I can't say I'm a Tolkien expert, though I certainly admire his contributions to the literary craft. This doesn't promise to be a full biography--and it's not--but for someone like me who didn't know much to begin with, I found it fun and interesting to read. I don't know that a tried and true fan of Tolkien would discover anything new in these pages, but if you are really a tried and true, you can appreciate anything on your favorite writer. I think I'll be gifting it to a family member who is the biggest of fans.

This book was requested when I was young and requested more books than I could possibly read. Sadly, I no longer have access to this book and my tastes have changed. Thus I will not be able to give feedback on this title.
