I picked this series up because I love pretty boys with long hair (and Toki is the prettiest 💞) but really, I mostly stayed for Otogi’s chaotic inner turmoils! Desperate to keep her blooming feelings in check, her behaviour around Toki was so adorably funny. Constantly keeping up with her “angel” facade did take a toll on her at some point, so it’s nice seeing how she allowed herself to be more free with expressing herself in front of Toki (although it always ended up with her own heart racing 💕)
While I loved everything about this manga especially the budding romance, I feel like the English translation really fell short. I feel like both Otogi and Toki are not sharp-tongued enough, their wordings probably getting lost in translation. It was even explained in the translation notes at the end of the book that Toki used “watashi” (formal) when addressing himself in his light mode, and used “ore” (informal and mainly used by men) when in his dark mode. The formal and informal language used are what made the entire point of Otogi and Toki being “false angels”, so being unable to experience that in English is such a shame. I feel like if one is not used to this point of the Japanese language, they would miss the meaning of this story.
I will still scream and yap about this manga series non-stop though because they’re both the prettiest and most adorable and I absolutely cannot wait for the anime adaptation to come out!
Thanks to the publisher for sharing this manga for review. The pacing initially seemed a bit abrupt, but I really enjoy the concept of both protagonists hiding their real sides from everyone but each other. The art is also very cute. It's a bit hard to guess where this story is going, and so far the conflicts all seem very surface level - I am hoping for a bit more the intrigue or drama, but looking forward to the next instalment!
I enjoyed this read SO much. This manga reminded me that my 5/5 feels are on a whole other level; I had to go back to lower the score of another manga review because it didn't hit like this one did.
Now let me rave about this story. I read this volume in one sitting. I then had to look up when the next volumes would be published. THEN I looked up what other works by Coco Uzuki were available. I went down a rabbit hole because I was desperate to feel the butterflies again.
The art is gorgeous. I'm a very picky manga/manhwa reader. I don't want to waste my time looking at ugly art. My eyes were feasting on these pages!
The two main characters are ADORABLE. I love the storyline of them carrying a facade at school. I'm sure many of us are familiar with that feeling. The ability to be yourself with people you are comfortable with is one of the best feelings in the world. I'm so happy these two found each other. By the last few pages, I was internally screaming to "KISS ALREADY!"
I'm all in on this series. I cannot wait to see how Katsura and Ninomae's relationships continues to develop!
I can't thank NetGalley enough for ARC!!!
First of all I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the early copy of the book.
It was very cute, the character were well developed and it had funny elements to it, my only critique would be that it's alittle all over the place in terms of the time between scenes andthat transition of time not being showed anywhere on the page.

📖Fall in Love, You False Angels by Coco Uzuki 📖
The Japanese hit manga rom-com comes to print! The sweet smiles across the faces of the “perfect” student council duo hide secret, tough- as -nails personalities. These two- faced angels vie for dominance while keeping up their flawless act… but how long will it take for contention to give away to attraction??
There’s always something magical about reading a rom-com manga book that takes you through all the emotions. I just adore watching and hoping that couples fall in love and end up together. They’re imperfectly perfect together. When you read this, you’ll find out why it has the title “false angels”, so clever and cute.

“I'm supposed to the ultimate madonna, the unattainable flower that's admired by everyone. So why do I feel like....I'm dancing in the palm of his hand?
💖 Otogi Katsura and Toki Ninomae are the two heartthrobs that everyone in school envies. After Otogi gets harassed at a train stop and puts her harassers in their place, Toki sees a side of her that intrigues him. Otogi gets to see that side of Toki when he puts a teacher in his place for coming onto another student. Both realizing they have a 'dark' side to them creates an attraction that's undeniable, and the rest is history.
💖 This was cute. It was not what I expected, but it was cute. I think I was hoping the 'dark' side would be something a little more than the ability to not be exceptionally nice 24/7, but it was quite literally just that.
💖 However, I really loved the art style, and the characters were adorable. It was easy to read and full of detail. This sets a good foundation for our two main characters, and I definitely will continue this to see where they end up. :)

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review!
This was such a fun light read and I’m invested to read more. It was fun they both had “two faces” and how they’ll evolve from there I will keep an eye out for future volumes
Otogi Katsura is the class president, the renowned school’s Madonna, and beautiful to boot. Toki Ninimae is the class vice president, a good person, and his grades are top of the class. An ideal Presidential Class Duo. However, these two are both wearing masks to hide their real selves from the world, but will they reveal it to each other?
I haven’t read any kind of shojo beat since I was teenager. This volume brought me back to those nostalgic days, reading all the volumes I could get my hands on and hoping for a love like theirs. I’m excited for this couple's story to hopefully continue in the next volume.
A new manga boy has entered the scene 😂 Ninomae is so pretty to look at. Katsura is super narcissistic, but honestly I thought it was hilarious (it's giving Gojo). I love how they both have a "hidden" side about them, but they don't feel fake even when they're being overly nice.
This is my first manga of 2025 and it was so good! I was worried that it wasn't going to live up to my high expectations, but I loved it. Rom-Com Shoujo manga's are my favorite and this series has so much potential.
Love the style of illustration with the beautiful sparkling eyes and flowing long hair, gorgeous. Very cute story. I can't wait to read part 2!
Finished my first book in 2025 and it’s one of my most favourite shoujo series (づ> v <)づ♡ ˖ ݁𖥔 ݁˖ 𐙚 ˖ ݁𖥔 ݁˖
Katsura Otogi has always been called a perfect beauty and even earned the title “heartthrob angel” at school, but no one knows of her true calculating and sharp-tongued real self. Somehow, her secret was unraveled in front of the graceful prince of the school, Ninomae Toki, who surprised her back by revealing his own “dark side” and declaring her his partner in crime. Honestly, these two are just meant to be (ㅅ´ ˘ `) ༘⋆✿

This was really good. I truly enjoyed it and couldn't put it down. I finished it very fast. I laughed a lot and I love the fmc otogi and the MMC Toki. They have a good dynamic. The art is beautiful 😍 and again I loved the humor!!!!
Thanks netgalley for the arc ✨
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a proof in exchange for an honest review.
I must admit, it was the stunning cover art that first caught my attention, and I’m happy to say the gorgeous art style carried through the entire volume. However, it wasn’t just the visuals that captivated me—the characters and their interactions truly stole the show.
The story centers on two protagonists who conceal their true selves from the world, reminiscent of classics like Switch Girl!!, Horimiya, and Kare Kano. Their dynamic is both heartwarming and hilarious, delivering moments that made me giggle and even evoked those fluttery “crush” feelings.
The pacing was great, keeping me engaged throughout. My only real complaint is that I devoured it far too quickly, leaving me eagerly anticipating the next volume—especially since this one isn’t even officially out yet!
If you enjoy romantic comedies with endearing (and slightly narcissistic) characters and a touch of self-discovery, this manga is definitely worth a read.
This story is cute, but the two main characters are 2 peas in a pod which is the whole point of this series. The first book is setting the scene, and in my opinion, repetitive. It tells you time and again in different ways that the persona that our main female and male leads portray is not their true self. I probably won't be continuing this series as it didn't really catch me, and I don't feel like i've seen enough character development to intrigue me. It was cute though, and I appreciate what the author is trying to portray.
I’ve been interested in getting into manga, so I decided to give this one a read. I thought this was a cute introduction to the two characters of the series. The artwork and dialogue had me engaged and turning the pages. I don’t know what was so “unique” about their secret sides, but hopefully more will be revealed in future editions. I’m looking forward to see how their relationship progresses.
I was originally very intrigued by this manga based on its cover art, and it did not disappoint! The art for this manga is so good and all the main characters are drawn incredibly well that it's hard not to be mesmerized. The plot revolves around both of the main characters' two faced personalities, and provided a fresh take on a generally more common idea. Overall, the manga was very cute and the relationship between the main characters is sweet and fluffy, while also including a great deal of comedy. I would definitely recommend this and will be looking out for volume 2!
Thank you Coco Uzuki for sharing this manga to be read free from Netgalley.
“If only I were an angel, then I could shoot my arrow into his heart and really make it throb.”
she is just a rational girl! Her personality is the best!! And we can fangirl Toki together. The arts are so pretty. Otogi and Toki are destined for each other. I hope they are both taking too long to kiss haha
But the base of the story is a little weird. It is ok for a girl/boy to swear, let loose a little. Their environment does not force them to act perfect every second, I don’t understand why they act like they are forced to do that. And it is not a “unique” trait when you said/do something bad or awful. If it was for self defence, sure it can be tolerated. But it is not a good idea to glorify a “nasty” personality. Although their personality is not nasty but still, it is ok to be yourself with your friends. You don’t have to be perfect in everything.
I don't think I'm the right target audience for this manga. I was rolling my eyes hardcore for the first third and I couldn't connect with the characters at all, which is such a shame! I do love a good romance manga, but this was not for me. :(
First-year high schooler and class president Otogi, is the image of perfection, beautiful, kind and has a hoard of admirers however away from the public eye she's calculating, ruthless, and sharp-tongued. When Otogi slips up and exposes her inner baddie in front of the class's other paragon, Toki, he counters by revealing an unexpected side of his own and declares her his "partner in crime.", can this "heartthrob angel" maintain her perfect act and regain the upper hand, or will she be the one swept off her feet by a fellow false angel.
This is a beautiful and incredibly charming Japanese rom-com Manga, and I’ am honestly in love with it, The character dynamics are not only amazing but also engaging and wonderfully heartfelt. The art style is just so delightful and cute and matches the story perfectly. I can say without a doubt this book has captured my heart and I seriously need the next instalment yesterday!
