Of the Dark Olympus series so far, this is definitely up high on my favorites list.
Poseidon and Icarus are insta lovey, but with how hot and fast everything is happening I, personally, didn't mind one bit, the ending had me tearing up it was so sweet 😭 Poseidon is the sweetest boy, and I am so proud of Icarus by the end.
The over arching plot that has been hovering through out the series is what has me FOAMING AT THE MOUTH. I was constantly wondering what is going to happen. I can not wait for the rest of this series.
The name of her boat???? OMG
I can't wait for the next book.
ZEUS, I just know I'm going to love him.
Hera my raging bad b who I have loved since book one. 👑
A huge thank you so so much to NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of Sweet Obsession.
Poseidon and Icarus are super cute. If you enjoy insta love, this one is definitely for you. While I enjoyed their relationship, I do wish it was a bit more of a slow burn, because wow, that moved fast.
War is still imminent and the action ramped up in this book, although we still don't know what Circe wants. With only 2 books left in the Dark Olympus series, I'm excited (and scared!!) to see what's coming next.

* I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this book. All thoughts are my own.
Dark Olympus was a series that I really loved from the beginning. The past few books, including this one, have not really been able to hold my interest. I didn’t care about Poseidon and Icarus in this book because there was no romance and it was yet again another filler book for the main plot. I’m sadly ready for this series to end. I am only looking forward to Hera and Zeus’ book at this point because every book has seemed like it was building up to theirs.
Would only recommend if you’ve already read the series and are looking to finish it.

First, a huge thank you to Sourcebooks for letting me read this early! After finishing Dark Restraint, I'll be honest, I didn’t know what to do with my life. I so wasn’t ready to leave this universe, even just for a few months. And I'm still not. The wait for the next book is going to be actual torture.
The reason I love Katee Robert so much (okay, one of the reasons) is how well they write characters. Characters that are messy and complicated and layered. Characters that aren’t just good or bad, black or white, but all the beautiful shades in between. And not just the main characters, but all of them.
I also love the way Katee portrays the relationships. Just like the characters, they are real and messy. They require communication, and Katee portrays that beautifully - but also how difficult and scary that open communication can be.
Sweet Obsession is actually a little calmer than the last few books - while there is still a lot of political intrigue, like we've come to expect of Dark Olympus, there's actually less action than the last three, four books. But not in a bad way. No, Sweet Obsession ramps up the tension by being - well, the phrase "the calm before the storm" comes to mind.
Considering the last two books will follow Zeus/Hera and Hermes and her love interests (I won’t name them here to avoid spoilers), I definitely think this book serves to lull us into a false sense of security before the final two books sucker-punch us.

So glad we got Icarus and Poseidons story. I have been anticipating it! I love their dynamic, and I love the use of k!nk between them. I also really enjoyed reading about how they both deal with and help each other deal with anxiety.
While I think this was a very cute story, I think it fell flat a bit in terms of continuing the plot with Circe and Olympus. It was almost a side story / plot filler while we wait for the next one.
Was hoping for a bit more between them, and also a bit more action overall. They fell for each other super fast and it was almost? Too fast for me, but I know a lot of the couples have been this way as well.
Overall I enjoyed it and cannot wait to continue the series.

Sweet Obsession is the EIGHTH installment of Katee Robert's Dark Olympus series! I cannot believe I've been following this series for almost four years, I'm not sure what I'm going to do when this series finally concludes.
I was mentally prepared for there to be a more drastic cliffhanger, considering we're nearing the end of the series, but I liked that we're left with an open mystery of Circe. I don't feel like I was as attached to Icarus and Poseidon as I have been with other characters, but I feel like that makes sense, given they are introduced as the enemy and the most reserved member of the Thirteen. Overall, I still loved reading their HEA unfold, they both deserved it. I can't wait to see what they accomplish in the next two books!

I have read all the previous books in the series and was starting to get a little tired of them, but this one renewed my interest a bit. The background plot is finally getting somewhere after languishing for at least four books. The characters are distinct and central romance was very sweet and I appreciated the handling of the epilogue so we know they get their HEA even if the central threat is yet to be resolved. I have to assume the next book is the final one.

I've read this series from the beginning, and I'm not going to stop now. We're 8 books into 10 and while the last few have not been as good as the first few, I felt like Sweet Obsession was a great redemption. I was intrigued by the captive situation (trigger warnings at the beginning are there and relevant!) and loved how the dual POV showed this dynamic. Poseidon & Icarus had a super interesting dynamic and I loved how I didn't know what was going to happen next.
The story of the fall of Olympus continues, and while this plot line stretching across 8 books now seems like a lot I didn't find it difficult to get back into what was happening. I felt like there was just enough talk between characters to trigger the memories of Circe and her insanity. For a person who does not remember books well, I think it's a testament to Roberts' writing that it's easy to pick up book 8 of a series and read on with only a short recap at the beginning of the book. This was super well done.
The relationship between Poseidon & Icarus was flawed (obvs, this whole series is built on flawed characters) but also pretty endearing. I loved how soft Poseidon was when we got down to brass tacks, and I loved how Icarus bloomed from a defeated captive to his role at the end of the book. His journey was the most fun part to read for sure! The ending was great, just enough to satisfy a lovers heart while setting up for two of the most anticipated books yet- Zeus and Hera in book 9 and Hermes gets her moment in book 10!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book!
Book 8(!) starts immediately after the end of book 7 with Ariadne and the Minotaur sailing away from Olympus leaving Icarus in Poseidon’s custody. Circe’s fleet of 5 ships sits menacingly off shore. With war looming and no time to decide what to do with Icarus, Poseidon takes him back to his home- essentially placing him under house arrest. An unexpected attack leaves Poseidon tending to an injured Icarus, who’s decided his best chance at survival lies with seducing Poseidon. What follows is an unexpected but enjoyable power dynamic. The timeline for this book is pretty short and the spice was just right! It felt organic and just perfect, if unexpected, for the characters. As Poseidon navigates the power machinations of the other 13, he finds solace and comfort with Icarus. Hermes makes a brief appearance leaving us no closer to finding out her plans. After having her assassination attempt fall apart (book 7), Hera is more determined than ever to rid herself of Zeus- no matter the cost.
A small coup and some unlikely alliances, lead the Olympians to discover Circe isn’t where they think she is. With only two books left in the series, we’re left with so many questions. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out!
Where is Circe and what does she really want? What is Hermes up to? Does Zeus know Hera is pregnant, or is she? What will happen to Olympus and the 13 who rule it?? Hera and Zeus are next and I can’t wait!! Bring on all the enemies to lovers hate s*x! I just know Katee has something devious planned.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this installment. It was nice to watch Poseidon and Icarus grow together, and the spice didn't take over the entire plot, which was refreshing. While the ending closed off their stories, I think right before that is what will set up the action for the last two books in the series. I also thought we learned more about these characters, which was nice. I am so intrigued by Zeus and Hera's story, and I feel like the two of them were fairly present. The spice was good, but I've definitely enjoyed some of the other characters' moments better. I look forward to the last two books, for sure! Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC to read and review!

This was another great installment in the dark Olympus series. Love the new characters and also seeing more of old favorites

Sweet Obsession is the eighth title in the Dark Olympus series written by Katee Robert.
*Olympus retelling
*Captor/Captive
*Opposites attract
My sweet, precious, gentle giant Poseidon!!! I will love him forever! Icarus is exactly what he needed.
Sweet Obsession picks up immediately following the ending of Dark Restraint so readers will need to read that title first to understand what the current situation is and how the main couple came to be together.

Sweet Obsession is another great addition to the Dark Olympus series by Katee Robert. Poseidon and Icarus have a fun dynamic and the greater storyline of Olympus continues to move forward.

I love the chemistry between Icarus and Poseidon, but the plot was so anti-climatic and dragged. The book follows a similar formula that the other Dark Olympus books have: enemies to lovers, some political conflict and fighting between the main characters, kiss and make up, more conflict/battle, and a happy ending tied with a bow. I do love these stories on their own, but after reading 8 of these in this series (plus others that she has written), I crave something different.

“But he’s asked me for escape, and escape is one thing I know how to do.”

Me and baby boy, Hades, got all nice and cozy for the next book in the Dark Olympus series. Absolutely loved this couple and the dynamic they had the entire book.
Loved their growth with each other. Loved the plot and schemes, had me turning page after page!
Can’t say a lot since this doesn’t come out till 5/1/25!!
But yall..this one is so good! Yall need to make sure “Sweet Obsession” is on your radar!
Thank you @katee_robert @netgalley @sourcebookscasa for the eARC! Absolutely loved this series!

Katee Robert is my favorite spicy author, and I love this Dark Olympus series. All of her books have crossover, continued drama, and a great unique universe with lots of easter eggs. the SPICE of course is magnificent and the plot keeps it all moving seamlessly. Auto-buy author!
Thank you to NetGalley for this gifted eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Love all things Katee Robert, every book in the Dark Olympus series has held something fun and intriguing that has me coming back for more of these books and retellings, this one fell slightly flat for me though. As much as I loved the idea of it, I didn't connect with the characters as much as I hoped, but still really loved reading it!

While the premise was nice, the writing was... not what I expected. I wanted more from the characters because I felt that what was on the front cover and the front flap was not what we were given.

Reading this book was really fantastic! I've loved this series since the beginning, and we're really getting into the end stages, there's only 2 more books after this. And boy, are big moves being made! Plus, I adored Icarus and Poseidon together!
The events in the previous book have really ramped up the stakes in this book, Circe and Aeaens are right on the verge of attacking, and there's not much of a defense that Olympus can put up, given now that their main method of the barrier is now down.
Katee Robert had made it a point not to write a MM romance until now, which I totally understand. But I'm glad that they wrote these two together, because I really enjoyed them as characters, and their dynamic, that Poseidon was in a place of power, and Icarus was his prisoner, but in the bedroom, it was different.
There were a few big moves in this book, and so much plotting and scheming that Poseidon doesn't want to get involved in, but because of his position, he has to. With what happened in this book and where we left things, I'm really excited for Hera and Zeus' story!
Loved reading this book, and I can't wait to see how the series is going to wrap up and conclude!

Every single thing this human rights is literal gold.
They can do no wrong, and I will accept no criticism.
This whole series is political genius!!!
