Thank you to NetGalley for giving me a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a beautifully illustrated book with lots of interesting information. In the days before modern medicine, people used plants and herbs available to them in nature - nature’s medicine and still today we use honey and lemon for colds, dock leaves for nettle stings or peppermint tea for digestion. There is definitely a lot to be said for natural and herbal medicine and I will be using the new information I have learnt for minor ailments.
Reviewed on Goodreads and Fable.

I've been so looking forward to this book for Lindsay and it did not disappoint! Her tarot deck and Tarot book have been invaluable guides for me, and I can't wait to add the physical version of this book to my collection in February!
Her books have the most beautiful graphics that are so clear and easy to read. And I've learned so much about herbs, flowers, and trees. While it's absolutely a book of Folklore Magick, I think it could be thoroughly enjoyed by any nature enthusiast.
A wonderful book, filled with information and love. I'd highly recommend!

thank you to netgalley, quarto publishing group and author lindsay squire for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
truly the book is beautiful. the book seems to avoid closed practices but i did not like the medicinal benefits section so casually in a book like this.

I really did like this book. It beautifully written and I love the artistic elements to the pages. The book is decided into sections of herbs, flowers and trees and gives magikal and medicinal uses for each one. With the plant ID, it shows corresponding zodiac sign, element and planet. Below it has medicinal and magikal properties. Along with easy to follow recipes for making teas, salves, tinctures and more.
Th is is a great book for beginners getting into green witching. My daughter has just begun green witching and she will get a copy of this book for some future reference and inspiration. At the end of the book, it also show plants that are deemed dangerous and should not be touched or consumed.
The only one thing about the book is a handful of pages are up side down. I didn’t not take away from the rating as it should be fixed in the final copies
Overall, this is a great book to have on any shelf

This is a beautifully illustrated beginners' guide to the craft. Squire offers wonderful insight that will help people who are just coming into witchcraft and those who have been practicing for a little while. Again, this book is visually stunning. I would recommend to anyone who wants an easy to grasp guide.

This is such a beautiful beginner’s guide. I definitely want this in a physical copy because I’m sure it’s stunning. This was full of tidbits, tricks, and tips and will come in handy for many at any stage in their practice. I will definitely use this in the future to reference back to. Thank you so much author and publisher for the ARC opportunity, it brought warmth to my soul.

Beautifully illustrated and informative! This book is a great resource for those new to the craft and those who need a refresher.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley tor an arc of this book.
Well presented information and stunning images. An absolutely beautiful book.
Perfect for someone new to the craft to garner information or for the more seasoned practitioners to use as a reference.
I will definitely be looking into the authors other works.

A great beginner’s reference book but I could see myself going back to this for quick reminders too. I was hoping there would be more folk stories told considering the title and inspiration but it still had useful information, especially about the basics. It should also be noted that I loved the artwork and color thought this book.

As someone who doesn't have a background in natural witchcraft, I thought this book was great! The authors writing style was very approachable and made the complex world of herbal medicine feel less overwhelming. The illustrations capture that whimsical folk essence while also being informative. I gave the book a four because I would have loved a section on specific recipes and spells for us beginners. Also, maybe a little more about folklore witchcraft in general. Overall, I would definitely recommend!

The Witch of the Forest’s Guide to Folklore Magick is a charming and informative exploration into the world of herbs, flowers, and tree folklore. Lindsey Squire expertly blends tradition with practical wisdom, making this book both enchanting and educational.
Squire’s approachable writing style makes the complex world of herbal medicine feel accessible to readers of all levels. Whether you're an experienced practitioner or a curious beginner, you'll find plenty of helpful tips on crafting your own healing remedies from nature’s bounty.
The illustrations are not only beautiful but also informative, providing a lovely visual complement to the text. The artwork adds a whimsical touch to the learning experience.
Overall, The Witch of the Forest’s Guide to Folklore Magick is a delightful resource for anyone interested in herbal lore, magical practices, or simply the wonders of the natural world. It’s a book that invites you to look deeper into the plants around you, seeing them through a lens of both beauty and ancient wisdom.

If you liked her first books you will probably like this one. Very visual with nice graphics. It is more of a reference book then a how to and there are certainly books that dive deeper in the topic but this is a nice overview.

3.75 stars
A beautifully illustrated, amusing witchy themed read. It feels like you stumbled upon a book on the shelve of a witches cabin in the forest. As you are now her student learning all you can with the help of a creative text.
Thank you for such a fun, whimsical read.

I really love this series of books. They are great for beginner witches and beautifully illustrated. This book begins with the various uses of herbs (teas, tissanes, poultices, salves ect) and how to make them. This is followed by a herbiary section with folklore for each plant as well as magical and medicinal uses. Next up is section with much the same information about flowers then trees. Before finishing up with baneful herbs.
Overall I would say this is a great beginner book but leans more towards green witchcraft than specific folk practices.

I’m absolutely enchanted by The Witch of the Forest's Guide to Folklore Magick! It’s such a lovely introduction to folklore magick, especially for beginners who are just starting to explore the world of herbs, flowers, and trees. While the plants covered are pretty basic, the book still offers a solid foundation and plenty of inspiration to dive deeper. Plus, the illustrations? Stunning! It’s the kind of guide you’ll want to keep nearby—both for practical reference and just to flip through for its beauty. I especially appreciated the section on baneful herbs, which you don’t often see in beginner-friendly resources. It really sparked my curiosity! Whether you’re just starting your magickal journey or looking for the perfect gift for a new witch in your life, this book is a gem!

Absolutely love this book!!! There is so much information. The layout is beautiful and easy to follow. I especially love the profiles of each herb that include the coinciding planets and zodiac signs. Definitely a must for any witchy person's library!!

Thank you so much to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book. This title had to be read through the app, so I want to preface this by saying I would love to buy a physical copy once this releases. I downloaded this book today and finished it in one sitting. I really loved the accessibility of this guide overall. It has a very clean layout and the illustrations are absolutely beautiful. I had a strong appreciation for the charts included. As a fantasy author, I'm always looking for new references, especially when it comes to witchcraft and herbal remedies. to get my characters out of a bind. I was most fascinated by some of the darker/poisonous plants, and enjoyed reading about the folklore that served as an introduction to the plants and their medicinal and magical properties.
I would have loved to see more folklore throughout the book, but that's truly more of a personal preference. I think this is a great guide for someone who is looking to casually dip a toe into the world of witchcraft and folklore magic, or for someone in the middle of doing research for a creative project! Those who are more experienced might not get the same reward while reading, but it would make a great guide for any aspiring magick lovers out there.
My personal favorite was the section about dandelions! I had no idea they could be used to summon spirits! This was fascinating to me both as a reader and a writer.

This is an easy to read reference book with cute illustrations. However, this doesn’t go very in depth regarding the folklore connections of any of the plants discussed throughout the book. I did like that there was the beginning section detailing different ways to utilize these plants (poultices, tinctures, teas, etc.) but it would have been helpful to have some specific instructions on how to create these applications, rather than just a general brief of what they are.

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. I gave it the fourth star for the illustrations and wonderful illustrated charts. I will buy a copy of the book when it's published for those alone. For the experienced witch and or herbalist the information in the book will be very basic but I would recommend it to young or new witches or people who, like me, can't resist the artwork. I also think the title is a bit misleading as there is more herblore than folklore. One other thing I loved about the book is that it contains the Anglo Saxon nine herbs charm.

Beautiful reference book about herbs, plants, flowers, and their uses in both magick and medicine. The section on dangerous/toxic plants was most interesting to me. Loved the beautiful illustrations!
