I read this first book in this series and quite enjoyed it so was looking forward to the sequel, but felt this didn't really hit the mark for me. While the story was nice enough and the setting well described, the way the author described the characters feelings felt very 'Mills and Boon' in my opinion. It just fell flat and and so I didn't particularly engage. Just ok, there are better in the genre.

I really enjoyed this book, lovely story of chance and change. Lovely characters who made it all seem real and I found myself imagining the country side and what the house looked like. I always enjoy books with a french setting as it always makes me feel like I would like to have moved there.
My thanks as always to Netgalley and Publisher Boldwood Books for the opportunity for the early read.

From Provence, With Love is the second book in Alison Roberts' One Year in France series. I have already read the first novel in this series, Falling for Provence. and found it a nice romantic break from the mysteries that I seem to read most often. I was a bit confused when I began to read, since it seemed to begin the same way s book 1 in this series. I finally realized that this second book was going to focus on a different sister, Laura. Book 1 focused on Ellie. There are 3 sisters and so I hope there will be another book in this series.

I like the sisters and the other characters. They are all quite likable and enjoyable. In Laura's story in Provence, she has a weekend fling with a man, who would be tough to resist, Back in Scotland, Laura discovers she is pregnant. This is not a spoiler, since readers learn about the pregnancy at the beginning of the book. Both Laura and her baby daddy are real estate agents. The complication is that the baby daddy, Noah, is not interested in fatherhood or marriage. But this is a romance, and so not exactly many surprises. But getting to the end was a delightful journey. The scenery is lovely, as is Robert's description of the south of France. It made me want to board a plane and return to a place I just visited last summer.

I do recommend From Provence, With Love. It was an enjoyable read. Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review. I did enjoy this novel and wish I hadn't finished it.

There was something about how explicitly the main characters’s feelings were spelled out for the reader that made this romance pretty unromantic. The writing felt lackluster, and some of the dialogues with insignificant characters were just not needed in this story.

The first half of this book was amusing enough to read. In the second half though, some of the male lead’s thoughts and decisions were infuriating to me personally. I get that it may have been for the sake of intensifying the conflict, so to each their own. I did find the final chapters to be completely absurd though.

Overall, this reads like an unnecessarily dramatized story.

I felt the novel fell flat. I feel like the author was in the right direction and then held back. However I am someone that loves a lot of spice so I understand. I loved all of the characters though!

From Provence, With Love by Alison Roberts is a heartwarming romance that blends spontaneity, passion, and the charm of the South of France. Laura Gilchrist, a woman who’s always played it safe, finds herself swept off her feet by Noah Dufour, a free-spirited real estate agent, during a trip to sell an inherited property. What starts as a whirlwind fling quickly turns into something more when Laura discovers she’s pregnant. The novel captures the emotional journey of two people navigating unexpected consequences and deciding whether their brief yet intense connection can lead to something lasting. Roberts crafts a story full of romance, self-discovery, and the hope that sometimes, taking risks is the key to finding true love. A perfect read for fans of heartfelt, romantic escapism.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC.

This is book 2 in the One Year in France series. The three Gilchrist sisters Ellie, Laura and Fiona have inherited an old stone house in Provence called La Maisonette from an uncle they never knew, due to their alcoholic father leaving them when they were young. In Falling for Provence, Ellie and Laura travelled to Provence to take a look and start selling the house as neither wanted to live in it. However, something compelled Ellie to stay for the summer and renovate the building for a better sale. Soon she met her grumpy neighbour Julien and his adorable little son Theo.

From Provence with Love is Laura's story and it starts simultaneously to the first book which first confused me because it repeated quite a few things. Ellie is still heavily involved, and we celebrate her wedding to Julien, who has also bought La Maisonette at the end of book 1 / middle of book 2. The fact that she had a child that died at six months old is also still a topic for Laura, who struggles with it in her whirlwind affair with estate agent Noah Dufour.

Ah, Noah, oh la la. He starts out as one of those typical men who relentlessly stalk a woman they like the look of, call her ma chérie and just generally display red flags before they drop their conquests again. We later learn that his beloved sister Elise died from cancer at seven years old, which makes him damaged and not wanting a family, so when Laura discovers she is pregnant, he does not react nicely. This did not endear him to me, pas de tout.

This is a love story that starts out as a holiday romance but never convinced me. It's wishful thinking that we can convert committment phobes into doting family men just by getting pregnant, so I have deducted points for nonsense. I wanted to scream at Laura to at least have her baby in France because with that and a French father it would have a right to a French and therefore EU-wide passport. Did she think about that? You'll have to read it to find out.

Provence with its lavender fields and sunflowers plus the mouth-watering food is described wonderfully, making you want to live there too - if there wasn't that tiny thing called Brexit that romance writers routinely ignore, n'est-ce pas? I found the first book charming but this wasn't for me. It's all about the healing power of love, so if that appeals to you, this might be for you. But if you didn't like me sprinkling my review with French words, you won't like it in the book either.

It was nice going back to the south of France and seeing Laura Gilchrist, Ellie's sister. Ellie, Laura and Fiona have inherited an old stone house in Provence called La Maisonette from an uncle they didn't know.
Laura went back to the south of France to help an estate agent, Noah Dufour, sell the stone house. She came back one way, but as she was there, she started changing. She was always in control of everything, and had a difficult time accepting the person she was becoming. The story will take us through Laura's journey of basically being two people and seeing which person wins out. As Noah said to her, don't stop listening to your heart, and let the Laura back out that you buried. I enjoyed reading this story about all that she went through, and all that she had buried come to the surface, You will have to read the book to find out what happens. This is book 2, and her sister Ellie is in the story a lot and also the donkeys.
I received an ARC from Boldwood Books through Net Galley.

Laura is an estate agent who is totally in control of her life, until she visits Provence with her sister, to sell the house that was left to them by their uncle. There she meets the devastatingly handsome Noah Dufour, and her life will never be the same again.

This is a charming novel, set mostly in the winningly beautiful Provence area of France. The will they, won't they tension is maintained throughout the book and I enjoyed reading it. The characters were interesting and I cared about all of them, even the ones on the periphery of the main story. An easy read, perfect for relaxing with a cup of tea under a cozy blanket at this time of year.

From Provence with Love is a charming and emotionally resonant romance set in the picturesque south of France. Laura and Noah, both at the top of their game as real estate agents, are polar opposites in personality. Laura is controlled and cautious, while Noah is a carefree biker who lives in the moment. Their undeniable chemistry leads to a compelling story filled with heartfelt moments and self-discovery.

Their journey starts with a playful meet-cute and unfolds into something deeper as a surprise pregnancy forces them to confront their fears, past traumas, and hidden truths. What sets this book apart is how it doesn’t just explore romantic love but also delves into personal growth and emotional healing.

As someone living in the south of France, I can vouch for the authenticity of the setting. The lavender fields, medieval villages, and cozy restaurants are described so vividly they feel like stepping into a postcard. The environment becomes a character in its own right, perfectly complementing the characters’ growth and the magic of their journey.

While the story shines with its heartfelt moments and believable setting, it occasionally feels slightly predictable, which is why I’ve rated it 4 stars instead of 5. Still, Laura’s transformation and the realistic emotional depth of her and Noah’s relationship make it a thoroughly enjoyable read.

For readers who love slow-burn romance with beautiful backdrops, deep emotional arcs, and light on-the-page spice, From Provence with Love is a delightful escape. It’s a story that reminds us of the beauty of second chances and the healing power of love.

I received a free copy of, From Provence, With Love, by Alison Roberts, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Laura Gilchrist went to France to sell an inherited house, not to fall in love and become pregnant, but things happen. I enjoyed this read, going to France and England. Enjoyable characters and story.

Laura and Noah's love story was set in a captivating background. It was poignant and fraught with challenges, but it all works out in the end. The first and last chapters were so dramatic.

Overall, the book was written well, and the descriptions want me to go to Florence now.

L'émerveillement – the only word I can use to describe this book.
From Provence with Love is the first book I have read by Alison Roberts, but it certainly won’t be the last. It has been a little while since I have read a book that has so viscerally touched the deepest, most hidden parts of me 🤎

Book rating: 5/5 ⭐
Tropes: Reverse grumpy x sunshine, surprise pregnancy, forced proximity, meet-cute
Spice: non-descriptive, bordering on closed door romance.

From Provence with Love follows Laura and Noah, both real-estate agents at the top of their game, but with completely different approaches to life. While Laura is controlled, safe and restrained, Noah is the biker who is wild and charming to boot, with the motto of living in the moment.
From their first meet, they have an undeniable attraction towards one another. One could put it down to the magic and beauty of France, but through their journey, we see deeper into the characters' individual pain, their lives, and how it has closed them off to feeling anything deeper for anybody than a passing fancy. However, fate has different plans for the two, and a surprise pregnancy forces them to face their demons, and admit truths both to themselves and to each other.

As I travailed with the characters through Lavender fields, picturesque medieval villages, and breathtaking restaurants, I found myself falling in love with not only the characters, this author, and France, but also… with life. Laura’s personality and pain, in many ways mimic my own, and to see her come into her own, listen to the voice that truly matters, and find herself after years of restraining her joy, released a contented sigh from the weariest parts of my soul.

Being acclimated to fast-paced, instant physical intimacy, dark romance books, I found myself initially struggling to get through the first 20 percent of the book despite it’s INCREDIBLE first chapter. However, once I passed my own personal slump I was able to fully immerse and escape into this world. This book is one that forces you to slow down. To relish each word. TO savour each moment. To admire each setting. To dive into the magic and fantasy of a love in a foreign land that was always meant to be. And while this book has all the elements of a contemporary romance novel (the meet-cute, reverse grumpy x sunshine, etc.,) the author’s elegant and classical prose sets it apart. It is clear that the author is in love with France and describes the smallest details with great love and care.

And reflected in that, is the way that life is meant to be lived. To relish and savour each moment, to notice the small details and find happiness in the state of just being in a beautiful place, surrounded by the one thing that has the ability to heal, strengthen, and sustain all life’s difficulties - Love.

Thank you to NETGALLEY and to Alison Roberts and her team, for generously providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

A cute, easy romance book which transports you to beautiful area of Provence. Having visiting these areas in France, I could really picture the house that Laura inherits and the surrounding area. I liked how the book gave the pov of both Laura and Noah, made the story more interesting to read from two perspectives.
I found the book a bit slow at times and didn’t love the writing style, it felt very plain & simple and wasn’t very descriptive. Would make a good holiday read.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book, all opinions expressed are my own.
