Dan Jones is one of my favorite British historians working today, and his book on the Houses of Lancaster and York was absolutely gripping. History from this era can sometimes be dry, with a focus on the mechanics of battle, but Jones brings the people of the era to life, helping the reader to forge a much more personal connection with men and women who lived centuries ago.
