This entire series is a must read. Harper L Woods does a wonderful job with pacing, plot points, and character growth in this book.

The second in a series can make it or break it. It held me enough I will continue but also left me wanting … more. It was very confusing with so many people to track and info dropping. However with series it’s a normal thing to info dump from time to time.

This book really sealed my dedication to this series and its author. I love that our protagonist is a strong woman who refuses to be ruled. I love that her dedication to that doesn't stop her from letting love into her life. I can't wait to keep reading and find out what comes next.

2.5 Stars
There’s a lot of plots and secret so it can get a little confusing. Caelum and Estrella fight a lot of people and fight each other almost every chapter. LOL Like there’s no chill and everyone is fighting or fking.

The story is mostly smut and a sprinkle of plot. The writing could improve, I wish the author gave the characters more personalities and depth. I felt like it was pretty meh.

Thank you to Tor Publishing/Bramble for the eARC

Picks up right where the last one left off. The pacing felt a bit better for me and the romance was great! Lots of tension. I like that it's a darker fantasy romance far book!

The second book in a series is always hit or miss and this one was just kind of... meh. It was interesting enough to keep me engaged to read the third.

Surprise to no one, I LOVED THIS!

This was technically a reread because I had read the indie edition before, but for some reason I loved the second readthrough a million times more! Estrella is one of my favorite FMCs particularly because of her character development in this book. She has an incredible internal struggle, constantly trying to decide if she loves or hates Caleum and trying to figure out what freedom actually means to her. All while coming into her own power and trying to figure out who or what she really is. And Caldris?? UGH WE LOVE A SUPPORTIVE MATE. I love that he loves the best and worst in her and lets her have her vengeance and anger, using it as she needs to. I will never understand why he isn't a bigger book boyfriend because he is my FAVORITE.

The story moves a lot faster than I remember it moving, and the last half of the book is crazy. It *does* feel like a very long journey though, so if you aren't a fan of the plot basically being traveling from point A to point B and things happen along the way, you're not going to be a fan. This was definitely far more character driven vs plot driven, but I ATE IT UP.

Plus Estrella gets puppies. Who DOESN'T want dogs??? Okay, they're wolves, but STILL. I love the reveal at the end, and I can't wait to start book 3 and see what else I've forgotten in this series! Definitely continues to be one of my favorites!!

Will not be continuing with this series as I did not enjoy the first book.

Thank you for the earc.

This was a decent read. I liked the first one better, but this was okay too. There was a lot of romance, not a lot of character development or plot.

Review: Wow. Book 2 will leave you biting your nails and wishing for the next book to release. This book answers most of our questions…just in time to give us more! Be warned though that this book is DARK.

We begin where we left book 1 and this time we get to read fromCaelen’s POV as well. After learning in book 1 that Caelen is really Caldris, the God of the Dead, Estrella feels betrayed and lied to. As she gropes with her feelings for him and learns to move past the deceit we begin to learn just how deep his love runs and how much he wants to protect her from Mab.

Caldris is a God. While in most books he would be cold and uncaring at first, we find him loving and wishing the he could fix what he did wrong. While he knows that his actions will help in the end, he is heartbroken that he caused her such pain.

In book 2 we get the meet the Wild Hunt more and we also meet more of the secondary cast. While it is suspected that Estrella is the long lost daughter of Queen Mab, we learn that Fallon who lived with the resistance could also be.

As they journey back to the fae lands, tension rises and Estrella finds that she is unable to deny the bond and love she has for Caldris. I enjoyed seeing the growth of her in this book and felt like it set her up for the future roles she would play in the series. I also really loved the friendship between her, Imelda and Fallon.

This book has a lot of steam! It is hot and twisty and will make you want more! I enjoyed having Caldron’s POV so we could see his mind and learn more about him. He becomes more alphaholish and possessive in this book and we also begin to see that Estrella doesn’t really need him to protect her.

Overall, this book had darker themes than book 1 and as secrets are revealed and power is gained, we see just how dangerous Estrella is becoming. This book sets the scene for the next books and makes us wonder…what exactly is Estrella?

Rating: 100/100, omg that cliffhanger at the end!

I've heard such great things about this series and when I was offered the chance to read them as they were re-released I jumped on it!

I think i would've liked this better tho if it hadn't felt like a carbon copy of every other romantasy fae book out there. Yes this is a "darker" romance but ehhh. Ill read book three and see how I feel.

Harper can write a sentence. Her writing is captivating and embraces the feelings of her characters. I am obsessed with this series. Also, Caelum owns dogs? A goddamn KING.

I love the characters in this. Estrella and Caelum are some of the most interesting people I've ever had the pleasure of reading about. Estrella is strong, and I love seeing her thought process. Caelum is possessive and an absolute hunky simp with touch her and die vibes. Together, they are explosive, and I truly think they could take over the world. They are goals. They are endgame. They both own my heart, and honestly I think I have a bookish crush on both of them. The smut? Delicious. The worldbuilding is amazing. The plot is interesting as hell.

If you like ACOTAR, From Blood and Ash, and The Bargainer series, there is a very good chance that you'd like this series. Like I'd put money on it.

While the premise was nice, the writing was... not what I expected. I wanted more from the characters because I felt that what was on the front cover and the front flap was not what we were given.

"Never pretend to be something you’re not. Never dull how bright you burn so that others may feel comfortable in your presence.”

I was so excited to read this one after that whopper cliffhanger from the last book, and it does NOT disappoint! Callum is so adoring, and I loved them traveling and getting to know each other better - especially the intimate bits. If you loved book 1, you will love book 2 even more. Enjoy the ride! ;)

What Hunts Inside the Shadows is the second book in the Of Flesh & Bone series. It picks up following the ending revelations of book 1, and that’s a major focus for Estrella throughout this book. She needs to come to terms with her relationship and feelings for Caelum while also processing his betrayal. I really enjoyed this aspect. It felt natural and realistic to go between emotions. I also thought her development arc in general was well done. Additionally, I loved that we got more world building and more of the fae lore. It really added to my overall enjoyment of the book and series. The plot was also stronger in this installment. It was more of a fully developed arc, and I appreciated that. For me, book 2 was better than book 1. If the writing and plot development continues at this pace, each book will be better than the last, and I’m here for it. I’m excited to continue the series with the next book.

I received an ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and were not affected by the free copy.

When I saw that book 4, What Sleeps Within the Cove, along with rest of the series was available on NetGalley, I knew this was the perfect time to complete a reread. So, this is not the first time I've read the series; however, my memory is absolutely terrible, I remembered basically nothing about the books, hence, the reread.

Shocker, Caelum isn't human, he's Estrella's Fae Marked Mate. And not just any Fae, but Caldris, God of the Dead. Estrella's feeling betrayed, yet still drawn to him in a way she cannot entirely control.

This book was definitely better than the first, I enjoyed the pacing much more, and I liked Caldris better; he was still super arrogant and occassionally used the dreaded nickname, but he's starting to see that Estrella is way more important that just to him, and I enjoyed that immensely. She forgave him a little too quickly for my taste, I had hoped she'd make him suffer a little bit more, but he was too arrogant for that to ever happen, he was too confident he was always right.

I wish we got more out of the side characters, they are all one dimensional, and I wish that we did more than spend most of the book travelling. However, I enjoyed watching Estrella grow more into her confidence, and I especially loved the wolves.

Obviously, I'm continuing the series since I'm excited for book 4, and I recommend the series for romantasy fans.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group for an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. What Hunts Inside the Shadows by Harper Woods was a surprise for me because it’s not often that I enjoy the sequel more than the first book in a series! I thought Harper Woods did a great job of transitioning this book from where I was left off in the first one as it picks up immediately where it left off. I really do enjoy the relationship dynamic between Estrella and Caelum but I will say the spiciness of the romance is not for everyone! Please make sure you read the disclaimers! My favorite lines of the book were “you are the only star in my sky”, which earns a response of “you are the only light in my darkness.” I thought that was beautifully woven in to the book, especially with the character development for both of the main characters. This book did leave on a big cliffhanger in the last 10 to 15 pages so I’m excited to read the next one!

I’m so excited to see how beautifully these are being re-released. It’s one of my favorite series and one of the best enemies to lovers I’ve read.

3.5 ⭐

I enjoyed the pacing of this book a bit more, as we being to uncover more of Estrella's history along with all of the characters. It was nice to see that she has begun to accept who she is and solidify her relationship with Caldris.

The spice is great but I felt like the characters were once again traveling the entire time and things felt a bit redundant.

I did enjoy the ending as well and will be continuing on to book 3 now that things seem to be picking up.

Thank you to Tor Publishing/Bramble for the eARC in exchange for my honest review ahead of the release of the special edition
