As someone who is watching the slow decline of her own mother [due to advancing grief-induced Alzheimer's], this gorgeous children's book really resonated with me, made me revisit lovely memories I have of special times spent with my Mom {I had her alone for three years before the birth of my sister and we shared a lot, some I remember, some has been told to me] and how much I have always loved having her around. I can see littles just loving this one, especially if their grownup adds personal touches to the story to make it about their own lives [because who doesn't enjoy having their OWN story told when they are little?] and they can talk about fun things they have done together.
Beautiful verse-style story with those gorgeous illustrations, this will be a quick favorite and maybe, like me, the adult reading it will remember their own childhood and time spent with their mom as well and it will make the story even more special.
Very well done!

*My Mom* is a heartwarming book that would make a perfect gift for a baby shower or Mother’s Day, especially for moms who faced challenges with pregnancy or adoption. It beautifully celebrates all the wonderful things kids do with their moms through charming illustrations and silly scenarios that bring a smile to your face. The artwork is not only gorgeous but also inclusive, featuring a mom who appears to be a partial arm amputee, making it an extra special read for children who have an amputee in their lives. This book is a touching tribute to the love between mothers and their children.

This one didn’t keep my daughter’s attention as much, but I personally loved it. The very beginning nearly made me cry. Thank you NetGalley

Oh my goodness, this is so sweet! It made me feel nostalgic.
The illustrations are warm and adorable.
This is a heartwarming story of love and appreciation, celebrating the mother-daughter bond through beautiful illustrations.
It's such a cute book!
I just want a hug from my mom.

This is adorable and I love the illustrations so much! I love the ambiguity in the story of how the family came to be (adoption, fertility treatments etc). As someone diagnosed with infertility, this book touched my heart in a special way. Thank you for allowing me to read it.

Thank you NetGalley and Susan Quinn for the ARC in exchange for honest feedback.
The illustrations are gorgeous and as a mom, I want this book on my shelf. The story warmed my heart and I’m so glad the wording didn’t have religious undertones like others do when parents wish for a child.

The illustrations in this book are so vividly colorful, I couldn’t help but smile as I flipped through the pages. This book shows a mother through her child’s eyes, and the illustrations reflect that—they are full of scenes from a child’s memory and imagination. The page depicting the child’s dreams was my favorite page, full of all of the most fun memories of life with her mother. A very cute read!

My Mom is a gently illustrated book about a young girl and her mother. They go on adventures, some small and some scary but with mom around things always turn out right. Through the illustrations, it becomes obvious that the mom has some kind of physical limb difference, but it's so subtle that it's easy to miss it. This does not stop her from doing all the mom stuff that brings joy to a child's heart. This will be a delightful read for mothers and daughters to share while celebrating their relationship.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC! This is a sweet story of a mom and child, told by the child. It’s a great bedtime story since it ends with them reading before bed all cuddled up. My 3yo liked the story and illustrations. As a mom, I just like sweet stories about moms and their kids.

I loved this book. I loved the illustrations but I especially loved the story and the message it conveyed. If I had a child I would buy this book for them.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy

Very sweet representative picture book about life with a mom who does everything for you. This could be used with kids of a single mom, split parents or even a same-sex female couple.

It is a sweet story book about the bond between mother and daughter. There are a lot of similar books in the market, so it will be difficult for this one to stand out.

Such a sweet read. As a mom, I aspire to be the mother who my children can remember in this type of manner.

A cute and heartwarming story about mothers and their children, whether biological or not. In my opinion, there is nothing better than being a mom. Sweet and lovely book!

This book is a beautiful demonstration of all the little things that mothers' do that may feel insignificant to them but in reality mean the world to a child.
It is written from the point of view of a child and features bright, vibrant illustrations which reflect the creativity and imagination of a child's mind.
The illustrations have been created using a range of mediums and work perfectly with the story.
The description for this book includes this passage; "With a wonderful inclusive feel, all mother and child relationships are celebrated in this story—whether biological or adoptive mothers." I don't see that reflected in the story at all. Perhaps because the mother and daughter look a bit different, she may be adopted. I would not include this in the description because it's promising something that really isn't there. It also isn't particularly 'stereotype-busting' which is totally fine, but it would be better to not over promise.
Overall our family enjoyed it and we had fun pointing out all the different things in each of the pages.

Thank you, Susan Quinn and NetGalley for the early preview of this Children’s picture book.
Title: My Mom
Author: Susan Quinn
Brief Description: A short picture book that shows all the ways a hands-on mom is present in her child’s life.
Review: As a mom, this book is a great confidence boost to show all of the things I may consider to be “small” are actually BIG things in my child’s life. I love the way this book makes simple things like finding Teddy is a huge win for mom and shows how much we mean in their lives. But that’s just all the feel-goods for me. However, I was anticipating something that incorporates a working mom into the story. I’m not sure what stereo-types were busted with this story as the description says.
With having a 19 month old, I think this book is better suited for above 2 years old. Although I don’t mind the way this book is written, it believe it takes a bit more attention span and understanding. The art on each page is beautiful and captures the vision of art done by a child, which I think is a cute consideration. It is not a book that rhymes and doesn’t have images that might capture the attention of younger children. It was a short read which is one that would be good for a quick nap or bedtime story. With having niblings around 5 years old, it seems appropriate to that age.

My mom is everything that I need her to be and is always there when I need her. My mom is amazing!
The illustrations by Sarah Mathew (Illustrator) are inspired, softly colorful, and FUN!
Well suited for reading WITH someone any age from 4 and up including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!

This was a really cute and heart warming story that I would love to read to my child! I am always looking for cute stories about how much I love to go on adventures with him and how I have always dreamed of him. The artwork o this read is absolutely beautiful. This book would be perfect for a young child to have read to them!

I read this book to my little ones and they both enjoyed the book immensely. It’s such a sweet little story filled with beautiful illustrations and loving words between mother and child.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an eARC of this book, "My Mom" by Susan Quinn. This children's book highlights the relationship of a mom and daughter, told from the perspective of the daughter. The daughter describes all the special things her mom does with and for her. It's very sweet. The art is very well done, and fits nicely with the story. Per the notes and description, this is a "stereotype-busting" story about a child who is adopted, however this didn't seem to actually be any part of the book. I didn't see a mention of her biological parents, who must have been quite distraught to have to give up their child. And I didn't see mention of the mom helping the child connect with her cultural roots. So I'm confused about how that connects to the story. It also appears that this is a transracial adoption, which is an incredibly problematic and inherently trauma-inducing practice. This is a "do not recommend" for me, but the story is ok if you ignore the adoption subplot, so I'll allow 2 stars, since most children would not notice that it's about adoption without an adult pointing it out.
