Wasn’t able to read this one digitally but I did order a copy of the book so will be reviewing it after I’ve read it. I’m really excited for it as I’ve only heard great things about it.

- Multi POV + Timelines
- Masked man
- Forced proximity
- Non-HEA

The first chapter starts very descriptive and is filled with action. We meet a few characters with multiple POVs of each character at different timelines throughout. These really do help us know a lot about each character and how they connect to each other. I did need to write them down at first with their names and "X years ago" to keep them all straight.

Overall, this story had a lot going on, and while I enjoyed most of it, I wish we had equal POVs of each character. I had questions about a lot of the characters at the end and how they felt/were coping throughout the book.

I like that this book did not have a happy ending. Most of the dark books I read suddenly have a HEA in the last chapters. It was a bit refreshing.

I struggled to keep up with this book and how back and forth the storyline was. I think it's got a good plot but it may just be a me factor as a reader that this book may not be suited for. Characters are well built and the story is good.

This story is kind of intense. It is a romantic tragedy so beware there are no happy endings. It's told in multiple POVs in different timelines. There are mainly six different POVs with a few irrelevant fillers in between. Jenna and Sam are lovers from high school and Jenna has been sent away to the military. She has an on and off relationship with Sam because she is constantly on missions but tries to be with Sam as much as she's able which isn't much. Then we get Her and Father who are in the present. Her is forcing Father to face his past for her revenge. In the middle we get Alice and Sir. Sir has taken Alice and is trying to break her to make her his again.

There is so much happening and the jumps in time sound like they would be confusing but they aren't. They flow pretty seamlessly. The reveal of who Alice is wasn't that shocking because some of the beginning descriptors gave it away. But what Sir did, I think I might have developed Stockholm Syndrome too because during those chapters I was thinking I would stay for this man. Jenna and Sam are a sad tale because something always got in the way. But I could feel how much they loved each other. I also felt the struggles Sam went through in her life trying to find peace and happiness.

There were a lot of emotions going on during this book. But what happened to Sam at the end shocked me and destroyed me. The consistent narcissistic descriptions were a bit much but because the story was so captivating I overlooked it.

The ending with Father and Her was pure perfection. It was heart wrenching and painful but the ending was exactly as it should be. It put the whole story in full circle. I think the shocking part was finding out who Sir was because his life changed so drastically after that.

The last chapter that had nothing to do with the story was also amazing. It was a short story with another tragic end that just felt right.

This book will mess with your head but I highly recommend it.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!

The Good Girl by SB Rogue is a heart pounding dark romance and thriller. The story begins letting us know that 30 years ago, something happened to the love of her life and now she sits in confession, but this confession is rigged to blow if the Father makes one wrong move. The only way out? To tell the truth, sounds simple right?

The chapters are told in different points of view. Her, Alice, Jenna and Sir. Chapter 2 we meet Alice, 31 years ago. She wakes up in a studio apartment where she realizes she is being watched. Suddenly she has to follow her captors rules. Chapter 3 we meet Jenna, 41 years ago. Her dad is in the army of sorts, she finds a girl naked with her wrists slit in the locker room at school and calls for help. With chapter 4 we meet Sir, so we now know all the main characters. 31 years ago we find him at his set of shipping containers, that look like apartments on the inside. Able to ensure nothing gets in or out.

Each chapter gives just enough to leave you wanting more and then switches point of view until it all comes together.

Thank you SB Rogue for partnering with NetGalley. I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

This book was a little confusing with the different povs. It was a good read but I was struggling to figure out who was who and what year the book was in a certain time.

The description and title had me interested, but the book as a whole let me down. The three different points of view plus the going back in time made it a difficult read for me. I did like how everything came together in the end.

Book Title: The Good Girl
Author: S.B. Rogue
Genre: Dark Romance / Suspense

Review

The Good Girl by S.B. Rogue is an intoxicating blend of dark romance, suspense, and emotional depth that keeps you hooked from start to finish. With its morally gray characters, slow-burning tension, and a plot that keeps you guessing, this book is a gripping and addictive read.

The story follows a protagonist who appears to be the perfect “good girl” on the outside but is hiding secrets that could unravel everything. As she finds herself entangled with a dangerous yet irresistible love interest, the tension builds in a way that is both thrilling and deeply emotional. Rogue masterfully explores themes of control, desire, and the fine line between danger and passion, making for a compelling and unpredictable journey.

The characters are one of the book’s strongest elements. The protagonist’s internal struggles are well-developed, and the love interest is equally complex—both alluring and dangerous in a way that keeps you questioning his true motives. Their dynamic is intense, filled with push-and-pull tension that makes their relationship feel raw and electric.

While the book delivers on suspense and chemistry, some parts of the plot feel slightly rushed or could have used more development, particularly in the later half. A bit more depth into certain side characters and their motivations would have made the story even stronger. That said, the writing is sharp, atmospheric, and emotionally charged, making up for any pacing issues.

Overall, The Good Girl is a thrilling, steamy, and emotional read that will appeal to fans of dark romance with high stakes and complex relationships. S.B. Rogue delivers a story filled with passion, secrets, and just the right amount of danger, making it a book that lingers in your mind long after you’ve turned the last page.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read the good girl I highly recommend others to give it a read. The whole book had me flabbergasted I was over coming up with so many theories like you knew what you was doing writing this.

Different timelines in different decades…Multiple points of views…Three stories mashed together. There were scenes of dark romance (captivity and a “Sir”), a thriller (a confessional is involved)/mystery (who is everyone and how they fit together?), coming of age (teenage sapphic love?). I was kind of confused and would possibly have enjoyed three separate novels instead. But I sure did finish because I had to know how these stories pulled together and the how book ended. 3.5 stars
Thanks to the author for an eARC -opinion is my own and honest.

I was thoroughly confused throughout this book.

There were too many stories and characters.
Which made my head spin.

I just couldn't get into it at all

Trope & Genre Highlights: Multi-POV w/Time jumps, psychological thriller, dark romance, masked man, forced proximity.

When Alice is kidnapped the time line unfolds to reveal why she was kidnapped, who she is, and what her future holds.

Thoughts: Congrats on your debut novel! 🎉 I found The Good Girl to be incredibly intriguing. It truly kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time dying to know how the story would unfold and what was going to happen next. There are some parts that I personally wished were more fleshed out, but I feel like the exclusion led to more of the mystery of this novel. Overall, it was a good book & I can’t wait to see what you write next.

Holy hell that was a wild ride! Starting out I had no idea which way this was going to go, I finished chapter one and immediately texted my bestfriend “this woman is gonna blow up the confessional” then bam I’m going back decades to see how Jenna, Sam, Sir, Alice, Her and Father Cilice got the point where this was the choice to make. This was romance and mystery and thriller all thrown into one dark romantic book and I ate it up!

This is the type of book that will have you saying “Holy Shit!” as soon as you reach the end. This was DARK and I loved it. At first the time line and characters seemed too confusing to keep up with, but we quickly see why and how it’s set up like that. It wasn’t feeding us the mystery, we were part of it, and I really appreciated that as a reader!

This book was interesting and I'm not sure I mean that in a good way. It was fairly easy to figure out what was going on with the Father and why he was visited at the confessional so that took a little of the fun out of the book for me.
Between Jenna being a shit partner, Sam being a complete brat, Sir being well Sir, and the weird timeline for everything I just didn't love this story. That's not to say you shouldn't give this book a try for yourself, it just wasn't my favorite. <spoiler><spoiler>Also where tf did Jeff go? What was the point of his character? Was Jeff just a random character? I didn't get clarity on this part. And I thought Alice deserved a better ending than the one she got. </spoiler></spoiler>

Not my vibe but definetly could be good for those who like their darker romance themes. It was very confusing having the multiple timelines and I often got lost in the story and wasn’t able to understand what was happening.

I don't know what I read but I liked it. I finished this a few weeks ago and forgot to review it. It follows more than one story and timeline. I honestly was surprised by the way this story followed for me. I loved it and can't wait to read more by SB.

This book follows multiple timelines and perspectives that jump around a lot. Jenna and Sam are this immediate love that just seems to keep missing each other while they grow from lusty teens to women making their way into adulthood. Then enter’s Sir who throws a wrench into everything.
The narrative is great although predictable, it’s easy to figure out who is who in the subtext of the chapters. I found the bouncing around of timelines to be confusing at first but it does start to become easier.
I expected way more steam than was actually given in this read, a lot of angst without the reader getting any of the follow through.
Overall, this read just left me unsatisfied in all ways.

Following multiple timeliness, The Good Girl is a bit challenging to follow at times. Overall just too much back and forth, I felt myself getting confused and bored.

This was extremely hard to follow. Between the different characters to the plot itself, it was really difficult to finish.
