Disclosure: Thank you, @netgalley and @bookouture, for the opportunity to read and review this book.
As a wife and a mother, the Never Come Back book sucked me in right away. It was an entertaining book from start to finish. Some sections had a good bit of repetition, but it did not distract from reading enjoyment.
I was eager to find out the outcome of this story. I wanted to know if they were all reunited or not. If I had the time, I would have devoured this book more quickly. As it stood, I read it on my phone and my iPad every chance. I forgot all about having the ability to switch it to being read to me as I did other things. (I’m going to have to use that feature more!)
You will enjoy Never Come Back if you like thrillers and family-drama stories.

This was an exciting book. So much so that I had the NetGalley app read me the ebook when I had to put my kindle down to do other things yesterday. I read the whole thing in one afternoon.
There was a lot of surprises in this book. Rowan seems very dependent on her husband, like she’s not whole when he’s away. Wyatt has a lot of secrets he keeps from his wife, and she surprisingly has some of her own too. Wyatt’s biggest secret follows him home from his last business trip, and it puts his family at risk. Wyatt and Rowan are both willing to do anything to save their son.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC of this book.

This is a unique and unusual storylinE that drew me in from the start. Lots of drama and a book well worth reading
Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC

What an incredible dark and twisted, albeit addictive, story from Cara Reinard!
Rowan and Wyatt are married, unhappily, with a 4 year old son, Landon, and another baby on the way. Rowan wants Wyatt to spend more time at home whilst Wyatt enjoys the challenge a new job brings therefore changes jobs regularly. Wyatt often has to travel for his work where he is involved in start-up tech companies, he moves from job to job as he loves the start-up process but gets bored by the time the launch occurs. This latest trip for him is to New Mexico and Rowan gets anxious every time he leaves. However, on the first night of his work trip an incident occurs to Wyatt which Rowan is informed of by his company, the details are vague, and she is worried sick being unable to contact him for a few days. The relief she gets when he finally gets in touch with her is short lived; he tells her he was mugged but when he returns home to Rowan and Landon, he is a different man to the one who left days earlier. Wyatt has his secrets but then so does Rowan. Then both their worlds tilt when on a day trip out with Rowan, Landon goes missing, and their worst fears are confirmed when CCTV footage shows someone actively luring Landon away and kidnapping him. Whose secrets have caught up with them, Rowan or Wyatts?! Or is there something darker at play?
Crikey, as I said above, this was one dark story but extremely addictive. I was constantly saying to myself, “just one more page” or “just one more chapter”. I have to admit I didn’t really like the characters of Rowan or Wyatt, but this didn’t ruin the enjoyment of the story at all. The beginning was a little slow while setting the scene but intriguing all the same and by about 30% in I was addicted to see what would happen next. I definitely did not see the dark direction the story headed and even though I know this book is fictional I did find it interesting to learn more about the dark subject matter in question (sorry this is a little mysterious but this is a no spoiler review so I can’t give too much away without there being a spoiler). I thought the twist in chapter 37 was brilliant and I didn’t see it coming however I did guess the one further on but again, this didn’t ruin the story for me, and I was more excited that I had figured that one out when the first one really blindsided me.
This was my second book by Cara Reinard, and it was just as good as the pervious one I read written by her (The Clinic). I would definitely recommend this one for any psychological thriller fans and I look forward to seeing what Cara Reinard writes next. A well deserved 4 star rating.
Thank you to NetGalley, Cara Reinard and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.

Never Come Back by Cara Reinard is a complex thriller that will keep you engaged from the start. What starts out as a business trip to Mexico City to roll out new software and set up a center, turns into a nightmare for Wyatt. After having a drink at a rooftop bar with a beautiful woman named Esme, Wyatt wakes up in a bathtub with a nasty incision in his stomach. The doctor explains that his kidney has been removed, and while crimes like this are rare they do happen and they rarely get reported. Knowing his wife Rowan would be furious and divorce him, Wyatt chooses only to tell Rowan that he was attacked and mugged. When Wyatt returns home he is hiding both his emotional scars and his physical one, choosing to keep Rowan in the dark about his ordeal. But what happens when their young son Landon is taken from the museum while with Rowan? Who has taken him and why? Soon they realize that this was all a carefully thought out plan and everyone is keeping secrets.
This was a wild ride! A very interesting and original plot, well thought out characters (even if some were not very likable) and plenty of tension really made this book engaging. The suspense and the depths of the secrets are brilliant. Just when I thought I had one part figured out another twist was thrown at me. Definitely going to check out more by Cara Reinard!
Thank you to NetGalley, Cara Reinard, and Bookouture for this ARC. Expected release date is February 11th 2025.

I didn’t see much of the plot unfolding the way it did and the extensive outreach it had.
There are some grisly trafficking that goes on and it makes me want to never travel again.
Rowan was a lot of things but none of it made her a good person. She had anger issues and control issues and if I were Wyatt I wouldn’t have come back.
This book packs a punch for suspense and lots of people lying!!

I received an ARC copy of this book, and this is my honest, unbiased opinion. I found the plot unique and original. Delving into family history and drama made this feel new and refreshing compared to other books in the genre, which often feel very formulaic. However, I felt a little disappointed and underwhelmed because, despite such a unique approach, I wished I could connect with the characters. I found the twists and ending to be unpredictable and unexpected. But all in all, this was a good book. 4 stars.

Wow!! It’s only February, but I’m certain this one will be a contender for my favorite of the year. “Never Come Back” kicks off with a normal business trip and rapidly morphs into an action-packed story with incredibly high stakes. Alternating between the perspectives of a husband and wife who each have their own secrets, this story goes places you’ll never see coming! This book will hit hard with fans of Minka Kent & Jeneva Rose!
I’m was already a fan of this author and “Sweet Water” is one of my go-to recommendations so I had very high expectations going into this one and the story had no trouble living up them. 10/10, an absolute must add to your #tbr

My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Never Come Back’ written by Cara Reinard in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Wyatt’s employer sends him to Mexico City on business and books him into a hotel. When he arrives he has a drink in the bar with an attractive woman calling herself Esme who offers to show him the sights from her hotel room, then he loses consciousness until he awakes in an ice-filled bath in severe pain with a cut to his stomach. He tells his pregnant wife Rowan he was mugged so how can he explain to her what really happened? Then his four-year-old son Landon disappears while on a trip to the Independence Visitor Centre with Rowan.
‘Never Come Back’ is a fast-paced thriller of secrets, lies and criminality. The story is chilling and a bit far-fetched at times but the excitement, suspense and twists and turns more than make up for it. I didn’t like the characters of Wyatt who was subservient to Rowan who controlled everything he said and did, and their son Landon who was so badly behaved I wanted to reprimand him. The plot got so chilling that I couldn’t stop reading until I’d reached the end.

This was such a thrilling read, right away I was immersed in all the lies and deceit underneath the surface, fast paced and intense all the way through.

Never Come Back is the third book of Cara's I've read and I think they get better with each book. I think I shared the story that last year I went to New York to attend Thrillerfest and on the plane I was reading Caras book The Wife At The Window. I was telling my bestie about it and she informed me that Cara was actually at the event! Sadly our paths never crossed but my bestie got a note for me from Cara and I was thrilled when it arrived. I really enjoy the drama and suspense in all of Cara's books but this book took it up a notch. The drama was elevated, the suspense off the chart at times, and the subject matter was different. I definitely recommend this book and all of Cara's books as well.
When Rowan gets a call from her husbands work that there has been an accident and Wyatt is unable to contact her she is out of her mind with worry. Wyatt is out of the country and she is pregnant and home with her young son so she can't go to him. Days go by with no contact and then he shows up looking terrible and carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Wyatt can't tell Rowan what he's been through because then he'd have to tell her about the woman at the bar. He will need to hide his scars both emotionally and physically because they have bigger problems, someone has taking their little boy. Police are doing everything they can to locate him but the less they find the ore they realize this investigation is bigger than they thought. Rowan and Wyatt are in a dark place because the lies Wyatt has told are now seeping into his son's disappearance. If there is every a chance for forgiveness and for them to be a family again Wyatt will need to do everything he can to find out who took his son and get him back safely. Oh but Wyatt isn't the only one keeping secrets.....

Thank you so much to @bookoture and @netgalley for the copy of this eARC!
Rowan and Wyatt seem like the perfect couple, but when Wyatt goes MIA during a business trip, Rowan's world begins to unravel. As Wyatt returns with an explanation for his disappearance, the truth slowly starts to surface, and their lives are shattered. The lies Wyatt has told are now connected to the disappearance of their son, and the surprises keep piling up. But Wyatt isn’t the only one with secrets…
This book was absolutely unputdownable, with twists and turns at every corner. The plot is packed with secrets, lies, and unexpected surprises that kept me on the edge of my seat. Told from both Wyatt and Rowan’s perspectives, I never saw the direction the story took coming, and the ending completely caught me off guard.
I really admired Rowan—she’s a fierce, determined mother who will stop at nothing to find her son, even learning about the dark web to track down the person responsible. I won’t spoil any more, but trust me, this story is filled with unique, captivating moments that will stick with you long after the final page.
This isn’t my first book by Cara Reinard, and I’m a huge fan of her work. Her writing continues to impress, and this crime thriller was everything I hoped for. I can’t wait for her next book!

Well you have to go into this with your eyes wide open because it’s based on the old story of a man, Wyatt, waking up in Mexico and missing a kidney and having no recollection of how he got there.
His wife, Rowan, is missing him, but when she finally hears from him and he tells her he was mugged and his phone was stolen but he was headed back home to his family finally and she isn’t sure about his story because he’s acted strangely and his story doesn’t explain the scar he has.
Not long after he comes back, their son Landon, gets kidnapped right out from under Rowan’s nose. Rowan has to figure out what her husband is really hiding in order to get her son back.
The plot was fast paced and entertaining and there are few twists to keep you on your toes.
What lengths will you go to to protect your family?
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.

Cara Reinard’s Never Come Back offers a wild ride of suspense, secrets, and twists that kept me turning the pages, even when the story ventured into the implausible.
This thriller centres on Rowan, whose husband Wyatt vanishes during a business trip to Mexico, leaving her angry, scared, and ultimately questioning everything when he finally returns. Wyatt comes home a changed man, hiding a mysterious scar and acting distant. The situation escalates when their young son Landon is abducted, plunging Rowan into a nightmare of buried secrets and shocking revelations.
Told through alternating perspectives of Wyatt and Rowan, the book weaves a layered plot that’s fast-paced and undeniably unique. While the story’s concept was intriguing, parts of it felt over the top, and some twists were too outlandish to fully buy into. At times, the abundance of characters and unnecessary details distracted from the central plot, leaving me wanting more focus and clarity. I also struggled to connect with the main characters, which lessened the emotional impact of the story.
That said, there were moments of genuine suspense and unexpected surprises that I appreciated. While Never Come Back may not deliver a traditional thriller or mystery, it offers plenty of action and drama with an unpredictable edge. If you’re in the mood for a fast-paced, slightly out-there read, this one is worth picking up.

Never come back was my first read from this author and wow I love it. It was such a mysterious read which had me gripped from start to finish. I love how well it written the character development was great and wow the suspense from start to finish was amazing definitely had me on edge of my seat. It was such a unique story which I love as I definitely can never guess the twists and there were plenty of them. Overall I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to recommend it to everyone. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this great book I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Definitely a different kind of thriller for me. And it's always nice to have a original switch up.
Rowan is left worried when her partner beocme unreachable on a work trip. She can't get in touch. Then wyatt arrives home, seemingly full of explanations that just gone add up. Rowans gut is very much on alert.
More sequence of events happens. And more people are put in peril as.the secrets unfold.
It's very much tells the tale of.what we'd do for those we love. And also what happens to love when trust is broken and how paranoid and unsafe that can make us.

A storyline which was so unrealistic.
A huge cast of characters.
I totally struggled with this book.
Sorry for the negative review but this was just not for me.

This is a fast paced read, diving into characters and a windy storyline. It begins with a husband (Wyatt) who leaves town on a work trip and mysteriously goes missing. His pregnant wife (Rowan) is left at home with their young son filled with worry, no way to contact him and a strange alert from his employer. When Wyatt returns home he has a secret he cannot let his wife know and unknowingly puts his family danger. The story captures lengths a parent will go to for their child while showing how quickly a couples love can unravel.
I had a hard time connecting with Rowan who was snotty, selfish and demanding. Wyatt is easy to feel sorry for while also easy to blame for his stupid steps and mistakes. I almost got enough of the doctor's family storyline but could have known more.
I enjoyed the story line, the drama of the characters and surprise thriller twists.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc. This was suspenseful and a different plot than normal, good book!

Never Come Back, a dark and deeply twisted psychological thriller is Cara Reinard's next thriller.
The story centers around the Bishop family, Wyatt, Rowan, and their young son, Logan. When Wyatt is attacked on a business trip and goes missing for over a week, a pregnant Rowan tries to hold it together and frantically searches for him. Finally, she gets word from him that he was attacked but is now on his way home. Thinking the worst is behind them, she breathes a sigh of relief. That relief is short-lived, however, when Logan is abducted. Rowan will stop at nothing to track Logan down, even going to the seedy dark web. But how far is too far to go for those you love?
The storyline is unique and draws you in immediately. While the characters seem a bit rough, it becomes clear why as you get further into their story. It alternates between the perspectives of Rowan and Wyatt. The chapters are short and easy to fly through. The twists, lies, and jaw-dropping surprises will leave you wishing for more but also leave you needing to see the outcome of this story. This is a highly recommended read for anyone looking for a thriller with a unique storyline.
