Was this book terrible? Absolutely not! Though it definitely had flaws. I read Neon Gods and Electric Idol when they first came out and I enjoyed them but was not obsessed with them. I would say this was much of the same for me! It was entertaining, and not incredibly long. I think my main qualm is they hint that the main conflict gets resolved but don’t tell us how or what was even happening? I know this is a series with an over arching plot- but the definitely threw me off! It was definitely a bit insta love, though still enjoyable. I think if you go in with the mindset that it’s a quick fun read you’ll likely enjoy it!

I'm so stressed about what happened in those four and a half months (iykyk). Katee Robert books have become a kind of coming home for me, non more so than with this series. I've been with this series since Neon Gods and have followed every character and extra scene and major twist every step of the way. Poseidon and Icarus were such a delight. They were so cozy and vulnerable but also sexy and knew how to hold their own. They're definitely one of my favorites. I love watching everything come together in the backdrop of these two realizing how near perfect they are for each other. Katee does such a good job balancing a compelling plot with a romance at the front of it that has you kicking your feet screaming "just kiss already". These next two books are going to put me through it, I just know.

The side characters are always my favorite and i CAN NOT WAIT FOR TENDER CRUELTY.
The romance was very forced. It didn't read like her other novels. However, the character development matched their love story, and it made it more relatable and cohesive.
The pacing and writing are very easy to read and fast for the usual from Katee. I'm so invested I can't quit.
The plot for the past books has been more about the couple and sex-capes, i like plot more personally with a side of spicy. You can tell Katee does her research with Kink play and everything.

Sweet Obsession by Katee Robert is exactly what it promises—deliciously sexy, a little dangerous, and totally addictive. Wow, talk about chemistry. Their relationship is full of tension, temptation, and just enough chaos to keep you wondering who’s going to give in (or snap) first. Katee delivers on the steam, but also manages to layer in some real vulnerability that makes you root for this messy match.

There’s something so satisfying about the way Robert writes these dark, tangled family dynamics and then drops explosive romance right in the middle of them. Sweet Obsession balances the mafia politics with smoldering connection and emotional stakes that feel personal. It’s intense in all the right ways, and if you love your romance with danger, secrets, and a brooding antihero you shouldn’t want but totally do—this book hits the spot.

Bumped this to a 4-star because the ending was really cute!

I don't usually go to MM books, at the end of the day, I like to somehow feel like I can relate and whatnot, but this was very surprising and I'm glad I read it and enjoyed it!

I read Neon Gods years ago and remember having enjoyed it, and even though I haven't read any other book in the series, reading this was extremely easy to follow. I also appreciated the "previously in the series" at the beginning of the book. While it might help to have read the others, especially the book before that, since it seemed to have been a continuation, reading this as a stand-alone works just fine.

This book was relatively short and very, and I mean very, faced paced. Especially in the romantic aspect. It bothered me a bit, but the way Icarus and Poseidon seemed to get each other and help each other, it was sweet. Also, Poseidon is a schnookums sweetheart ❤️.

There was one thing that I side-eyed a couple of times, and it was the capitalizing of the letter "b" when stating that a character was black 😂. I am a black person, and I couldn't understand why that particular focus was needed when a white character was written as such, no capital "w" just good ole simple w. Anyhoo, it was just something I've never encountered before

There is a plot, not so much character development, but that's expected with how short it is. I would have liked the characters to delve a bit more into their relationship, but I can accept that this was a wham-bam story, giving us just enough to make them important characters worthy of a story to tell.

This a completely different read for me, and the writing made it even better.

Sweet Obsession is the latest book in the Dark Olympus series by Katee Robert. I have loved quite a few in this series, although I have not read them all. I do recommend reading them all, as the underlying political storyline continues with each book. Sweet Obsession is the story of Poseidon and Icarus, and some of their love story fell flat for me. I didn't feel much chemistry between the characters and their "instalove" just didn't feel very believable to me. It did keep me engaged, and I was rooting for them to make it, so it wasn't all bad. All in all, I am giving it three stars.

I loved Neon Gods when it first came out. I slowly lost interest in these books because the writing all feels really redundant. If you haven’t read Katee Robert’s before, it’s probably a more enjoyable read.

Another great book in the Dark Olympus series by Katee Robert. I really enjoyed this book. I feel like the further we get into this series the more plot driven they are which I am here for. Poseidon might be one of my favorite characters to come out of this series. I really loved reading his and Icarus’ relationship develop and the spice was done so well! The last like 100 pages had me hooked. I’m so ready to see how the whole Circe situation is going to play out.

This is Katee Robert's first MM romance, and they do such a great job with it. I love the way she is so inclusive with their lgbtqia+ characters. I also just absolutely adore their storytelling.

If you haven't started the dark Olympus series, you need to. Talk about starting with Hades and Persephone and taking it to a whole new level. The series is modern, dramatic, violent, and all connected along one main storyline. The romances in each book is just a sub storyline, I can't wait for the next one to see what happens with Circe.

I absolutely LOVE everything Katee writes! That being said I don’t typically read mm unless it’s closed door, but I had to read this because it’s dark Olympus and I needed to know what was going on in the story! I was pleasantly surprised that just like everything else they write the mm scenes were written seamlessly & sensually. I enjoyed the kink exploration and dynamic between Icarus and Poseidon. I can’t wait for Zues & Hera next!

Katee has done it again with this amazing book! I hope they do more MM books in the future! Inspired by Iscaus' fall, only in this version Posiedon saves him from drowning.

I am so grateful for the headlines-as-reminders for what’s happened in the series so far. Robert does an excellent job of making the story and characters accessible regardless of which book in the series you begin with.

Whether you come for the political intrigue and stay for the fucking or you come for the fucking and stay for the political intrigue, Katee always had something for everyone.

I love Icarus, I want to go out drinking with him and hear all his slutty stories. I want to give Poseidon a hug and a fidget toy.

“I’m not someone who worries over much about the gods, but if religion were like this, maybe I’d actually be interested in participating.” HELLO, extremely romantic. Despite how I usually feel about power differential relationships, I found myself routing for Poseidon and Icarus almost from the very beginning.

Although the pacing at times fee like a push and pull between intensity and mundanity, this is overall another excellent addition to the beloved Dark Olympus series.

I was so fortunate to be able to receive this ARC! Thank you! I wanted to finish the rest of the series before this one and I’m glad I did! I LOVE this whole series. However, out of all 8 books, this is my least favorite. It seemed a little rushed and I didn’t feel a huge connection between Poseidon and Icarus. But I am glad they got their HEA and am so excited to read the next one! Thank you again!

Katee Robert always manages to pull you in and brings the spice. I love that you don't need to read the previous books to follow along with what's going on (although you should because 1:they are fantastic and 2: there are spoilers) and I love the relationship between Icarus and Poseidon. I love how naturally their relationship develops and how real it feels.
Usually if a series gets to book 8 it takes a lot to make sure readers are not bored or it isn't repetitive and Katee Robert makes sure that doesn't happen. They just keep getting better and better!

The spice? Chef’s kiss. The plot? Also amazing. She just has the perfect formula.

This one is an MM romance between Icarus and Poseidon. Two men who can’t help but fall for each other.

I loved loved loved how Poseidon (the big guy) in the story was such a softy. And I have to admit, it’s so refreshing to read about a man who’s emotionally mature and available (you don’t see that much in day-to-day life).

Icarus had so much character growth, and I loved him more and more the further we got. And again, the spice scenes? He knew what he was doing. Period.

This installment was personally not a favorite of mine. I didn't feel as engaged in the story for the first half of the book. In the second half I really enjoyed the direction the story took and the actual romance between the two MMCs. This book definitely had its moments.

I’ve loved Greek mythology since middle school & i forgot how good Katee Robert’s writes these books. I didn’t fully know what i was getting myself into w this story but it was delightful. My heart ❤️ This was a mega twist I was not expecting. From their romance to the events of what happens with the war to the ending. Nothing that I was expecting but even more delicious 😋 Katee Robert never misses an opportunity to deliver the most juicy drama and romance 💘 I loved that this was MM, which would be one of my first MM reads, and it was so sweet! With this unexpected love blooming, I don’t know what’s gonna come next.

In this installment of Dark Olympus, Sweet Obsession, we see the events after Icarus gets captured by Poseidon. We slowly see how this captive/captor relationship blooms into a romance far spicier than expected. Poseidon discovers new territory in the bedroom and in his heart. With the threat of Circe looming over Olympus, many people are struggling and panicking, thus making the wrong choices or maybe the right ones? Who knows 😏

Katee Robert’s writing always gets me in a hype. The writing style is descriptive but sets a constant suspense tone to lead to the next scene. I always love that these books are written in dual POV for the main characters; that way, we can see what’s going on through their minds and how they see the other person or persons. Truly love Katee’s writing.

I LOVE that we can always see what’s going on in the city and with the different characters of previous books. This brings an edge to the series because we already know these characters and how they think, so seeing them and their actions through the new characters is always a joy. The characters all feel so different even though it is the same person writing them. Anyways, love this series.

I absolutely loved this story! Sweet obsession has a forbidden romance. Poseidon has fallen for his captive and has no clue how to deal with that. For Icarus he has to come to realize that he is more than what the world has made him out to be. A beautiful story of love and growth!

I'm really enjoying this series and this was a great new installment. I enjoyed seeing more about the Legacy titles in Poseidon and his character was great. He's been a mysterious one throughout the other books so it was nice being able to understand him more. The conflict with Circe is dragging a bit, knowing that there are still 2 more books coming, but that really takes a backseat to the romance that is front and center. I liked Poseidon and Icarus and the epilogue was so lovely!
