Daniel Handler's books can be hit or miss for me. There are some I absolutely love and will never part with. This one, while of course amusing, didn't really grab me overall, but his writing is never dull!

I wanted to like this one because I generally appreciate Handler's snarky dark humor. But I didn't really connect with or like this book at all. Disappointing.

This pirate story wasn't what I expected but it was still a fun book. A little slow at first, I feel like Handler threw some adult material to liven it up.

I really struggled to get in to this. I can see what Daniel Handler was trying to accomplish--a quirky, Gaiman, Pratchett esque tale, but I just couldn't get there with it.

Did not finish. As much as I love other work by Handler, this story did not meet expectations. It's a valiant effort toward a quirky, different story, but it just didn't hold my interest. Sorry :( Nevertheless, I look forward to future projects by Mr. Handler.
