This was a well done instruction manual for those interested in watercolor painting especially for butterflies and flowers. I am very interested in learning about watercolor painting and while this book has very clear step by step instructions I don’t think it’s the book for compete watercolor newbies like myself but would make a great gift for those individuals who already have basic working water color knowledge.

The artwork is beautiful. The step by step instructions seem very concise. I received by copy on NetGalley but I love that the real version includes a pad of watercolor paper.

I’ve always been enchanted by watercoloring and longed to learn how to do so. This book was by far the best guide I’ve read for learning about the watercolor process, tools, and techniques! I’m excited to get started on my own floral journey!

The section on butterfly and flower anatomy provides a helpful foundation. The supplies are not overwhelming and the color recipes are clear. Some of the flowers are more complicated with as many as 15 steps. I think this book may be a bit intimidating for a total beginner. It is laid out nicely, has clear instructions, and builds up to a lovely bouquet of flowers and butterflies at the end. As a beginner to watercolor, I was excited to dive into Beautiful Butterflies and Flowers by Chithra Shaan, and it did not disappoint! This beautifully designed guide offers step-by-step instructions that make watercolor painting both accessible and enjoyable. Although I was reading the digital version, which meant I couldn’t follow along with the specific supplies from the print version, I’m eager to get started in my own sketchbook and try out the techniques.

Chithra Shaan provides an excellent introduction to color theory and watercolor techniques, breaking down each step in a way that's easy to understand. The instructions for painting butterflies and flowers are especially helpful—Shaan's style is both detailed and inspiring, making it possible for beginners like me to replicate these lovely designs.

I can already tell that this book will be an invaluable resource as I continue to explore the world of watercolor. If you're new to the medium and interested in painting natural subjects, this book is a fantastic guide to help you develop your skills and boost your confidence. I can't wait to experiment with these techniques and bring some of these beautiful butterflies and flowers to life on my pages!

I have always thought that painting instructions should be accompanied by videos, and so I was really impressed that this book actually has QR codes you can scan to access videos! That’s the way to go! Just this alone earns a huge 5 stars from me, especially since the one video that I could access is clear and well-done. The projects are beautiful too, with detailed step-by-step instructions and illustrations!

What’s more, it seems watercolor pads with sketches all ready are provided. What! That’s a great idea! Since I only have digital access, I couldn’t view these pads or feel their quality.

But, definitely a great one for anyone wanting to paint flowers and butterflies. Well-done and bravo to the publishers and author.

Beautiful Butterflies and Flowers begins with some instruction on using your watercolour paints and mark making with them then moves on to tutorials for the butterflies and flowers that are outlined in the book.
The paintings are beautiful and the tutorials have steps to show you how to go about achieving the same results as Chithra. As I was reviewing an ebook I did not have the outlines that are contained in the physical book and cannot comment on how easy it would be to obtain a beautiful end result but the book is certainly lovely and I would be very tempted to add it to my library of art books.

Through clear direction and beautiful photos, I'm now well on my way to painting beautiful butterflies and flowers.

A wonderful book which gives step by step instructions on
painting butterflies and flowers in watercolors. The instructions are very detailed and easy to follow. It’s really quite good for beginners and anyone who doesn’t have a background in painting or art. The watercolor techniques are great, and one can quickly learn to paint gorgeous butterflies and beautiful blooms like a pro. I would recommend it for anyone interested in making watercolor paintings.

“Beautiful Butterflies and Flowers” really does contain some beautiful images.

There are explanations of useful techniques, such as colour blending, as well as diagrams explaining the anatomy of both butterflies and flowers, which would help people keen to draw their own accurate images.

The instructions for the paintings include lists of which colours and brushes are required for each one, followed by step by step instructions for the actual painting. I think this would allow even beginners to create some lovely paintings.

As I read the ebook version, I wasn’t able to join in and paint directly on the watercolour paper, which sounds ideal and would definitely encourage me to buy a physical copy.

This has some beautiful art work. I went in thinking some of the butterflies and flowers would be more beginner friendly but it seems geared to a bit more intermediate/advanced artists.

This is a beautiful how-to book with stunning watercolor paintings of flowers and butterflies. The step by step instructions are for the painting part and not for the drawings, which are actually quite detailed and not necessarily for a beginner. I had hoped there would be instructions or templates for them. I also wish there were tutorials for real butterflies. There are real flowers depicted like cosmos and peonies but the butterflies are all fantasy. Still a lovely book.

Beautiful Butterflies and Flowers : 20 Step-by-Step No-Sketch Projects on Watercolor Paper. This is a lovely art tutorial book. Fanciful rather than realistic. The step by step instructions are easy to follow for someone who has done a bit of art before, but probably not detailed enough for a complete beginner. A beautiful happy book, full of colour and joy. This would make a lovely gift book.

This was a sweet look at ways to paint within a template. This is a great beginners guide as it review techniques and supplies and a little theory without bigging you down. Since I read this on kindle, I can not attest to the water color paper used in book, but I love the idea of idea of getting right into the painting process.

There is supposedly not much to say here other than the instructions are easy to follow and the featured artworks are lovely and adorable. But one can also easily feel the love with which they were collected and brought together.

Such a beautiful introduction to painting flowers and butterflies with watercolor. This is a beginner-friendly guidebook with the inclusion of watercolor pad and templates, so there is no need to trace or sketch in order to create beautiful artwork.

Importantly it offers the necessary basics at the beginning of the book, including various watercolor painting techniques, color theory and layering. The step-by-step tutorials are laid-out well and easy-to-follow. I appreciate the addition to video tutorials (linked via QR codes) to provide additional guidance, as necessary.

This book would make a fantastic gift for anyone who is interested in developing their watercolor painting skills.

Although this was quite beautiful and had a lot of illustrations, I don't think it was definitive enough for a beginner. The book seems to assume a knowledge of drawing, Although the title says "no-sketch", the step by step to take you into the painting did not feel adequate to me, The paint steps were to show the different colors that would be layered on to create the final product. The color palette charts and recipes were helpful in showing you how to mix the proper colors.
