I really enjoyed this as a opening chapter of the Ash & Rage series, it had that element that worked with the world and was glad everything had that feel that I wanted. The characters were everything that I was hoping for and wanted to keep reading about them. Janelle Marie has a great way of telling the story and leaving the reader wanting more.

I felt like the storyline was a interesting idea it was just missing all the right ingredients to make it delicious. It didn’t keep my attention at all, I honestly got pretty bored. Just had too much detail about the wrong things and it was very slow paced.

This was a different type of story to read for me. I enjoyed the idea of the book but didn’t connect completely with the characters. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
