This was a rough, disappointing read. The Bigamist by Felicia Mihali follows a woman after she leaves her husband for her lover. That's it—that's the whole point and plot of the book. It's boring, unengaging, and flat. Imagine The Days of Abandonment by Ellena Ferrante and My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh had a baby. I don't know if it's the translation, but it's written like a high school essay. In each paragraph, you can read the topic sentence and get the whole point of the paragraph. Also, it has NO dialogue, so the characters, even the female main character, are dull, lifeless objects that happen to be the book's focus. I tried so hard to like this novel, especially since I had such high expectations, but here we are. After reading, I was left with this nasty taste because it was so disappointing.
