearly find each other attractive.
Then things kinda go off the rails a bit for me. The middle of the book gets a bit sluggish with characters from earlier books stepping in at the right moment to help. In fact, all of the Redemption Harbor team who are available quickly jump in to help out, again a call back to previous stories.
Those other characters help bring us to an intense and suspenseful conclusion ramping back up the action.
This book presented a unique challenge to me because I wanted to like it more than I did. I felt that while this book is stand alone, it would have been nice to know more about the team before jumping in. The main characters were the best part of the story. Chance and Berlin seemed well suited and both for good characters - smart and caring. Something just hit me wrong from the beginning and plagued me through the book. Maybe it was there meet cute seemed a little contrived, she hacked him and then just through herself into danger past on online research and conversation in a game room. The result of that research was good but getting there less so. The feds looking the other way on things that might not have been felt a bit off too. Admittedly, this was my first book by in this series and by this author so maybe that was part of my issue.
I'm a giving the book 3.5 stars and then rounding up to 4 because maybe the book did not meet my expectations but that is on me and no reason for the author do suffer. If you have read the whole series, you should definitely read this one. If you don't mind suspending disbelief a bit then I would recommend this to you also.
Thanks to NetGalley and KR Press LLC for the opportunity to read this ARC.

This was a fun story. Berlin is a unique heroine - smart, quirky, daring, and unapologetically herself. She and Chance fit so well together. There's action right from the start, and I liked how well these two worked together. This story felt fresh and fun, and I can't wait for the next one!

When Berlin’s parents died, she raised her sisters. They are all in college now and that gives her more time to concentrate on her job at Redemption Harbor Security. When her online buddy goes silent, she starts looking for him. Berlin has probably bit off more than she can chew with this one. Chance is former military and was honorable discharged after hurting his knee. He is undercover in a motorcycle gang looking for his brother. When things get dicey, Berlin pulls up and saves his butt. Now they are working together to find Chance’s brother and stop a drug smuggling operation.
Awesome story with action and suspense. Two friends who finally met in person. Steamy. Some humor. Berlin is used to taking care of others and not used to being taken care of.

Fighting for Berlin is the fifth book in the Redemption Harbor Security series. Berlin and Chance had been online gamer friends for years and finally meet when she hacks his identity and rescues him when he gets himself in trouble during an undercover operation. Chance is shocked to find out his presumed male gamer friend is actually a gorgeous woman and there is immediate chemistry. The story is full of action and suspense as they work to find his brother who has become mixed up with dangerous cartels.

I've read a LOT of Katie Reus, including all of the full- length novels in her Redemption Harbor series so far. Picking up an ARC for a Reus book is a no-brainer for me; she's a great author. That said, I struggled to find the chemistry between our heroes in this book. Don't get me wrong—I love Berlin, and I think Chance is adorable. I love that they have a past connection as fairly anonymous gaming buddies. And I'm pretty sure there are references to Berlin's online friend in previous novels, at least it rings vague bells in my "reads way too many books to keep them all straight" brain. However, I feel like we're supposed to know all the things about their online relationship when we start reading this book, and unfortunately, at least for me, that wasn't true. As a result, I struggled to understand how they were connected and the jump from online to in person seemed really abrupt. I mean I loved Berlin's superhero entrance into in-person Chance's life early in the novel, but then things kind of sped up too quickly. In fact, much of the book seems rushed.

Chance's quest also seems a little off. His attempt to infiltrate a gang to find his brother seems a little slipshod, and it's clear that if Berlin and her friends hadn't intervened, he'd probably be at the bottom of a swamp right now. Of course, he definitely becomes a hero in his own right once he starts working with the.Redemption Harbor crew.

Anyway, the quest is a little bit odd, as is Redemption Harbor's immediate willingness to help. There's a lot of convenient making use of their connections in local law enforcement and the FBI (women from previous books) and of said law enforcement's willingness to look the other way when things had into a gray area. For people who haven't read any of this author's books previously, and maybe even for some of us who have, all of the references to characters from previous novels can be a little bit off putting.

Hmm, it seems like all I'm doing is complaining about this novel, so you're probably wondering why I gave it three stars. The bottom line is that even when Katie Reus writes a less-than-great book, it's still head and shoulders above the best of many other authors. This book may not have been a favorite of mine, but I will still pick up a book by this author anytime.

I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!

I loved this book. Katie Reus books just hook you and you can't put them down. Berlin worked for Redemption Harbor Security. She was a great hacker and when a gamer she had played with for a couple years went dark, she tracked him down in person. It turns out Chance's brother was missing and he had gone undercover with a biker gang as that was the last place his brother had been. She saved his butt when he almost got got and then stayed to help him find Enzo. It took awhile and her whole team ended up coming to help. How their relationship developed was slow but steady. She kept backing off, but Chance was not giving up on her. The hunt for his brother found alot of bad guys and drug deals that they busted and the FBI was thankful. It was a book that kept your interest throughout until the end - which was great.

I got this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review
