Like the author of this book, I have used BI tools for a large part of my career. While I found it much of the book fascinating, a large part seemed to be geared toward newer BI users. The book talks about everything from what is business intelligence to some available tools to some tips and tricks for using BI tools. I enjoyed the case studies the most because i felt they were relatable. Having used PowerBI, Qlik and Cognos, I find myself going places and saying I would love to see their data solutions. Imagine sitting in line at Hershey park and saying I really would love to see their business intelligence solutions even more than the chocolate.
The case studies in this book are a quick behind the scenes snip of what other companies are doing and it always me to map where my company is in comparison. The language is clear and easy to understand and easy to read. The book does not get weighed down it technical details. In my opinion this book is great for a beginner.
Thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I think the book was a great review and tool to help support the topic of BI however I think it could have assumed less background knowledge the bar is quite high.
For those in the know it’s definitely a great reference point and will provide many useful insights but for those wanting to get into the area I think it could have assumed less knowledge.

I found "Business Intelligence Essentials You Always Wanted to Know" by Irene Tobajas to be a valuable resource for professionals seeking to enhance their understanding of Business Intelligence (BI).
The book offers a comprehensive overview of BI, covering essential components and implementation strategies. The author effectively explains how to select and implement BI tools, with an emphasis on data visualization techniques.
The practical approach, blending theory with hands-on applications, is a key strength of the book. The inclusion of quiz questions and practical tools enhances the learning experience, making it suitable for both novice and experienced professionals.
The author's expertise as a BI consultant is clearly evident throughout, particularly in addressing critical aspects like data governance, security, and ethical considerations. The inclusion of real-world case studies provides valuable context for readers.
While some experienced professionals might find certain sections more suited to beginners, the book's broad approach makes it accessible to a wide range of professionals. Overall, it's a timely and relevant resource for IT executives looking to understand and leverage BI for strategic advantage in today's data-driven business landscape.

I thought this was a book that would help me find some information to go along with my current position. I wanted to find a way to u seedy and some of the analytical side to make better decisions. For me this book was difficult to read. I believe it is great for people who are more into this, for my I was trying to learn something I know little about.

This is a useful guide to the world of Business Intelligence (BI): what is it, why should one care — and why would one want to be a BI practitioner, what tools are on the market today (and what’s coming), and how a business could apply BI. The book contains many case studies to explain these concepts, templates and other resources. A great and comprehensive resource!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for ARC.

I’ve been a BI developer for 3 years and have mostly had to teach myself on the job. This book was great a great addition to my professional development so I can ensure I am following best practices. I think this would be well suited to people new to or exploring a Business Intelligence career path as well as seasoned professionals.

Very insightful look into Business Intelligence. I have worked as a BI developer for the past 10 years, and found this to be a well written breakdown of the history and intricacies of the field. Definitely worth the read if you’re in the field or interested in learning more.
