Allie loves to help her parents at their animal shelter. She herself has a big heart towards animals. Her favorite job is naming the animals that come through the shelter on their way to adoption. One day, someone leaves a young puppy on their steps. She spends the day with it, but can't come up with a good name. Eventually, they decide to keep the puppy and come up with the perfect name for it.
This was a cute story. i loved the family helping each other out. I think the last page of discussion questions were a nice way to start a conversation about getting a pet that is the right fit for you and your home. thank you netgalley and .4U2B for this book.

This was such a cute book! As an animal lover - specifically dogs, and being named Allie - I was excited to keep going with this book. I think it's a great way to show rescuing pets is important without being too "pushy" about it, as well as how hard and fun it can be to name an animal! Holiday is such a cute name and the way Allie gets to it is adorable.

This small girl has the opportunity to meet and greet each new potential adopter and speak with them about the gentle and loving animals (cats and dogs) that these guests happen to encounter and walk by. The girl loves her hours spent at the shelter-- she loves meeting the new potential adopters and loves befriending every single new animal who enters their program and patiently awaits their new forever homes.

One day, a tiny puppy is dropped off without a note and left on the shelter's porch steps. This is the story of a little girl who names dogs at the animal shelter. She is unsure of what to name her own dog, until she comes up with a great idea. Young and older children alike will enjoy this cute animal story.

This is a companion to the book A Dog Named Christmas. They are introducing a new puppy to the family and our little girl is on a hunt to find the perfect name. This book is cute. Kids will really enjoy it. The holiday in this book happens to be Fourth of July but it’s not about the Fourth of July. It’s more about everyday life. I like the illustrations they match the book pretty well and overall kids will like this.

This was a great book! It was warm, full of love and caring. This book touches places in a human, who has loved, lived with or could not live with a dog at any time in their lives. All children love puppies and kitties and Allie is a lucky lady that gets to have one in her life.
The struggle to name a little angel felt so real and when a puppy earns its name it is worth of celebration.

A sequel to "A Dog Named Christmas", this has a girl whose parents run an animal shelter that is forced to find a name for an abandoned puppy. Will the name match what is happening outside? Will it fit with his little cute form currently – well, probably not, as he'll only grow out of that. Is there a single chance it could tie in with the dog named Christmas, as there are quite a few holidays throughout the calendar? Well…

This is cuteness overload, even if you do worry for the poor kid having to do so much work at the sanctuary and then lots of chores at home. She's a cutesy, the dog is a cutesy, the whole old-fashioned sentiment is cutesy, if you like… It's not really got a re- and re-read narrative, but when it hits you with its saccharine charms it is only pleasurable, and it's certainly not a scan-once-then-discard kind of effort. There is too much work here, visually especially, for that. And it ends with a prompt to go to your local pet pound – which might be a horrid cause of unnecessary pester power for some families, or a reminder that many pet breeders are rich enough already, thank you.

If it was only going to lead to children madly demanding they rehome a pet, with no considerations for if they even can, I'd be the first to give this one star and a slap on the wrist. It's not that – it's almost not about the puppy in the end. No, I'm safe giving this a strong four stars.

How precious!!! The artwork is so sweet and I liked at the end it encourages readers to adopt a dog from the shelter and gives them questions to ask.

I adored this wonderfully illustrated ( Alessia Girasole) story about a little girl trying to find a name for her new puppy.

Allie’s parent run an animal shelter. She helps bath, feed and name the animals that come in the shelter. One day there is a box outside the shelter and a puppy is inside. She carries the puppy around all day, helping at the shelter. She doesn’t want to leave this one, so her parent decide she can bring it home. Allie can’t figure out what to name it. She ends up naming it Holiday.

What a sweet book! I have foster dogs for many years and have adopted several. This has a great message-adopt don’t shop!! I can’t wait to share this adorable book with my first graders!

This was such a sweet book! I absolutely adored seeing all the things Allie got up to while she thought of a name for her new puppy. The illustrations in this book made it so, so much better! I loved the message about the important of family and demonstrating responsibility.

I loved this story so much. My daughter and I volunteered for years at a rescue and it was so wonderful working with the others, including everyone from adults to very small children. Everyone has something to offer and we all enjoyed it and loved the pets.
The little girl in this story is only 6 but Allie cares for the rescues so much. When she finds an abandoned puppy, Allie has to find a name for him, and she is so positive.
