This was such a fun read with 2 (visually appealing and) interesting main characters. The main premise revolves around 2 teenagers really loved by classmates, generally seen as role models but hide a more delinquent side to themselves. When they reveal these hidden sides to themselves, (minor) shenanigans ensue🤭. I love the dynamics between the 2 leads, especially the female lead who gets easily flustered by the male lead's antics. If you tell me what I think, I'd tell you that it's good & has a wonderful foundation for a love story. If I tell you what I really think, it's about being true to yourself with someone that truly gets you, not everyone needs to see the 'true' you in a sense. Not everyone can handle that & that's fine, you can't be for everyone.

This is a cute, sweet beginning to this series. I am excited to read more and see their relationship develop.

Fall in Love, You False Angels is Coco Uzuki's first official serialization. It is a shoujo manga series told from the perspective of Otogi Katsura, first-year class president of her high school. She is the resident heartthrob, and embraces the title wholeheartedly. However, she has a secret--she is not really the demure, graceful persona that she cultivates as a public façade; instead, she is blunt and brash. This secret side of her is accidentally discovered by the first-year class vice president, Toki Ninomae, who has a secret of his own--he's not Mr. Perfect, either. But will Katsura's feelings for him ever be realized?

It's hard to rate a manga series by just the first volume, but here are my impressions thus far: this series is a 5/5 for readers who like shoujo-style art; the character designs are also quite fun (especially Toki's undercut.) However, I found the overall message a bit lackluster, and perhaps more fitting for upper tween/younger teen readers--yes, everyone is multi-faceted, this is not an earth-shattering fact--and the characters' true personalities didn't seem like something that needs to be kept secret. Their relationship is fun, but there were several moments where I felt the characters were making much ado about nothing. (As an aside, I did feel that Toki had equal amounts of chemistry with both Otogi and Gen-nii, but maybe that's just me.) Props to calling out the pervy teacher though!

Readers who enjoy this series may also like: Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori, The Apothecary Diaries by Natsu Hyūga, Not So Shoujo Love Story by Curryuku, and Our Walk Home by furanc0, among the many other YA school rom-com titles.

A very cute manga where two beautiful ethereal-esque students strike a deal to keep their true selves hidden from everyone else.

Fall in Love, You False Angels is a fast-paced read centering Otogi x Toki who have a quiet and beautiful disposition at school, but secretly have a tough exterior that is severely underestimated. I really liked to see the progression of Otogi's x Toki's relationship; little by little they find more time to spend with one another. The scene with Toki's big brother was really sweet and showed a different side of him to Otogi. I also really liked how Otogi's heart is pictured throughout the manga, how we can see and FEEL how Toki affects her.

It's a pretty solid manga with an ending promising more!

Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for this arc!

4/5 stars

This took me almost half the manga to actually get into the story, but once I did I began to enjoy it! I think I'll try the next volume to see if I end up liking it more, or I may not continue with the series as I don't really feel too invested in their romance as of yet. The art is really beautiful. It would be nice too maybe add more secondary characters to fill out the story more.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the eARC!

This manga was a nice package. I went in expecting a typical and cliches high school romance setup, but the duality theme—the way Otogi and Toki present different versions of themselves in and out of school—added an interesting layer. I love characters who have to juggle masks, and that element was handled well enough to keep me invested. Otogi’s perspective really drives the story, though I’m hoping future volumes will give us more of Toki’s side of things. He’s just as intriguing and deserves the spotlight too.

Though the story can feel a little surface-level right now, like it hasn’t dug deep into why these characters act the way they do. But the tension and chemistry are definitely there, and I’m here for the slow burn.

Bonus points for the gorgeous art—it’s clean, expressive, and adds a lot of charm.

All in all, cute with promise. I'm hopeful the next volume will build on this strong start.

Thank you to NetGalley fort this e-ARC.

This manga's characters have me invested and I eagerly await the next volume! Both Otogi and Toki have dual natures that they must navigate in their daily lives, presenting a persona to the world. Duality is a character trait I enjoy reading about is it is written well. So, I began this manga with high hopes and was not disappointed. Otogi and Toki's duality added to their complexity as people, showing how society can confine people to playing a role.

That said, I do wish for more Toki's perspective in future volumes. Throughout this manga, Otogi shares her point-of-view. Toki is just as intriguing to me as she is, so I hope to learn more from him.

This was fine..

I didn’t really vibe with the premise that the main characters were “two faced” it came off clunky. Both the FMC and MMC are relaxed outside of school. Why is that weird? Neither one is anything other than normal inside and outside of school. This was cute enough, and I would read the next one hoping it picks up but overall this was just mediocre story wise. The art style is very lovely though and the translation seems pretty good so I give this a 2.5

This was a dark horse. I thought I would like it, but I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I definitely want to continue the series. It's light and fun and I can't wait to see how the MCs slowly get closer and closer together. I want the HEA, but I want a slow journey there, lol. So far, it's delivering.

Cute, with some serious topics, high school slow burn romance with two MCs who are sweeter than they think they are. The artwork is also gorgeous. I do recommend it, with the following warning.

There is a predatory teacher character who has a run in with the MC h and a minor character. Nothing graphic or overly horrible happens, but it can be a negative for those who have experienced something similar.

4, I am looking forward to the next volume, stars.

My thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for an eARC of this book to read and review.

I enjoyed this first volume. The art style is beautiful and the leads are interesting to read about. I already feel endeared by Otogi. The premise provides a nice friction and tension between the two main characters.

At the moment though, it feels quite shallow and surface level. There's not enough for me to understand why they need these false fronts. I'm looking forward to how the subsequent volumes hopefully gets into this more.

Overall, it was enjoyable and I'm always glad to see more shojousei licensed.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this story. I’ve just recently started to dive in the world of mangas, and this was the first one that i haven’t watched a live action first.

This was very cute and refreshing, I got myself reading it in one go.
I liked to see them teaming up to trap the teacher and how (in my opinion) he fell first (even tho isn’t very clear on the first volume).

I will be reading the next volume of the series.

What a short and adorable reprieve from reality!

The story mainly follows our FMC, Otogi Katsura — a beautiful, sweet, and angelic first-year high schooler and class president. Loved by everyone (yes, even the girls — she has a fan club!), she's affectionately known as the school’s Heartthrob. By her side is our MMC, Toki Ninomae, the equally beautiful, sweet, and angelic vice president.

Together, they practically radiate — like divine beings basking in the glow of perfection, while the rest of us mere mortals watch from below.

But little do you know...

It’s all an act! MWAHAHA!

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ I love two-faced main characters, and in this story, both leads are delightfully deceptive. Early on, they accidentally reveal their true selves to each other and quickly strike a deal: keep each other’s secret and work together to maintain their angelic image. It gives strong “You and me against the world” vibes~

Otogi Katsura is a blast to read. She’s lovable, yes — but also hilariously narcissistic. SO narcissistic. For example:

Otogi to Toki: Everyone thinks you're utterly perfect.
Toki, smirking: What about you? Do you feel the same?
Otogi, deadpan: No? The most perfect person in the world is obviously me.

̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿'̿'\̵͇̿̿\з= ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) =ε/̵͇̿̿/’̿’̿ ̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ That said, as I mentioned, this was a pretty short read. Because of that, the characters still feel a bit surface-level. We know they’re putting up a front, but we’re not told why. Their family situations? Total mystery. But honestly, I’m not too bothered — this is only volume one, and I have hope that future volumes will explore their depths more.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ One more (minor) issue: the story is told from Otogi’s point of view, so while we get a peek into her feelings as they begin to shift, we’re left totally in the dark about Toki’s. He stays calm and smooth throughout — always saying things that get her flustered — and I kept wondering: Is he flirting because he actually likes her, or is it just part of the act?

In conclusion, if you’re looking for something light and fluffy to pass the time — or a perfect palate cleanser between heavier reads — this one’s for you. It’s a fun little romcom with just the right touch of chaos.

I loved 'Fall In Love, You False Angels'. Enough so that I ordered a copy from Amazon. Our main couple are class president and vice president. At the start, Otogi and Ninomae are not together. Otogi, class president, is the school's 'madonna." She's serene, beautiful and perfect. Ninomae, the vice president, is handsome, cool, and keeps himself above the fray. They both have reputations to uphold. They are admired and respected amongst their peers. Otogi suspects she might have a little crush on Ninomae, but she can deal with it. That is until her perfect serene mask slips in front of him and his interest is piqued.

I really like that Otogi and Ninomae know that they are wearing masks and that they don't feel a need to share their actual personalities with others. They know that they aren't as good as they show to others, but they've got business to attend to so the social mask works for them.

It'll be interesting to see how the author works out how the relationship is handled as they show more of their actual selves.

The art work is pleasing and unfussy, which I appreciate. I don't need overdetailing in my manga; I prefer uncluttered scenes so I can focus. This volume's art has a nice balance in the scenes where I can look at the art but also read the text and I never feel confused. The flow from panel to panel is very good.

I do prefer hard copy, which is why I bought the hard cop, but the online version is very good too. This is a solid opener for the series.

This one is soooo cute so far! I really enjoyed this intro to the series. Not too much building within a relationship-wise but I enjoyed getting to know both characters. I'd definitely try more from the series. Loved the art!

This foundation is there for this to be a good series.

I found the storyline and the art style to be new and refreshing.

Not sure if it was just how the pdf file was uploaded but it wasn't easy to read the first time through.
