Have read a few of this author this is quite good, steady going, Detective Pengelly out with her dogs on Porthcurno beach when she comes across a body staged now the time is of the essence to find out who she is and where she comes from.
A steady pace good story although I did get who done it quite early on.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Storm Publishing for an ARC copy, and this review is entirely my own.

Death at Porthcurno Cove by Sally Rigby was everything I hope for and expect from this series. I love these characters dn how they continue to develop. Five stars!

You are pulled straight into the story, as Lauren Pengelly finds a young couple on a beach in dire circumstances. The story is well written and is woven around several friends of the couple, who may or not be involved. Fast paced from start to finish.

Porthcurno Cove is picturesque but Detective Lauren did not expect to find two dead bodies on her morning walk. Two youngsters, a bottle of Prosecco by their side and a note saying Sorry. Murder suicide was the natural thoughts of all on the force but slowly a different picture emerges of the seemingly young couples carefree life, holding secrets that their parents were blithely unaware of.
The investigation was slow because no evident clues sprang out. No enemies, no incidents at home or university, no drug problems. The final outcome was startling and ugly. The detective skills were thorough and the story panned out well.

Thank you for allowing me to review this latest book in the series. Another very good crime fiction story. I am enjoying reading hiw the relationship between Lauren and her team is developing. Also, how Matt has fitted in so well. This death was particularly disturbing as a young couple celebrating are found dead by Lauren's dogs whilst out for an early walk. The sensitivity shown to the families and the feelings of the team are well written. The Cornish setting is also well described.
Highly recommended.

During a walk along the beach DI Lauren Pengelly's dog discover two bodies. Was is suicide or foul play? Pathology will decide.
I really enjoy the location, the police procedures and the coming together of the pieces in this puzzle.
The cast of potential suspects has us guessing, will it be obvious or someone else altogether?
So many twists in this story, I was invested in the characters and wondered who it could be.
Great crime, I loved every moment.

We are quickly thrown into the "whodunit" story, when the lead police detective Lauren Pengelly, actually discovers the victims, while out walking her dogs. "Death at Porthcurno Cove" by Sally Rigby is part of a series, of which I have read none. And I didn't feel I was disadvantaged by this.
A fast paced read, going behind the scenes of police protocol and procedure, investigating the unexplained death of a happy young couple. We meet a group of young adults who had grown up together in a small seaside town, before heading off to uni and staying in close contact. Plenty of twists and turns had me doubting my own intuition....but I was happy to know I had the killer nailed before the ending.
We do dip onto the personal life of the police staff, which to me wasn't necessary. But I guess it links the series of books and readers become more invested in these characters as the work their way through the Cornwell murder series.
While I found the standoff with the gun abit over the top, I overall enjoyed the guessing game of the murder mystery.
Thanks to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and Sally Rigby for my copy.

Another great book. The characters are well written and have believable interactions. I like the police are sympathetic to the victims and their families. It will keep you guessing

Death at Porthcurno Cove by Sally Rigby is the fifth installment in the Cornwall Murder Mystery series. This can however be read as a standalone novel without feeling like you are missing too many details.
When Detective Lauren Pengally stumbles upon the scene of a newly engaged couple dead in the sand, she knows that there is more to this story than a tragic double suicide. But as Lauren and her partner dig deeper into this case it is clear that this was a double murder. What could have happened to this couple?
I went into this one without knowing that is was part of a series but I honestly don't think it had any bearing at all on the story for me. The plot was good, just enough tension and suspense without it being too heavy. As far as a police procedural, some parts especially the forensic aspects needed me to suspend my beliefs a little, mainly the timeline, but that absolutely did not stop me from enjoying this novel. All in all Death at Porthcurno Cove was a good, intriguing novel and I would be interested in starting at the beginning of the series.
Thank you to NetGalley, Sally Rigby, and Storm Publishing for this ARC. Expected publication date is March 19th 2025.

A mystery set in sunny Cornwall - what's not to like?
Out for a morning run along the beach with her dogs, the last thing Detective Lauren Pengelly is thinking about is work - but when she is alerted to two dead bodies, her working day begins a bit sooner than planned. At first, it looks like a suicide but something isn't right - and Lauren is determined to find out what. Along with her partner, Matt Price, they begin their investigation . . .
I loved the setting in this one. What seems like a straightforward puzzle really tests the patience of the investigators as they go back and forth, chasing down every lead. I did manage to work out the guilty party ahead of the end. For me, 4*.
My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley.

The latest DI Lauren Pengelly mystery and it does not let you down. Lauren is running on the beach with her two dogs when she comes across two bodies that looks like suicide An excellent read that can be read as a standalone through it's book five. Plenty of twists and red herrings and a good plot. Thanks to Storm publishing and Netgalley for this review ARC.

3* An easy read.
The fifth book of the series, this may be read as a standalone.
A police procedural set in Cornwall investigating the sudden death of two students. As DI Lauren Pengelly leads the investigation, she questions what made a popular, newly engaged couple commit suicide. Soon the clues lead to a double murder.
Even with all red herrings the author included, I guessed the identity of the murderer halfway through the book. Who cares. I happily continued reading to see if I my suspicion was correct.
An absorbing and intriguing read. So why only 3* rating. DS Matt Price would never make such an unprofessional and potentially deadly mistake. You'll have to read it to find out. Apart from that one flaw, a good read
With thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book, this review is my personal, unbiased opinion.

Another good addition to the series! Lauren and Matt although very different make an interesting duo and they are in charge of the investigation after Lauren finds the corpses at the beach during her morning run. Death at Porthcurno Cove is an easy read, with mystery and action and lots of tips for those looking to improve managerial skills (even though that's not the story's main objective!), and makes an interesting read.
I thank the author, her publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC.

DEATH AT PORTHCURNO COVE - I like books set in Cornwall, so I took a gamble on this author. While the writing style was a bit off, the story lines and characters were interesting. Not an intense book with a good pace and a confessing killer. This book reminds me of an average Cozy mystery. Source: Netgalley. 3*

This was an engaging story and there were enough twists and turns to keep me reading and intrigued until the end, and although I haven't read all the other books in the series I didn't feel like I was missing out so can be read as a stand alone. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is the fifth book in the series. D.I. Lauren Pengelly is walking her two dogs on the beach and finds two bodies. It looks like a young couple that has committed a murder suicide pact. At least that was what it was supposed to look like until they started to look closer.D.I. Pengelly thinks it's murder according to all the clues. The question is who would do such a thing is it muder or is it murder suicide?
Happy Reading!

I always look forward to this author books they have good plots.
From the beginning as they build to the end.
I recommend this book was well done.
I received arc from Net Galley and Storm.Publusher

This is a short and fast read about the murder of a newly engaged couple. They are so newly engaged, that i happened there on the spot, right before the murder. It must be personal. This case evolves around a few close people of the couple, and they all have secrets. One of them must have done it but, who? This is a good read, although I felt like it was a bit short, and I would have wanted to read more about the team. The ending gives away that the next book will have an intriguing story.

Book 5 in the Cornwall Murder Mystery series.
When DI Lauren Pengelly takes her digs for a walk along the beautiful, peaceful Porthcurno beach little does she realise what a horrible site she'll discover. I was totally hooked on this cracking thriller. Although I did work out who it was it didnt take anything away from the storyline. Loved it and can't wait to read more.
Golden sunlight bathes the rugged cliffs casting long shadows across Porthcurno’s sandy beach. Within a cove, lying on a blanket, are two bodies. Their limbs are twisted at unnatural angles, vacant eyes staring blankly at the sky. Beside them is an empty Prosecco bottle and a note with one chilling word written in black ink: Sorry.
As the sun rises over a picturesque Cornish beach, Detective Lauren Pengelly makes a grim discovery while walking her border collies. A newly engaged couple lie dead in the sand. At first glance, it appears to be a tragic double suicide. But something doesn’t add up.
The victims – popular university students Jasmine and Finley – seemed to have it all. But as Lauren digs deeper, she and her partner Matt Price unravel a complex web of secrets and lies. Finley’s gambling addiction was threatening to ruin everything, and Jasmine had an unwanted admirer. With a double murder to solve and suspects mounting, Lauren and Matt must navigate the close-knit community to find the answers.
An empty ring box and traces of silk fibres found at the crime scene could be vital clues to cracking the case but when another life is on the line, have Lauren and Matt run out of time to catch the killer?

I was excited to see the next book in Sally Rigby's Cornwall series. In this 5th murder mystery, DI Lauren Pengelly discovers the bodies of a young couple on the beach. At first, it appears to be a double suicide. However, the autopsy results quickly reveal that something much darker is going on. And thus this police procedural proceeds with far more suspected than expected to be investigated. As this series has progressed, I've enjoyed learning more about the investigative team - their aspirations, their worries, etc. I now cannot wait for the next book!
