Daughter of the Regiment is the second book that I have read by this author. The premise was interesting and offered a glimpse into the Civil War and parts of history that I had been unfamiliar with. I liked the main characters and the interactions between them. I did feel that Walker Blair was perhaps a little too stereotyped. The author did attempt to give us a different idea of him toward the end of the novel, but I think it felt a little heavy handed to me. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to reading more by this author,

I enjoyed Daughter of the Regiment I loved how Maggie loved her brothers enough to follow them into battle. I also learned a little bit of history with this novel. I knew that the majority of the Irish American fought for the north. What I didn't know was that the Union army had whole brigades of Irish American fighters. I enjoyed reading this novel and look forward to finding nonfiction books on Irish brigades to learn more.
