Very good explanations about anything and everything you could find in Arcadia parks. A very good read

cadia National Park is one of my favorite places in the world. There is so much variety and beauty there. I love that this book shares some of what makes this place so special.
The authors look at all of the creatures that live in the park. These include mammals, amphibians, birds, reptiles, fish, butterflies, and insects. There is info on the many included in each of these groups along with photos. There are also sections on the flowers, trees, shrubs and more that can be found in this special place.
As an extra bonus, there are suggestions for other places to visit in Maine, suggested hikes, some helpful websites and more.
Take a look at the section titled “How to Use this Book” to get started. Enjoy the photos. Dream of travel.
Many thanks to NetGalley and The Globe Pequot Publishing Group for this title. All opinions are my own. Highly recommended to those who are looking for a serious and detailed guide.

Overall, the book was well written and I did really enjoy it. Thank you for this advance reading copy!

Very detailed visual guide for Acadia nature. Easy to read and informative. An essential tool for identifying plants and wildlife in the park.

I always find books of this sort to be incredibly helpful to more fully enjoying a location that I'm visiting. They are full of interesting tidbits about the location including a touch of history, some basic information, and a great introduction. I always read this before I get there so I know something about what to expect. And I always stop at the visitor center at any park that offers one. This book also offers a section on Nearby Nature-Related Destinations such as boat tours, museums, nearby parks, and educational centers.
The section on animals that are common to the park is beautiful and informative. Some you'll be more likely to see than others. And some you should avoid touching and some you'll want to recognize so that you'll be sure to get them off of you (like Browntail moth caterpillars and ticks). There are photos of things you might find in a tidal pool - don't miss checking them out. They are fascinating places to explore.
And then, of course, there are photos and descriptions of the trees, bushes, wildflowers, grasses, mushrooms, etc. that you might find in the park. And the types of rocks and mineral.
In my personal opinion, you should always have a guide like this when you visit.
