I already loved the first part of this series and the follow up didn’t disappoint either. If cozy crime / a cozy mystery with some supernatural aspects and great narration is your thing check this series out. I’m already desperately waiting for the next part.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC of this audiobook for my honest review
The only positive was the romance, the rest was pretty boring, mystery was forgetful. The romance was cute though. I just didn’t care much about the characters or care about the mystery enough to try and work it out. And it was as boring as it could be.

A cozy delightful mystery in Twilight Cove. Georgie is joining her aunt in getting the town ready for the pirate festival to celebrate the legendary pirate who may or may not have actually been there. One of the locals is excited because he has a treasure map and only he knows where the treasure is. Then, he is sadly murdered and Georgie and Aunt O find the body. What follows is Georgie trying really hard not to be involved but the magic dogs and the sentient owl friend refuse to let her just relax and brush the donkeys. While the mystery is eventually solved in final explosion, the best part of these books is the setting and the characters. I love this town, and the romance between Georgie and Callum is an added bonus. A fun mystery with a great narrator.

I really loved this book. I wanted to read it Becky the dogs on the cover. As a dog lover this was the perfect cozy murder mystery. The 2 dogs play a good part in the story along with a kitten and an African Gray Parrot. The narrator of the audiobook was fun to listen to.

Dead Men Wag No Tails by Sarah Fox is an utterly delightful cozy mystery set in the charming seaside town of Twilight Cove. Georgie Johansen's return to the town is filled with heartwarming moments as she works alongside her Auntie O at the animal sanctuary, bonds with her two adorable and unique dogs, Flossie and Fancy, and embarks on a budding romance with the handsome farmhand, Callum. The town is buzzing in anticipation of the annual Dead Eye Days pirate festival, but things take a dark turn when a treasure hunt turns deadly.
The excitement over a pirate treasure map quickly shifts into a mystery when Jasper, a longtime local and pirate enthusiast, is found dead. Georgie, along with her extraordinary dogs and a mysterious great-horned owl named Euclid, finds herself once again drawn into the investigation. The suspense builds as Georgie uncovers secrets about the town and its residents, all while navigating the risks of getting too close to the truth.
Sarah Fox’s writing is cozy yet compelling, with a perfect blend of quirky characters, a beautiful coastal setting, and a satisfying mystery. The characters, both human and animal, are charming, and the supernatural touches (Flossie and Fancy’s special abilities) add a unique layer to the story. Fans of cozy mysteries will find themselves completely captivated by Dead Men Wag No Tails, a fun and engaging read that proves that sometimes curiosity does kill the cat—well, the cat might be fine, but it certainly makes for an exciting investigation!

Dead Men Wag No Tails is book #2 in the A Magical Menagerie Mystery series by Sarah Fox. Narrated by Hallie Bee Bard.
Georgie is working at her Aunt Olivia’s animal sanctuary as well as writing. It’s time for annual Dead Eye Days pirate festival and even the dogs are dressed up for it. It takes a sad turn when there is a murder right before the start of the festivities. Is it due to a supposed treasure map the victim claimed to have? This book has wonderful characters, intriguing animals, and a great setting. I really enjoyed these stories mystery investigation. The twists kept me guessing until the end!
Hallie Bee Bard’s narration was very good. I enjoyed listening to her.
Thank you to the author, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The audiobook is well narrated and there are some very nice descriptions in the writing. The mystery itself is interesting.
However, this book was such a disappointment for me. I really liked the first in the series. This one spent most of the book in the protagonist’s head as she worried about her budding romance - did he feel the same way? Why would he like her when he was a professional baseball player with so many fans? Was she falling too fast?, etc. Drove me batty. Was it a word count issue - needing to plump up the pages? Most of it could have been cut. Plus they had chaste kisses at the end of the evening and went their separate ways (on the same property), then complained that they don’t spend enough time together… highly unrealistic: These are adults in their 30s! It seems to now be targeted for a YA or teen audience.
I suppose there is a third book in the works because if your magical dogs find an orphaned kitten in a cave, near where the magical dogs were found, I expect the kitten to have magical powers too. But I doubt I’ll be reading any more in this series to find out. 2.5 rounded up so as not to discourage the new target audience.
My thanks to the author, publisher, producer, and #NetGalley for access to the audiobook for review purposes.

Dead Men Wag No Tails by Sarah Fox is a delightful blend of magic, mystery, and adventure. The plot's pirate treasure hunt adds a thrilling twist, while the relatable characters keep you hooked from start to finish. Hallie Bee Bard's narration brings the story to life with engaging energy and perfect pacing. (I received an advance listener copy and all opinions are my own.) A fun, captivating listen!

I was beside myself with bookish glee when I discovered the first book in the Magical Menagerie Mystery series back in April and I’m happy to report that this second book is as good as, if not better than the first. It’s definitely earned a place on my favourite cozy mysteries list.
Love the animal sanctuary setting and the air of magical mystery. No worries if you’re not a paranormal fan, the magical elements are light and whimsical. Similar to Sofie Kelly’s ‘Magical Cats’ series or Amanda Flower’s ‘Magical Bookshop’ series. So, very much set in the real world (well, as ‘real’ as a cozy mystery can get!) with gentle enchanting touches that completely charmed me.
Georgie has settled quite nicely into life at the animal sanctuary with Auntie O and a host of entertaining critters to keep her busy. (And one very intriguing farmhand!) She had no intention of putting her sleuthing talents to use ever again but when a local man is murdered during the hubbub of the town’s annual Pirate Festival, well, how can an amateur sleuth resist? Plus there’s buried treasure to be found!
Such a fun cozy mystery with engaging characters (including Flossie and Fancy, springer spaniels with unique gifts that come in handy during an investigation!) There are plenty of solid suspects to keep an armchair sleuth anxiously engaged right up to the big reveal. And Fox’s writing style is beautifully descriptive, creating a cozy ambience that makes for a delightful read.
I enjoyed listening to Hallie Bee Bard’s narration of this book. She has a pleasant, easy-to-listen-to kind of voice that matches the author’s storytelling style perfectly.
My thanks to Dreamscape Media and Net Galley for providing me with an audio copy of this book.

This was such a good book. I loved the story and the writing so much. The characters were great and the story flowed smoothly. Will definitely read more books by this author in the future.

DEAD MEN WAG NO TAILS is the second book in the Magical Menagerie Mysteries by Sarah Fox. A pirate festival, check! A map to buried treasure? Yes, please! Magical dogs who are adorable on their own? Absolutely! This newest release checks all the boxes for an entertaining cozy mystery romp along the Oregon coastal town of Twilight Cove. Georgie Johansen, her two dogs, Flossie and Fancie, along with a guardian great-horned owl, have another mystery to solve with the help of Georgie’s best friend, Tessa, involving a missing pirate treasure map. There are twists to keep the reader guessing, and clues to follow for sharp armchair detectives. I was provided with an advance audiobook copy thanks to Dreamscape Media. The narrator, Hallie Bee Bard, did an excellent job bringing all the characters to life and capturing their individual personalities. I especially liked her rendition of Flossie and Fancy!

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator is amazing! Perfect fit for this book with just the right amount of emotion, different voices for different characters and a clear, exciting tone. This is the second book in this cozy series and I’m loving this series so far. The characters are already showing growth and the animals are so fun! I love the mysteries in these stories- the main ones as well as the ongoing secondary. I cannot wait for the next book in the series! If you are a cozy fan, I highly recommend this one- it’s a fresh take on a familiar feel.

This is the second book in the Magical Menagerie series, and I just love the mixture of mystery and magic wrapped up in a cozy mystery bow.
I was fortunate enough to receive a ALC of this audiobook and had a great time over the last few days running errands while listening to Georgie Johansen's adventures and hijinks while visiting her aunt in the coastal haven of Twilight Cove.
What sets this cozy mystery series apart from all others is the inclusion of Georgie's extraordinary dogs, Flossie and Fancy, and Euclid, the mysterious great-horned owl. These companions each have their own special abilities and open up a magical world that I cannot help but love and recommend.
In this edition, Georgie's posse must uncover the mystery behind Jasper's (a pirate loving local) murder. His death comes just days after he announced to all of Twilight Cove that he discovered a treasure map!
If you like a good cozy mystery or enjoy magical pet partners, this is for you.

Fun cozy mystery with magical animals. The dogs are incredible.
The story is easy to read while being just detailed enough.
Even though this is a murder mystery, it’s very heartwarming with a family element and budding romance.
The search for pirate treasure was a good element.
I always enjoy Sarah's books as she incorporates the past or past crimes in her stories.

Good addition to the series. I love the setting and the magical creatures, especially the owl. I am not a fan of talking animals, which this does not have, but there are quite a few times where their input is voiced and it got to be a little much after a while. The mystery was interesting and complex, which was nice, but the romance was a little heavy-handed. I did enjoy learning more about Callum through baseball but Georgie seemed to defer more to him in this one than in the first one and she seems to have retreated more into a shell, unable to do things on her own. Hoping to see more of the spunky Georgie from the first one.
