The finale of the Death series. I was blessed to get all of these books as advanced reader copies. The first book is still my favorite, and the middle two dragged for me a bit, but this finale was what I had been waiting for.
Great war scenes, loss, tragedy, all of the emotions and final character growth. I am glad that I gave this series a chance.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape media for the ALC in exchange for an honest review. Release date 1/7/25!
Thank you NetGalley for the audiobook, the narrator did an amazing job bringing the story to life. I have throughly enjoyed this series, and this author.
The story line of this book had a lot of potential, but there are lot of plot holes that made the audiobook hard to follow.
Calista’s character is flat and sort of written in a way that can be annoying.
Talon is somewhat written the same way, he was a little more rounded but he was still hard to listen too. I think he was overly depressed and that ruined his character.
This name of the book seems like it should be more about Calista and that is not the case.
The dragons are the best part of the book.
Favorite quote of the book “Why is your heart bleeding on the inside”
Holy crap that was intense!! Just when you think Penelope Barsetti cannot take Calista and Talon's love story to another level- think again - this story ending was epic. From the first few chapters to the very last one the listener is taken on not only and emotional journey but one that pushes the envelope to what you think is actually going to happen and fills it with things you never saw coming. Five stars are not enough!!

This is the conclusion to the main story. I thought it was wrapped up perfectly.
I listened to this book through NetGalley.
This book was much more balanced than the rest of the books. I enjoyed this book the best. There is conflict and then resolution to that conflict. There are really nice descriptive battle scenes. Dragons, dragons, dragons, and more dragons. The spice scenes were well balanced. There is a lot of closure, healing and grief in this book.
I do like how the author wrapped up the final revenge. I also thought the little twist with the choice the male main character has to make was well written.
Overall, I really enjoyed the series and I thought this book was the best one out of all of them.
The epilogue was exactly what I needed!
I will stick by this opinion based off of the narrators that I have since the beginning. I enjoy the female narrator more than the male narrator. I do think he does a great job. I just don’t picture him as the male main character and that’s just my opinion. The Female narrator does a very good job. I love the emotion she puts in her voice and she also does a great job portraying the male’s voice parts in her chapters
I love how this series ties up. WOW. This about how hot this shadow daddy has to be for her to go into the underworld for him after he kills her father and she ends up enslaved working to find treasures for him.
I mean wow red flags galore.
The narrators are fantastic.
A good conclusion to a series. The narrators were super talented the emotion was captured perfectly in their tones. The story overall was a little drawn out and I believe could have been concluded more succinctly. Also I did not enjoy Calistas POV it was tiring.
