Wow, I loved this book! If you love short chapters, bing worthy suspense, dark thriller vibes, intense characters, dual POV, a sociopathic main character and some good nightmare fuel, this is for you! I had only read one other book by Lisa Jewel (None of This is True) and loved that one as well. The twists were amazing and overall, the book left me feeling super unsettled which is exactly what I want in a thriller book!
Thanks to Net Galley and Atria Books for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. đź©·
Another strong story from Lisa Jewell! It was suspenseful and difficult to put down. Although I thought the story has been done similarly before, it was well-written and well-paced. A quick, interesting read!
Thank you very much to NetGalley and Atria Books for the advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Lisa Jewell does it again! This book shows why she’s one of the most loved thriller authors out there. From the very first chapter, you’ll be absolutely hooked. Seriously, cancel your plans—you’re not going anywhere once you start reading.
Nina and her adult daughter, Ash, are reeling from the sudden death of their husband and father, Paddy Swann, who was horrifyingly pushed in front of a train. Just as they’re trying to piece their lives back together, a note from Nick Radcliffe—an old friend of Paddy’s—throws them off balance. As Nick and Nina grow closer (to Ash’s disapproval), their lives collide with another couple, Martha and Al, who are drowning in financial troubles and desperate for a fresh start. But, as you might suspect, Nick and Al have secrets, and they’d do just about anything to keep them buried.
With its short and suspenseful chapters, dual timelines, and multiple perspectives, it’s clear why Lisa Jewell is the queen of complex and dark stories, and this one is no exception.
The characters are so vividly described—flawed, sinister, and layered. When I saw this described as a “kaleidoscope thriller,” I was intrigued—and it absolutely delivered. The twists, the darkness, the drama! This might just be her grittiest novel yet, but it’s brilliant.
If you’re in the mood for a dark, shocking, and twisty thriller that keeps you guessing and gasping, this one is it, y’all!!
Overall a very good book. There was a lot of pieces that eventually came together in the end. I feel like it was well written and planned out. My criticism is that I feel as if started too slow and while most things were answered in the end, there were some unanswered aspects as well.
You ever read a book that makes you so confident and happy in your decision to stay single for the remainder of your life? This is one of them for sure. Good lord. It’s like Dirty John on crack and I loved every page of it.
There were so many times I wanted to jump inside the book and fist fight all of them. The man for obvious reasons but the women to make them wake up and wise up.
This was the perfect spin on the sociopathic con man story as we see the way these women’s lives are spun together. The multiple POVs and jump backs in time made it feel like solving a puzzle which I loved.
Lisa Jewell will always be one of my favorite thriller writers and this book solidified that. There’s just something about the way she writes that hits my brain in the best ways.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!
How does Lisa Jewell get better and better with every book she writes?!
Her newest book follows an array of women who all seem to have a connection to the same man, however, the man seems to have a different name and story for every woman. We bounce between present day and past events to sleuth out who "Nick Radcliffe" truly is, and the lengths he will go to to maintain his charade.
'Don't Let Him In' had me up into the wee hours of the night to unravel the mystery and plethora of questionable narrators. I haven't been this hooked in by a domestic psychological thriller in a while! I love this sub genre because the story feels real. A lot of women have experienced men like Nick, hopefully not to the extent of his actions in this book, but his traits are sickeningly familiar. The ending gave me a sense of closure that I only wish could be the ending to many real life similar encounters.
Keep an eye for this book in summer 2025! You won't want to miss it!
A con man comes into the lives of different women and draws them all together. This was a fun book to read and I loved hearing how all the pieces came together. Lisa Jewell never disappoints!
I devoured this bad boy SO FAST. I enjoyed it a ton, Filled with plot twists that I didnt see coming but a fast and easy read.
I thought this book started off pretty strong. There is a sudden death and a family that wants to know what happened and why it happened. As they grieve, they receive a letter in the mail from someone that could have more information for them. As the story progresses, this mystery becomes a lot closer to the family and lots of webs are spun and stories are crossed. The main character really disgusted me and made me feel ick. I do think there needs to be trigger warnings for domestic violence and mental illness among others.
This book felt a lot like a dateline episode. I enjoyed it but from about 40-80%, I felt like it was dragging on. I know the information provided during that portion of the book was important to the story but it just felt repetitive and long. I did really enjoy the end of the book. I felt like there was good character growth for Ash and I appreciated the friendships she made along the way. I think this would make a great audiobook with several narrators.
Thank you Netgalley for providing me this ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Some characters in books cannot be liked.
Ash at 26 years old can see clearly that there’s something odd about Nick who recently started dating her widowed mother, Nina. It’s hard for her to watch how easily her mother -- who has always made smart decisions -- is now easily overcome by his charm. Ash notices that some things aren’t making sense about him. That’s when she becomes somewhat of a back-door investigator.
This psychological thriller is complicated at first like going into an abyss and then after a few chapters, everything makes sense and moves quickly. It’s dark and shows a weak part of humans. Some parts are repeated to create a good flow and reinforce what’s happening. When you start to read this, it’s all the way to the end for your own sanity.
My thanks to Atria Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book with an expected release date of June 24, 2025.

I always love anything by Lisa Jewell! This was so juicy, reminiscent of Dirty John but much darker! A conman charms his way into the lives of many, many women, with disastrous results! So good!
I really enjoyed this book especially the ending. The final scene was just a punch in the gut for the main character. Perfect ending.
Another win for Lisa Jewell! This book had it all and I was here for every second. I could not put this page turner down. The delicate web Jewell weaved in this one is a master class of writing. Buckle up because this one is great!
I feel like this could have been so much easier to follow if each person from the past that he targeted has their own chapter. Intertwining them into the multiple story lines with so many women just made it impossibly hard to follow. Jumping timelines amongst every storyline also makes this impossibly confusing.
Lisa Jewell is a staple in the mystery/thriller world but she’s been changing her style first with None of This is True and now again with Don’t Let Him In.
I’m not going to provide a synopsis and this is best to go in blind. There are three different point of views used across multiple timelines and because of this fact it took me a while to get into the story. In fact, I just couldn’t believe that this was Jewell’s writing. It was so clunky, with incredibly short sentences and repetitive use of nouns and adjectives. There were alot of copouts as well that I felt such as using mental health as a reason to not believe someone or make them an unreliable narrator.
That being said, once I reached the 60% mark things really started to pick up and I couldn’t put it down. There was still one POV that I groaned at and wanted to (but didn’t)skim through, however I do think it was a neat tool used by Jewell.
However, I think 60% of the book is too far in for any action to occur. If it wasn’t an author I loved so much I probably would have DNF’d it before then.
This is a far cry from her other works in the sense it’s more a psychological story and a character dive into the mind of a narcissist than it is a mystery or thriller like her other books. I’m very interested to hear what other readers think.
Thank you NetGalley, Lisa Jewell, and Atria Books for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I was a little let down by this one, but I think a big reason of that is my own fault. I went into this one expecting a big mystery, but it’s more of a detailed look at a con man and everyone that he hurts. It’s dark with some twists and turns, but I also found it kind of confusing at times keeping the characters and timelines straight. I will say, though, that I ended up reading it in two days because it’s very fast-paced and entertaining. Just not what I expected! If you’re looking for a book that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat, this is the one for you.
If you are a Lisa Jewell fan, her latest book. Don’t Let Him In, was such an enthralling book. I read it so fast!
This book was really great. I’ve always enjoyed Lisa’s writing and this book proved it, I am giving this book a 3 stars, and I am sticking on that rating, i think this plot was a great idea and it was one of a kind, I am gonna be 100% reading more books by lisa jewel!
Though predictable, this was a page tuner. I liked the female characters and was intrigued by the depths of deception from the central male character.
I feel like I have two moods on Lisa Jewell books… I either LOVEEEE them or a HATEEEE them. This one fell in the purgatory in between. I didn’t love it, that’s for sure, but it had some interesting and exciting twists (hello epilogue) that were super unexpected. I liked Ash a lot and related to her biiiiig time in so many ways. The quantity and “value added” of secondary and tertiery characters however was a bit lost on me and I felt like it wa a bit hard to follow sometimes. I liked how unique the storyline was and it was definitely unlike other thrillers I’ve read, so in that case it’s a win. Pick this up if you are a Jewell fan, but otherwise… meh.
