Madison and the New Neighbors is the story of Madison who has sweets to sell for her school. She goes round all her neighbors' houses, but refuses to go to Mrs Patel's house. Seema, a new girl at her school from India, lives there and Madison thinks she's strange.
This was a nice story about not judging people who are different from you and who have different cultures and traditions from you. The tolerance message will appeal to primary-aged children and the story is short enough to be engaging. I was not that impressed by the author's instructions at the end of the story on how to raise moral children though - that part felt quite judgmental and unnecessary to me.
A nice story for children, but didn't appreciate the author's lecturing for parents reading the text. 3 stars.
