I always enjoy a book on a mysterious island and this did not disappoint. I really did feel like I was there with Abby and the rest of the backpackers. That cliff was scary!
What didn’t enjoy was how Ezsther‘s family, especially her father was sort of left off the hook by Abby and Abby even sympathized with him. He wasn’t involved in her death but he had no redeaming qualities at all. He was careless and craven about his work, he was mean and demanding to his whole family. I never got a sense of why Ezsther would want to have any relationship with him and that ends up being quite a thread in the book. He should have had some sort of positive qualities if we were to believe a grown woman would want to spend any time with him. At the same time, he didn’t seem rise to a level of abuse where you’d feel that she couldn’t leave or break free. It was odd and dragged down the book.

The Bartz sisters can do no wrong, and this outing from Andrea is no exception.
I felt immediately connected to Abby and Eszter, and loved the back and forth from the present to the past to open up more of the story.
The island felt like it's own character, and the atmosphere was so perfectly described I could almost imagine myself there.
Twisty, turny, full of secrets love and hope.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the ARC of Andrea Bartz’s book The Last Ferry Out. A great thriller. Abby arrives at a remote island off Cancun, to try and discover what really happened in the untimely death of her fiancé Eszter. A little naive and trusting, Abby befriends some old friends of Eszters. A few twists, along the way. A solid 3 stars.

I'm a huge Andrea Bartz fan, so I was excited for the opportunity to read this book. It was a bit disappointing for me. It is very atmospheric and there are multiple timelines but it was a bit slow

This was a decent thriller. I didn't care for the ending that much and the pacing was inconsistent at times. I have enjoyed other books by this author more. Overall, good but it's a bummer when your favorite character is the dead one.

This was a wonderful read. I did make the mistake of starting it at night and staying up way too late because I had to know what happened next. Great twists and turns—I love a mystery that I don’t figure out early!

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC! I was so excited to read this, however it was a DNF for me. It was too slow and didn’t grab my interest at all. The cover is stunning, which is one of the reasons I gravitated towards reading it.

Andrea Bartz writes really good thrillers! I have enjoyed all her books. They are a good amount of twisty and make you guess!

Woman travels to little Mexican island to learn about the circumstances of her fiancé's death. A solid read, lots of secrets to be uncovered, well written. The different timelines a perspectives were interesting and kept me engaged, but it dragged on a little and felt too long. Thanks to #netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you Netgalley for the advanced reader copy of The Last Ferry Out.
I'd give it 3 stars, it kept my attention but fell flat. I felt the characters were dull but I liked the story line.

Thank you Random House/Balatine Books and NetGalley for sending over an ARC of The Last Ferry Out!
I was really excited to receive this and I’m so sad to say that I was disappointed.
What I did like: the atmosphere! Andrea did a really great job of the setting, the people of the island and the eeriness.
What I didn’t like: the pacing was slow, nothing really happens until way later in the book, the ending was a little lack luster for me personally.
I would definitely try out her other books though!

I really enjoyed this one. Abby sets out to visit this little island to try to figure out what happened to her fiance who died there. What she discovers is a group of close-knit expats who all seem to be keeping secrets, perhaps even from each other.
Well written and just creepy enough to keep you wondering what in the heck is actually going on. I was surprised by the twists. I had my suspicions and I was wrong and I LOVE when that happens!
The epilogue was totally unexpected as well. Well written and just cagey enough.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for a chance to read this ARC.

This book really pulled me in! I felt like I carried Abby's stress throughout as she uncovered surprises - I was genuinely scared for her at times and that to me is the sign of a great psychological thriller. I kept thinking about this long after I finished - definitely recommend this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for an ARC of The Last Ferry Out.
I enjoyed Andrea Bartz' The Spare Room so I was excited to read her newest book, but this was a big miss for me. I felt there were just too many characters in the story without serving a real purpose in the plot and all of the characters were very one dimensional. The writing was also as super repetitive for a relatively short book. I did enjoy the island setting but it wasn't enough to make up for the other issues.
2.5 stars

Andrea Bartz has become an auto buy author for me! I loved The Last Ferry Out! Great twists as usual!

Quick read for me!!
This captivating thriller immediately drew me in with its atmospheric setting on a tropical island. The addition of a mysterious murder and unexpected twists kept me completely hooked until the very end. The shocking conclusion delivered the perfect curveball, making this a must-read for fans of twisty thrillers.

I was a fan of WE WERE NEVER HERE and hoped to have the same exciting read. Unfortunately, this one fell a little short. There were too many characters, it was slow paced and a bit predictable. But still a fun read. I'll be interested to see what Bartz writes next. Thank you NetGalley for the advance ARC.

I really enjoy this author! This was a thrilling book with a secret that kept me guessing until the end!

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for this arc. As a fan of Andrea Bartz’s work, I wanted to read this right away.
This story follows Abby as she seeks out answers to her fiancé Eszter’s sudden death on a small island in Mexico. You meet many different characters that spent Eszter’s final days with her and wonder what happened to her and who is telling then truth.
With many different twists and turns in this book, it kept you guessing without any predictable ending. However, at times, it also became confusing. The real selling point that kept me going through the confusing parts was the writing. Andrea Bartz has a way with words and descriptions that makes reading this book so easy. Overall, I’d give it a solid 3.75⭐️

First, the goods: I appreciated that the premise of this book was something new and different. As an avid reader, I love a unique storyline! I also felt like this was an "easy" read and didn't feel tortuous to get through.
With that being said, it still wasn't my favorite. I didn't really love or connect with any of the characters and I was really hoping for more of a big twist at the end. 3.5 stars rounded down. It's readable it's just not a wow.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group Ballantine Books for an ARC of this novel.
