Lady Gaga is Life is a biography chronicling the career of Lady Gaga, breaking down her creative journey into a timeline, a discography, a series of memes, and even a Gaga-specific ABCs.The book includes beautiful illustrations of some of Gaga’s iconic fashion moments and is written simply with obvious love for the subject. The book is intended for fans, and while it doesn’t offer anything particularly unique in its discussion of the pop star, it would be a nice addition to any Little Monster’s collection.

The illustrations are perhaps the best part of the book. They’re stunning and detailed, although since many of them are copies from popular photos of Lady Gaga they lost some of their novelty around midway through the book. These illustrations go chronologically, allowing the reader to see the visual evolution of Gaga’s persona. This is interesting, however since only a small portion of the book is dedicated to a chronological examination of Gaga’s career, the illustrations are usually disconnected from the text. This didn’t bother me while I was reading, but I think it would have enhanced the experience if the illustrations were arranged to be more closely related to the text around it.

While the writer doesn’t offer any groundbreaking information about Gaga or her career, the information is arranged in a fun, unique way. Particularly entertaining were the ABCs and the meme sections where the author explores various inspirations and viral Gaga moments. This unique and humorous framing is where the author shines and really shows the positive impact Gaga has had on her fans. These sections are likely the parts that Little Monsters will enjoy most when reading through this book because they go slightly deeper in their explanation of Gaga than the other sections in the book do.

I am a Lady Gaga fan which is why I requested this book as an ARC in the first place. The writing in this book is relatively simply, which would usually make me comfortable giving it to a middle grade or high school reader. However, the author is true to Gaga’s more adult target audience and includes language and illustrations that would keep it pretty firmly in the adult section of the library. I think this is important to remember if you’re trying to recommend this book to someone, as some minors might like the writing style but depending on their values or backgrounds might not be fully comfortable with some aspects of the book, but adults might be dissatisfied with the simple writing and prefer something more complex or deeper than what this book provides. Overall, this book is fine. I would get it as a gift for a Gaga fan, but I don’t need it on my personal bookshelf.

This is a must-have for any Lady Gaga fan. Narrative is engaging and the photos in the book are incredible. Highly recommend.

This book is a very high-level summary of Lady Gaga's career from the beginning up to the ill-fated Joker musical. I enjoyed reading about her career and there was a higher than average, for a book about a very well-known artist, new pieces of information I wasn't familiar with.

I did find that the order of material didn't seem to have much rhyme or reason to it - but with its magazine structure, it's a pretty quick read and would be enjoyable to Lady Gaga fans.

Great visuals and breakdown of Lady Gagas life, both musical and acting. Really enjoyed the art work of all her outfits.

What an inspirational story! Lady Gaga had setbacks and some people wanted her to compromise her vision, but she worked hard and made sacrifices to create her own vision. Even though this book is short, it covers her history and accomplishments, and the illustrations are wonderful. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.

As a huge fan of Lady Gaga, her talent and everything she stands for I was skeptical on how this book would come across and I will say I was pleasantly surprised. Let me start out mentioning that the illustrations are STUN👏🏼NING. They are spread throughout the entire book consisting of such a lovely art style while revisiting Lady Gaga’s looks throughout the years. As someone who is familiar with Lady Gaga’s backstory and career history, I really enjoyed the way it’s presented (while even learning a little thing or two along the way!) The chapter names are clever and punny at times which I appreciated. The only inconsistency I could see was in Part 2 while exploring the albums, Born This Way didn’t include the bonus tracks while the other albums mentioned them all. As you get through to Part 3 with Lady Gaga A-Z, I really appreciated some of the deep cuts included in the fun facts. While Part 1 of the book explored her life and career from beginning to present day, Part 3 presents an opportunity to give it a bit more depth and extra detail to everything we just learned without being repetitive. Lady Gaga is Life is a fun celebration of Lady Gaga’s career for seasoned fans and new fans/those just curious for more. Thank you NetGalley for providing the ability to read this book.

I was shocked at how comprehensive this book was! As someone who is very interested in music and falls into the 'fangirl' category, I knew a decent amount about Gaga going in - enough to know that this author really did her research. The different parts detailing different sectors of her life/career were separated perfectly, and I loved that there were even breakdowns/fun facts about each specific album/film. It makes all the details super digestible to anyone, superfan or not, and draws you in to reading more. I especially loved the section about related memes that the internet has circulated - I find it really impressive that the author was able to dive into such a massive fandom and extract stuff like this that isn't answered within a standard google search or whatnot.

I wish there were illustrations of the outfits detailed within the style section. The illustrations that are already throughout the book were so great, and even though there are plenty of pictures online, I loved the artistry of the drawings, and would love having a reference point right on the page.

This is the first book I've read from this author and of this nature, and I will definitely be reading more of her books about other artists I love!

Although I'm not longer a huge listener to Lady Gaga's music, this book includes the aspects of career I adore. Her creativity and her fashion. The drawings are wonderfully adorable and the A-Z reminded me of other tidbits I enjoyed about her.

This is a really cool book. I had no idea Lady Gaga grew up in NYC, started NYU and dropped out. The illustrations were also so impressive. I would definitely recommend this book to any of her fans, would also be great as an audiobook even though you lose the images.

The '_____' Is Life are some of my favourite books I own, I own multiple including both Harry Styles and Taylor Swift's versions. The Lady Gaga Is Life by Kathleen Perricone is just as excellent as they are. This books take you on a journey through the life and success of Lady Gaga, including her music, career milestones, entrance into the style and beauty space as well as much more. A beautiful book that is lovely to read but also makes for great art in your home.

This book has gorgeous drawings and a history of Lady Gaga. This is a great book for any fan and anyone who wants to know more about Lady Gaga.

I've read several bios from Perricone and have enjoyed the format so much. Information is provided in way that is easily consumable and does not feel overwhelming, while still covering Lady Gaga's entire life up to the present. I really enjoyed the Gaga A to Z! The art is definitely an added bonus; the art in this book showcases some of Gaga's biggest fashion moments. I love the water color look! More bios should be approached in this manner!
