Don’t Look Back by Christine Caine is an uplifting and powerful reminder to keep moving forward in faith. Using the story of Lot’s wife as a central theme, Christine weaves biblical truths with personal stories, encouraging readers to trust God even when the future feels uncertain.

Her words are both practical and inspiring, offering guidance on how to release what’s holding you back and embrace what’s ahead. This book is perfect for anyone navigating anxiety, doubt, or simply looking for a spiritual refresh.

Highly recommend for those seeking encouragement in their faith journey.

*I received a free digital copy of Don't Look Back by Christine Caine in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

When I saw the title of this book, I wanted to read it. I am not big on thinking about the past. I allow myself a flashback Friday of one of my kitties that has passed, but other than that, I don't look back.  I get mad at my husband when he does and I feel that is what makes him depressed.

The author also believes looking back is not a good idea. She refers to The Bible and how Lot was told not to look back, but did and his wife was turned into a pillar of salt. I had never made that connection before, but God is telling us not to look back.

The author gives stories from her own life and those of others to help us stop looking back. I highly recommend this book to anyone, especially those that tend to live in the past. We can't change the past and have little control of the future so we might as well just live in the now.

I couldn’t get into this one for some reason. I feel like her books are all the same, but this was seemed unorganized and kind of all over the place. I couldn’t finish it. I may try listening to it some day if I can find it at the library.

Highly recommend!!
I know that when I read or listen to Christine Caine, I will be motivated to charge through this difficult life and boldly live out my purpose- and Never Look Back was no exception! Christine uses the example of Lot’s wife as a cautionary reminder to continue to look forward to where God is leading us and to let go/release the past. I particularly resonated with a section of the book where Christine encourages us to examine areas of our lives to identify where we may be “slouching” - it was a very helpful exercise and good reminder! I was also greatly encouraged by Christine’s reminders about all we have to look forward to in Eternity. It helps me persevere though the challenges in this life and want to persevere and to finish my “race” strong. I strongly recommend this book!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy of this book!

Netgalley and Nelson Books provided me with a copy of Don't Look Back for review:

The decision to move on is not a one-time event. It's a way of life.

Sometimes in life, we wish time would stand still, particularly when we are blindsided by unexpected changes. We cannot stop the flow of life, and we cannot stop time. Moreover, looking back doesn't allow us to go back. Most of the time, it just keeps us stuck. In a place. In a space. In a memory. In a mindset. In a habit.

Jesus says three little words in Luke 17:32: "Remember Lot's wife." We don't know her name, her history, or her story. During her flight from Sodom and Gomorrah, she was told not to look back, and she did the one thing she was told not to do. As she looked back, she turned into a pillar of salt. She is the only woman Jesus tells us to remember out of the 170 mentioned in the Scriptures.

Bible teacher, international speaker, activist, and bestselling author Christine Caine invites us to stop looking back, to get unstuck, and to keep moving forward into God's promises and purposes.

There may be things God has planned for us that we don't know. We may not know where we are going, how long it will take us, or what we will encounter along the way, but with the strategies Christine Caine gives, we can move on from where we are to where God wants us to be.It's difficult to know where we're going, how long it'll take, or what obstacles we'll encounter along the way, but with the strategies Christine Caine provides, we can move from where we are to where God wants us to be.

I give Don't Look Back five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Christine Caine's Don't Look Back takes a deeper look into Jesus' words found in Luke 17: "Remember Lot's wife." (which, by the way, is the second shortest verse in the Bible, as she points out). The book is divided into three main parts, which on the surface appears relatively simplistic and obvious, but within offer some great insights:

1. Why Moving Forward Is Important
2. Strategies for Moving Forward
3. The Rewards of Moving Forward

Mixed with personal stories, biblical narratives, and insightful application, Caine encourages readers to be cautious of being stuck by looking in the rearview mirror and longing to be where we are not supposed to be. She walks through various things that can often keep us stuck in the past, and how we can practically move forward in the calling of God. In fact, each chapter concludes with some actionable points, which I appreciated. I think this is where the real fruit of the book can be produced is by doing the work advised to live out what Caine is explaining.

If you feel like you are stuck in life, whether that be by shame or guilt or fear or a vast array of other things, or if you feel like the "good ol' days" are behind you and you long to return back to them, this would be an excellent read for you. Personally, I did feel the book was a bit protracted, and I would have preferred even more commentary on some of the biblical narratives over the personal anecdotes, but readers will likely be encouraged and inspired by this book nonetheless.

A deeply encouraging book. It has reminded me of continuing to look to God as He directs my path. As well as encouraging me to take the things I've learnt and say 'never again' to abuse and coercion to choose to move forward in God daily.
