Fantastic audio book full cast narration. the story kept me guessing the entire time. It has strong character development and a well-paced plot that wasn't overwhelming or confusing. The length was perfect. Engaging without dragging on or feeling rushed. I am excited to read the rest of this series!

Watch your Back by Terri Parlato
Eve and Nathan have a beautiful life and a daughter. Trouble starts when their daughter is kidnapped from the babysitters house.. her husband Nathan had been having an affair and it’s up to Rita to find out just what is going on in their home.
The narration was pretty decent with this one. The book was really good most of the way through and then the ending… was weird. It was a bit overdone. The rest of it was epic. So many possibilities. So many threads to tug at and I loved it. I wish the ending hadn’t ended like that. The plot was solid though and if you like twisty thrillers with many POV this one’s for you.
3.75 stars rounded to 4

Even though this was book 3, I was able to read and follow along with no problems. I loved the characters that Parlato created- each a bit messy but absolutely ones that we care about seeing through their story. There were lots of threads to pull here and Parlato did a great job of weaving them together to create something magical. I loved the narrators, particularly the one who voiced Rita as she really brought that character to life with her gritty voice that had lots of warmth underneath.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author Terri Parlato, and Recorded Books for my copy of this audiobook.

This book was really good! It had twisted and turns that I didn’t see coming and it kept me wanting to read more.

This was a fun mystery with some surprising twists, but some of the main ideas felt a bit too obvious.
Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for this audio arc.

Eve seemingly has the perfect life; a great job as a psychiatrist, the perfect husband, a baby. What more could she ask for? However, she works too much, her marriage is on the rocks, and her baby was just kidnapped from the babysitters.
Nathan, her husband, just broke up with his mistress, when their baby is kidnapped.
Detective Rita Myers is on the case to figure out what happened to their baby.
I enjoyed the fast-paced and multiple point of views of this book. There were a ton of suspects, and every chapter I thought it was a new person who took the baby. Overall, I enjoyed the book; however, the ending was a lot for me. I felt like there was a lot going on and I found myself questioning what was happening and if I caught everything.
The audio was fantastic. I loved that there were different narrators for the different POVs they really brought the character to life!
Thank you Terri Parlato, RB Media, and NetGalley for an ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Watch Your Back by Terri Parlato is a gripping domestic thriller that expertly weaves tension and mystery into the seemingly perfect life of psychiatrist Eve Thayer. Set against the backdrop of a cold Boston winter, Eve’s life appears idyllic: a loving husband, a baby daughter, and a home in a quiet neighborhood. However, as a series of chilling accidents—each more unnerving than the last—unfold around her, the cracks in her picture-perfect life begin to show.
The story delves into Eve's growing unease, both in her professional life and in her own home. Her work at a remodeled clinic, once an institution for the criminally insane, feels increasingly oppressive, while a break-in in the neighborhood adds to the mounting tension. Detective Rita Myers finds herself caught in the web of suspicion, unsure whether Eve is a victim or a suspect, and the twists intensify as an ice storm batters the town, bringing the hidden truths to light.
Parlato does a fantastic job of building suspense and creating a strong sense of paranoia. As Eve’s life unravels, the reader is left questioning every character’s motives, making for a highly engaging and unpredictable read. With sharp writing and a pace that keeps you hooked, Watch Your Back is perfect for fans of Stacy Willingham, Greer Hendricks, and Megan Miranda. This is a brilliantly executed thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end, all while exploring the darker corners of a seemingly perfect marriage and life.

4.5 Stars!! Unputdownable page turner with great audio!
I love Detective Rita so much and the case/mystery in this installment was great.
There are so many players and so many incidents that you don't know who or what are connected. Things intertwined so well and kept you on the edge of your seat.

The audiobook version of Watch Your Back was an absolute thrill ride, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to experience it. From start to finish, the suspense never let up, making it nearly impossible to hit pause. The chilling winter backdrop set the perfect eerie tone, immediately pulling me into the mystery.
The story followed Eve Thayer, a psychiatrist trying to balance the chaos of her career, marriage, and new motherhood. But when her seemingly trustworthy babysitter failed to keep her baby safe, everything spiraled into a nightmare. As Eve and her husband Nathan grappled with the fallout, Detective Rita Myers dug into the secrets surrounding them—uncovering far more than anyone expected.
Told through multiple perspectives, the shifting POVs added layers of depth and intrigue, making it easy to get lost in each character’s motivations. The twists? Absolutely jaw-dropping. Just when things seemed to make sense, another revelation hit, keeping the tension high. One moment near the end felt a bit over-the-top, but it didn’t take away from the gripping experience.
The audiobook narration was nothing short of phenomenal. Nick Mills, Christina Moore, and Rebecca Quinn Robertson brought each character to life with incredible emotion, heightening the intensity of every scene. The combination of an immersive plot and stellar voice acting made this a standout listen.
Blending domestic suspense with police procedural elements, Watch Your Back delivered a gripping mix of secrets, deception, and high-stakes drama. The cold New England setting only added to the ominous atmosphere, making it the kind of story that keeps you up at night. This was my first Terri Parlato book, but it certainly won’t be my last!

3.5/5 rounded up
This was my first book by Terri Parlato. It was a good book and I was entertained but it's not one I'll particularly remember.
It was a nice combination of police/detective procedural and domestic thriller. I do like the storyline and that all the ends were tied up at the end.

Review: Watch Your Back - by Terri Parlato
Rating 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Version: Audiobook
As soon as I finished this audiobook, the first thing I said to myself was “talk about your past catching up to you”. 😯 It didn’t grab me right away because I found the audio a little slow and depressing to begin with. After turning the speed up I instantly became hooked. So many twists that I did not see coming until the very end and I truly loved how everyone’s roles were played out. I really liked Detective Rita’s perspective and her thought process solving the case. I would most definitely recommend this book. Terri is a new author to me and I will be checking out her other books for sure.
Synopsis - Which in my opinion does not do this book justice. “Amid the depths of a bleak Boston winter, a recently married couple find their lives and their relationship unraveling after a series of deadly accidents.
After a whirlwind courtship, Nathan and Eve have settled into domestic life. They have a lovely home on a quiet street, a beautiful baby girl, and even the perfect babysitter to care for her. And yet, something isn’t quite right.
The stress in Eve’s life is mounting, both professionally and personally. Though the clinic where she works has been remodeled since its notorious days as an institution for the criminally insane, she feels increasingly uneasy there. And in her own neighborhood, a break-in at a nearby empty house hasn't helped, either.
Detective Rita Myers hasn’t yet figured out whether Eve is a target or a suspect, but every disturbing discovery in this usually peaceful neighborhood seems to revolve around her. Only as a deadly ice storm crashes through does it become clear just how far from perfect Eve and Nathan’s lives really are. And as the cracks in the surface come to light, so do the sinister secrets that lie beneath . . .”
Thank you @netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

A solid 4 stars on this one! While it didn’t grab me right away and I found the audio a little slow moving to start, I turned the speed up to 1.5 and before I knew it I was hooked. This was a solid mystery that kept me guessing and although I guessed parts of it, there were still some surprises.
This wasn’t an edge of your seat kind of thriller, but it was a solid, good old-fashioned kind of mystery and I enjoyed reading Rita’s viewpoint. It felt a little like being in an old detective mystery. An enjoyable listen!

I guess this book is part of a series, which wasn’t clear to me prior to listening. It makes sense now that I know that though. I enjoyed the multiple point of views this book had but it moved a little slower than I would have liked.

This story is told from multiple POV - a wife, a husband, and a detective. I found the pace to be very slow and the plot to be a bit far fetched.
It wasn't advertised that this was book three in the Detective Rita Myers series. While most of the book works okay as a standalone, there were several things in Rita's personal life that seemed missing. It makes sense now to know that there were others in the series.
I dont know if it would have been better if I had read the others but I felt that I was missing background information (Publishers, PLEASE start advertising books as being part of a series!)
Many thanks to NetGalley and RBMedia for allowing me to read this ALC.

This was a good quick read. There were good twists and suspense.
Thank you to RBmedia via NetGalley for the opportunity to listen and review this book.

I liked this book but the twists at the end we are a little much and too interconnected, it didn't seem possible to have that many connections with the same person. But still enjoyed.

Apparently this was a series and I didn’t realize it, but still enjoyed it as a stand alone book :) It’s a quite typical mystery/domestic stuff and not bad at all, but forgettable as well. Narration was good.

This book was okay for me! My rating would fall somewhere in the middle of the road, not the best, not the worst. I think the book starts off very promising, and it kept me intrigued, but it was kind of a slow burn to the end. There was some twists that I didn’t see coming and some that were expected. Overall, this was a decent read.

WOW! I haven't read anything by this author yet but this was a great first taste of her work!
This was so good, the only thing that fell a tiiiiny bit short (enough for 1 star off but not to seriously take away any enjoyment of the rest of the story) was the big baddie reveal.
I thought the narrators were great for this story. I was kept interested in the story, their pacing was good, and emotions were conveyed well.
The story, overall, was tense and I was so interested in finding out what would happen! There were some thrilling moments and lots of times I did NOT know who to trust! Just how I like a thriller/ mystery to be :)
TW for kidnapping, coma, and de@th (of side character).

I really liked this book! I hadn't heard of this author, but was interested in the premise. The narration, story, multiple perspectives made this book really great! I was guessing up until the very end.
