Ash’s world is shattered when their father is killed after being pushed onto train tracks. As her family tries to heal from this tragedy, their mother, Nina, begins seeing a charming man named Nick. But Nick is no ordinary suitor. He’s also Al, Jonathan, Damian, Alistair, Andre (one man with many identities, multiple wives, and a trail of deception spanning years).
A riveting thriller that peels back the layers of a master manipulator while reminding us how much we may not truly know about the people we trust most.
Liss Jewell’s Don't Let Him In is a masterfully crafted thriller that explores grief, deception, and the dark secrets hidden within relationships. From the moment Paddy Swann’s tragic death sets the stage, the novel pulls readers into a labyrinth of intertwining lives, lies, and shocking revelations.
What I like :-
1 Intriguing Premise: The mysterious death of Paddy Swann and the ominous warning to “don’t let him in” immediately sets a suspenseful tone. The lighter sent by Nick Radcliffe acts as a symbolic trigger, unraveling the lives of the three women.
2 Complex Characters: Jewell excels at creating multi-dimensional characters. Nina’s vulnerability, Ash’s suspicion, and Martha’s struggles as a small-town florist and mother are deeply relatable, drawing readers into their individual dilemmas.
3 Interwoven Narratives: The alternating perspectives of Nina, Ash, and Martha add depth and tension, slowly revealing the connections between their lives and the dangerous men around them.
4 Atmospheric Writing: Jewell’s vivid descriptions of the small-town settings and the emotional undercurrents in each scene create a tense, immersive atmosphere.
What I dislike :-
None.
Overall :- Don't Let Him In is a gripping psychological thriller that expertly balances emotional depth with nail-biting suspense. Liss Jewell’s ability to weave multiple storylines into a cohesive and compelling narrative ensures readers are hooked from start to finish. A haunting, twist-filled tale that will leave readers questioning how well they know the people closest to them.
Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for giving me an advance copy.
Paddy Swann’s death sets in play a complicated, twisted plot involving very different women. Paddy’s widow Nina is a successful, wealthy woman mourning her husband’s death when she receives a note and gift from Nick Radcliffe, an old friend of Paddy’s. Nina is soon drawn in by the charismatic Nick upsetting her daughter Amy who does not trust him. Martha is a florist with two sons from a previous marriage and a baby daughter with her new husband Alistair Grey. Hard working Tara’s marriage to Jonathan Trusscot is breaking up due to his spending and unexplained absences. As Amy digs into Nick’s past, she discovers that He, Al and Jonathan have things in common. She needs answers before she or her mother may become victims.
This multilayered, complex mystery/thriller told in several voices is just what you expect from Lisa Jewell. Sympathetic (and unsympathetic) characters quickly become real. As their stories intertwine, the plot quickens. You’ll turn the pages as fast as you can to a totally surprising conclusion. 5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley, Atria Books and Lisa Jewell for this ARC.
Okay, like, wow—this one totally pulled me in right away. A thriller that’s all about secrets, lies, and, like, super complicated relationships? YES, please! You’ve got this drama-filled trio of women, and OMG, the twists are wild. Every time I thought I knew what was happening, I was all gasp “Wait, WHAT?!”
The multiple POVs kept things spicy, and even though it gets dark (like, seriously dark), the story still manages to be sooo addictive. I flew through it! Some of the characters were a bit, um, eye roll-y (looking at you, Ash), but honestly? It just added to the drama. Plus, the mystery dude? Total nightmare fuel, but in the best way possible.
It’s not the perfect thriller, but it’s juicy, clever, and totally binge-worthy. Four stars and a solid rec for anyone who loves their thrillers twisty and intense!
Big thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. 💕
It doesn't matter what the story is about. If Jewell is the author, I will read it! This latest title was exciting and very enjoyable. I got lost in the pages. It moved quickly. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
Another incredible book from Lisa. a twisty book that keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat.
Wow...just omg wow!!!! This book was incredible... always this author knocks younoff your socks!. So much going on and tge ending was just brilliant. So many people to keep straight a few times I had to stop and go OK..lol and read on. Perfect book to end or start tge new year on. Brilliant.
Thank you to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an early release of this book.
Before there were catfish, there were OG con men. Don’t Let Him In unfolds the winding and deceitful path of one such man through the years. The story moves back and forth through time, building the pictures of multiple families who have a connection to this man, although they know him as different people. When worlds begin to collide, all the characters are set on an explosive collision course.
I give this book 4 stars. I did find the first half confusing, but it all came together in the end. I think thriller readers and Lisa Jewell fans will come away from this novel satisfied.
While I typically enjoy Lisa Jewell’s novels, “Don’t Let Him In” was entertaining but, the back and forth time sequences and multiple families made the plot line confusing at times.
AVID READER
how one of the most acclaimed thriller authors of the decade decided to publish the most overdone, boring story is beyond me.
this is the most basic story about a con man. a story that has been told hundreds of times before, with absolutely nothing remotely interesting or unique being added to the conversation. i’m actually shocked this is a Lisa Jewell book.
the story is fueled by the women being so unbelievably, cartoonishly dumb . this man is not special or smart, the things he says are insanely ridiculous. the only reason the story can go on is because Jewell has written her characters to have zero brain cells.
trite. repetitive. overdone. tired. banal. dumb. BORING. truly awful & i can’t believe i read the whole thing. i just didn’t believe that this author would write something this dull in the year 2024. i kept waiting for something interesting to happen, and it never did.
lol. but thank you to Net Galley + Atria for letting me read this early! all opinions are, clearly, my own.
RTC on instagram.
This is one of the most insane and complicated books I’ve ever read! I had to really work my brain to keep up with the twisted story. Unlike some of her other books it took me a minute to get into it but it was very well executed and I loved the ending. Many thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this early copy for read and review
I absolutely screamed when I got approved for this arc. Lisa Jewell is one of my fav thriller authors so as soon as this landed on my kindle, I started right away!
I have yet to be disappointed by a Jewell book and Don’t Let Him In did NOT disappoint.
A dark domestic thriller that I could not put down. We follow three woman who are all connected. One man who you will love to hate.
Short chapters, fast paced and a complete page turner!!
Thank you NetGalley and Atria books for the ARC!!!
In Lisa Jewell's new book set to be published in June of 2025, the lives of recent widow Nina, and Martha, a mom of three, eventually become intertwined in this domestic thriller depicting the story of sociopath and his web of lies.
This books gets 3 stars from me- some things I struggled with is the books constant reiteration of things. Half the plot and content of the story is based off the retelling and summarization of what has happened in order to push the characters actions along. I feel the author could have done something better with the dual POV's instead of just hearing the same things over and over again. At some points the characters all started to mish-mosh together so it was a bit hard to keep track of all of them.
Overall, I feel the book portrays manipulation, narcissism, and the violence associated with that fairly well, and I was completely stressed throughout the whole book just wanting things to unravel. Although I felt this wasn't necessarily a thriller, it is quite suspenseful and kept me entertained with the amount of drama that was happening throughout!!!
I just finished the latest thriller by @lisajewelluk pub date 06.24.25 thank you @netgalley and @atriabooks for the arc in exchange for my honest review. I rated this one a solid 5⭐️ and this is why: This book was too good, from start to finish. Classic Lisa Jewell style: great plot, creepy characters, plot twist after plot twist, bits of dark humor. Take None Of This Is True, Dirty John and blend them…that’s what this perfect twisty tale served up as. I could’ve finished it in one sitting but I couldn’t fight the urge to savor each page. 10/10 recommend, this will probably be my top read of 2025. Do yourself a favor and preorder now, you won’t want to miss it!
This was not a true thriller since there was no plot twist, but it was an absolutely bone-chilling depiction of a sociopathic man and the fear that comes with such acts of violence.
0.5 "Santa why did you put a piece of coal in my stocking ?" star !!
Acknowledgements to Netgalley and Atria books. This book will be released June 2025. I am providing an honest reaction for the first 50 percent of the book which is where I stopped.
I was excited to receive this arc. I had read so many positive reviews about Jewell over the years and today was Christmas Cookie baking day and I was reading this in between batches. The cookies turned out beautifully whereas the book did not.
So the prose is popular fiction and a decent 2.5 to 3 star style. No problems here.
The plot is way too long winded and absolutely needed to be cut down drastically.
The female characters are all different varieties of worn out dishcloths...so many of them...tired, pathetic and dreadfully dull....so similar to each other....neither admirable nor likable but like cows out to pasture...awful !!! Mostly interchangeable ....
Of course there just had to be a male psychopath that was stringing all these women along ....boo hoo hoo whinge whinge... you know the book is TERRIBLE when you are more supportive of the villain.... I really don't give a shit how this pans out or if he gets his comeuppance....
Well I know I can now remove several books off my tbr.
This Jewell do not sparkle Santa ! Gimme something else.
I’m stuck between 4 and 4.5 🌟 stars on this one. I think I’m going with 4.5. Lisa Jewell is the queen of domestic thrillers. I loved the progression of this story. The ending was very satisfying. I hated the MC with such a passion and Jewell did a fabulous job making the reader feel that way.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this book!
This was a good one! I really enjoyed this book. I had a hard time putting this one down. I really enjoyed the writing style and the characters chemistry was great. This was a first for me by this author but will not be my last!
Finished this book within 24 hours! Such good twists and gave great details! She’s done it again! Thank you again for the early copy!0
DON’T LET HIM IN ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. Release, 6/24/2025. Lisa Jewell has done it again! Nina a single mother to 2 adult children, has just become a widow, as her husband, a local famous restaurateur. was pushed into train tracks and killed. Martha is a florist with 3 children with a husband named Nick who has a habit of disappearing for days on end for his work. Somehow these lives are intertwined, and it’s a domestic thriller you won’t be able to put down! I read this book in 3 sittings. In short addictive chapters, with multiple POV and dual timeline, you can’t stop figuring out how the pieces come together. As someone who loves Dateline, this book feels right out of a mess of the show. You won’t be able to put it down, and I know this book will be a huge hit, and resonate with women and our gut instinct! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
