Adorable! The illustrations are some of the cutest I have seen recently and my toddler absolutely loved it. As a parent I love the dual language so that I can show my kids at an early age that people speak other languages as well. Thanks for the read!

One of my favorite thing about this book is that it is in English and Spanish. Wanting my children to be bilingual it is easier for me to do when it is already done so for me. This has easily become one of out favorite bed times story's.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have a 7 year old niece and several of my friends have young children so I have been reading children's books to see which ones they may want. I will say this one is definitely one on the list. It is adorable! I also loved the learning and inclusivity this book had with the words being both in english and Spanish. The illustrations were very cute and brightly colored to hold the attention of children. I would definitely purchase this book for my friends children.

Nite Nite, Piggies: Buena noches, cerditos is a children’s book written by Jane E. Ruth. It’s a cute bedtime story for small children and can definitely be relatable for parents as well- there’s something for everyone!

The book follows a group of piglets at bedtime who are telling their owners about why they don’t want to go to bed yet. It isn’t text heavy so young children with shorter attention spans would be the perfect audience to have this book read to them. Children will relate to the excuses the pigs come up with for staying awake - I’m sure parents all over the world have heard some of these before!

What makes this book unique is that each page is written in English and in Spanish, which would be perfect for a bilingual household! I’m not a Spanish speaker but managed to pick up on a few words.

I read this book with my two year old niece and she loved the illustrations. She’s only seen “classic” pink pigs in picture books, so she was very interested in the other breeds. She even named them all on our second read through! I loved the glossary at the end of the book showing all the different breeds used.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to review! This will be posted to my goodreads as well.

Before I launch into my review, I would like to say a warm thank you to Jane E. Ruth, BooksGoSocial, and Netgalley for the Advanced Digital Reader Copy of this title. For anyone with their eye on this title, here is my personal review of the book to help you decide whether you are interested or not. All opinions offered are my own.

I selected this book because I was interested in viewing a dual language book. I have limited Spanish speaking skills as it is something I am currently learning and wondered whether the book would help me with some vocabulary…it did!

The book is quite dark in color. As it is set at night, it is to be expected, and thew wording is in bold white text to contrast with the predominantly navy-blue background. I loved the fully illustrated pages and the large cartoon pigs of different breeds that were presented from one page to the next. They added some much need variation in color to the pages.

I would have preferred if the English was on one page and the Spanish on another page in parallel, but I accept that this is my preference. There was so little text, but I still felt myself expecting a page of English and struggled ever so slightly to codeswitch in that way.

The story is about some little piggies who are being told it is time for bed, and they make a range of excuses to stay up later. It is such a simple story with repetitive lines that it could easily help children with reading either one or both languages e.g., Nite, nite, piggies. Many of the words/excuses were basic and relatable such as needing a drink of water or wanting to play. That said, I still picked up some key words in Spanish for praying, and referring to piglets as opposed to the adult form of the animal.

If I could make changes to the book, I would place English on one side and Spanish on the other, and I would also make it clear that the adult was speaking and that the second line was the piggy speaking. I would also use the proper spelling of ‘night’ as I’m not in the habit of teaching bad habits that then need to be untaught.

I enjoyed the back of the book where they reprinted the piggies and named the breeds. I think it could have been beneficial had real pictures of the breeds been used alongside, or instead of, the cartoon images.

This book was a delight to read!
When children are exposed to multiple languages from an early age is a great way to expand their vocabulary and knowledge of languages and other cultures.
This book has cute illustrations that I know a child as well as their parent would adore!
There’s humour sprinkled in that made my 2 year old son giggle. The book follows pigs that make excuses up to not go to bed. Very lighthearted, educational, and fun to read!

Nite Nite, Piggies is the third book in a series of toddler Nite Nite books. It features captivating illustrations of various breeds of baby pigs, and the book's back matter includes two pages with photos of the baby pigs and the breed they represent. In this book, the baby piggies resist going to bed with various excuses. It is a book that entertains toddlers and educates them that there are different breeds of animals in the world, including pigs. I think this is a great book for kids who are still in the process of understanding how to use stimulus discrimination among animals while keeping the story lighthearted and fun!

I thought this was a heartwarming childrens book with beautiful illustrations. I am sure that I would've loved this book as a child, and without a doubt I would say that if I had a child of my own I would read this book to them. A beautiful story.

Cute and short read. Perfect for my toddler. The piggy illustrations are great. I also love the english/spanish aspect of the book. I laughed a couple times because getting a child into bed will lead to them saying they are hungry, or need water etc. just about anything but to get into bed and sleep.

What a sweet book for littles. The story is easy to follow, with beautiful illustrations. The Lingle aspect is wonderful as well. I can easily see my kiddos memorizing this book to “read” back to me.

Nite Nite Piggies is a super cute book of little piggies and their excuses of why they don’t want to go to bed. This is super relatable to what a toddler does :) This book held my 2 and 4 year olds attention and they asked to read it again. The illustrations are cute and simple and if you have a child that is in to pigs it shows the different breeds.

A fun little tale gets told in this book. We meet a few piggies, who are in no rush to go to bed. They come up with some clever reasons why, and some of them make sense at first. Yet as this book nears the end they all are snuggly in bed and ready for what dreams may come their way. Some kids will have a blast reading this book.

This adorable children's book is a true gem, offering a perfect blend of stunning illustrations and vibrant colors. The artwork throughout is captivating, drawing young readers into its lively world with every page.

A key feature is its dual-language immersion, seamlessly presenting both English and Spanish translations. This not only makes the book accessible to bilingual families but also introduces young readers to a new language in a natural, engaging way.

The two main characters are depicted in a way that reflects a rich diversity, providing children with an inclusive view of the world.

The story itself cleverly introduces young readers to the concept of pigs in a fun and toddler-friendly manner, building background knowledge while keeping the tone light and engaging.

Perfect for families seeking to introduce early literacy in both English and Spanish, this book is a wonderful resource for fostering language skills, cultural awareness, and a love for reading. Highly recommended for young children and parents alike!
