Method of reading: Audiobook

Listening to both of Megan Lally’s books back to back makes it clear that she is very capable of writing different types of Thrillers. While her debut had a teen detective lens applied to it, “No Place To Hide” has more of a traditional thriller plot. Megan’s world building is as exceptional as it was in her debut, but this does lend itself to more of an initial slow burn; however, she has a knack of ramping up the action discreetly where by the time the reader realizes it they are in the final act and not wanting to put the book down. That being said, the story and protagonists were better in “That’s Not My Name,” and “No Place To Hide” suffers from a sophomore slump. This includes the duel timeline storytelling device not being as effective this time around, and leads to some things being repeated for no real reason. It’s still a solid medium to fast paced read/listen, but it is just not as compelling and the twist is telegraphed too much.

Highly recommend this to YA Thriller lovers. The pacing of this book is absolutely relentless! The seamless back-and-forth between past and present, the mounting pressure, the explosive climax, and the shocking twists all make for a thrilling ride. The fast pace and jaw-dropping revelations nearly pushed me to give this book five stars. That said, the characters are some of the most unlikable I've encountered in a while. The antagonist is utterly despicable—so much so that you’ll feel the urge to punch them in the face. But even the victim and supporting characters are hard to root for, which makes their motives seem somewhat implausible.

Without delving too deeply into spoilers, there are a few plot holes that left me scratching my head. For instance, it felt unrealistic that only one person would be caught, while others seemingly walk away unscathed. But I’ll leave it at that to avoid revealing too much.

Ultimately, I recommend going into this book without any preconceived notions. Form your own theories and opinions as you read!

I guessed right away what would happen in this book, but it was an interesting enough story that I continued listening. My eyes grew big a couple of times and I couldn't imagine the way these high schoolers lived, but oh well...you get what you get and karma will come around.

I have never finished an audio book is one day before, but I did with this one. I had errands to run and I was decorating a wedding cake, so I had a lot of time to listen.

This book was one that was intriguing, but also it was juvenile at the same time. definitely a YA thriller. I didn't love how two faced some people could be and everyone seemed to fit that idea.

I will share this title on Friday, Jan 17th on my instagram at www.instagram.com/robinashleyreads

Thank you to NetGalley and RBmedia for the ARC

No Place Left to Hide is a YA mystery told in two timelines. I liked the slower build up and favored the past timeline. While the current was interesting I also found it a bit predictable. The past on the other hand, was more alluring. I really didn't like our FMC but that was part of the fun. An interesting, ok book.

Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to listen to the audiobook of "No Place Left to Hide". I had high hopes for this book. "That's Not My Name" was one of my favorite books of 2024. This book just did not hit the same for me. It was a good story. I would still recommend it. I just found it slightly predictable which comes with reading as much as I do.

Great young adult thriller. I rated it a little lower because it’s a little too YA for my taste but I think if that’s what you enjoy it will be great. Twists and turns and fast paced. Narrator did a great job in the audio book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Megan Lally, and Recorded Books Media for an ARC audiobook!

No Place Left to Hide is a fast-paced YA thriller that really kept me hooked from start to finish.

And tbh- I love any story with a dual timeline. Give me past and present day interweaving chapter by chapter and I’m SAT. The pacing of this story was fantastic. And I really enjoyed the overall plot!

This story focuses on Brooke, a straight-A, picture perfect girl. She’s most likely headed to an Ivy League school, because of course she is! How could she not? Her whole family is perfect so she has to be, too.

This story really captures the pressures that come with “perfection” and what that can do to a highschool age girl who spends every waking moment trying to be “perfect” and weaving secrets because of this innate need to be “perfect” and live up to her family’s expectations of her.

And of course- it’s twisty and turny as every thriller should be!

**Review of *No Place Left to Hide* by Megan Lally**

Megan Lally delivers a gripping thriller in *No Place Left to Hide* that had me hooked from start to finish. The narrator brought the story to life, adding depth and urgency that kept me fully engaged. The plot’s twists and turns were captivating, leaving me both surprised and somehow satisfied with an ending I didn’t fully see coming—though part of it felt inevitable in the best way.

I couldn’t stop listening, eager to unravel the mystery, and it was impossible not to reflect on my own high school experiences. This book served as a reminder that my teenage years weren’t as intense as those faced by the characters (thankfully!).

If you’re looking for a well-narrated, edge-of-your-seat thriller that keeps you guessing, *No Place Left to Hide* is a must-listen!

Thanks NetGalley for the audio of this book! I was hooked from the beginning! Loved the flashbacks of what happened before with Brooke regarding “the incident”. While she’s trying to put her life back together and move forward towards her dream college, someone won’t let her forget what happened that night! Brooke is very driven to live up to her family name and nothing will get in the way of that. The story begins to pick up when Brooke is driving back from the party prior to her curfew with bestie and her stalker pursues her on the only road in and out of town. I didn’t except the ending. I love when that happens! I really enjoyed this story!!

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook for my honest review.

This book was really fast paced and so thrilling that it really kept me hooked throughout the whole book. I however found it very hard to like any of the characters or had any connections with them. This is almost giving PLL/Gossip Girl vibes rolled into one but with really unlikeable characters. I give it 3.5 overall for being really fast paced and a quick read.

This is my first Megan Lally book, AND NOW, every single one of her books just got moved to the top of my TBR! Last year, I read every Noelle Ihli book, she quickly became my favorite author. 2025's author just might be Megan Lally! If you loved Run on Red, then you'd love No Place Left to Hide. Brooke, I have no words. What an amazing character, I do not want to say too much be a spoiler.

Thank you, NetGalley for the early listen.

No Place Left to Hide was such a fun, popcorn, YA thriller. The pacing of the book was great and the narration by Justis Bolding was so engaging and well done. Audio is definitely the format to go for this one! Lally is becoming an auto-read author for me!

This was so fast paced! I love when there is never a dull moment. Albeit somewhat predictable this is still thoroughly enjoyable! The characters are annoying, yes, but they’re supposed to be. They’re snobby, spoiled brats. The only thing I disliked was the ending. I felt the others should’ve gotten into trouble too. Loved the past and present timelines too! Definitely want to check out more from this author!

In this suspenseful murder mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end, Brooke, the main character, appears to have it all–she is privileged, having gone to an exclusive private school and with her family owning a fancy lake house, and she has just received news that she’s been admitted to an Ivy League school. Her dad is a prominent figure in the community, and she has taken on a plethora of committees to volunteer with. Really the only things that seem to be bringing her down are social–she can’t get her crush to ask her to prom and she has an ex-friend turned bully. However, as you quickly find out, all is not as good as it seems. The story unravels through past and present at breakneck speed. The one negative to this is the ending–it got tied up too neatly with not nearly enough people being implicated. Still highly recommended, especially for those reluctant teen readers.

3 1/2 stars rounded up. Excellent narration, loved the voice and really feel that it matched with the main character. I was able to listen at my normal double speed without any problems.

Totally loved and enjoyed that’s not my name by this author and was super excited to be given an advanced reader copy of this one!

Well, I really enjoyed the storyline, was very twisty and definitely had things that I did not see coming, it was really hard to get over some of the behaviors and concerns of our main character. It was a bit over the top and definitely extreme, especially For a capital YA book. And that genre also gives me much feelings about the amount of swearing that is present in this book, including the use of the GD word. I personally don’t really care for that in any book but I definitely don’t need it in a YA book. It’s just sleazy.

Definitely don’t think I’ll be forgetting about Brooke Goodwin or her character for a while.

Thank you to NetGalley for my advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review, all opinions are my own.

Brooke Godwin is the daughter of her town's most prominent attorney. Trained by her parents to maintain the family's social status and good name, Brooke feels the pressure.....especially when her own past comes back to haunt her in a way that could easily disgrace her entire family.

I absolutely loved this one! "That's Not My Name" was my favorite book of 2023 so I had very high expectations for this one and they were met. The setting and characters in this book are definitely much more distinctly YA than in "That's Not My Name" but the writing is so good and so relatable (at least to a former private school kid) that it caught my attention immediately and held it the entire way. Alternating between the past (a very normal high school party) and the present (a high-speed chase down a remote highway) the book was well paced and stayed in the past long enough to give you the full story but not so long that I got sick of the high school drama. The high school parts provided good back story, and the car chase part gave me 'No Exit' and 'Run on Red' vibes which I really enjoyed.

5 Stars for me for sure, absolutely adore this author and can't wait for more!

This story is told from the past and present view of rich girl Yale hopeful Brooke Goodwin.
Brooke finds herself being stalked and harassed by an unknown individual relating to an incident that happened 6 months ago. She doesn't tell anyone about these intersections. She later finds herself at a party and things start to go WRONG.

I'm giving this one a 3/5 rating due to the fast pace and tension building left at the end of each chapter.
I unfortunately predicted the twist so that was underwhelming to me, however I did really enjoy the end.

I would recommend this book if you like
* Dual time-line
* High school drama
* Fast pace chapters

WHAT THE HECK?!!
I have been more gaslighted by an author and characters more.

I recently read Incidents Around the House (an award winning horror book), and I felt more terrified and thrilled listening to this.

I am not going to give any of the plot away because I went in blind and that was the best way.

If you like thrillers, contemporaries, twists, young adult… PICK THIS UP. The audiobook is really good! Another one I accidentally started listening to, looked at the time and was shocked to see it was 2am….

Arc audiobook gifted by RBmedia.

Brooke hosted a party last summer at her family's lake house, but it all ended badly: a girl died. Now, one year later, she is harrassed by an unknown caller who apparently also vandalizes her car. Who is it? What do they know?
This Mean Girls on steroids thriller is told in dual timelines, which was hard for me to follow at times in audio, but the pacing was great and the story always was moving. I'm not a fan of stupid, petty, self-centered teenagers with very poor decision-making abilities who think they can get away with everything, and the twist was suuuuuper predictable, but was I still entertained? Oddly, yes ;)
I received an advance review copy of this book for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
