Thank you to the Literary Press Group of Canada and Netgalley for providing me with a digital advance reader copy in exchange for an authentic review!
The Language of the Stars is a love letter to anyone who loves science, history, and the planet we live on. Nathan Hellner-Mestelman takes the reader on an enlightening, yet comedic, journey of how our Universe came to be and what might happen in the future. As someone with a background in astronomy, I loved the insightful commentary, well researched fun facts, and new perspective on the subject as a whole. This book is a great beginners guide to start any budding astronomer on their way to further pursuits in the field. It's a fun read with a variety of topics and accompanying cartoons that keeps you giggling at the next joke. I absolutely recommend this book to young adult and teen readers and rate this novel 4 stars out of 5. It is really strong explaining the inner workings of cosmology and the Universe, but I lost a bit of motivation in the middle while discussing pre-historic Earth. That may just be my preferences affecting the read, but I did really enjoy this novel and highly recommend it!
