I felt this story was rather dull and typical. I was hoping to feel a spark between the characters and really get into their characters but this fell short for me.

Holiday at Magnolia Bay was a fun and straight-forward romance. Most of it actually occurs prior to the Holiday Season so don’t read too much into the title unless Holiday is being used in place of Vacation. It’s a novella so it’s a rather quick read.

The story is about Navy Seal Lieutenant Commander Andrew “Drew” Lanham and Marine Biologist Jenna Huntley. Drew is staying at his godmother Aunt Evie’s house in Magnolia Bay while decompressing from a mission that claimed the life of a comrade. Jenna works at the Turtle Rescue Center in Magnolia Bay. Their initial encounter is less than ideal but things get even worse for Jenna when she finds out that Drew is the godson of one of her closest friends. To add insult to injury, she also gets the feeling that he may end up having an impact on her future business plans. Regardless, Jenna and Drew are drawn together so they end up having a no-strings attached relationship that eventually changes their future.

This novella was full of a lot of funny situations. There were also some serious situations that touch on loss and PTSD. I felt like some issues deserved a little more exploration but I suppose that’s the consequence of such a short story. I was thoroughly entertained and hope that the rest of the series is as much fun.
