Find My Daughter by Jennifer Chase
Detective Katie Scott #13
A dying woman’s last words, “Find my daughter!” begins a dark gritty tale of a serial killer on the loose in Pine Valley. Riveting read ~ Couldn’t put it down.
What I liked:
* Katie: ex-military K-9 trainer & handler, cold case police detective, good friend, leader, puzzle solver, works for her uncle the sheriff, loves her K-9 partner, suffers from PTSD, strong, dedicated, dealing with personal issues that I hope resolve soon
* Cisco: Katie’s black German Shepherd K-9 partner who has been with her to war and was discharged into her arms. He’s there for her no matter what, companion to Katie, skilled at his job, loving and protective, helps ground Katie – loved by all
* Sean: Katie’s work partner, supportive, good sense of humor, able to read Katie, in a committed relationship, loves Cisco, dedicated, protective, a good man
* John: forensic supervisor, ex-SEAL, intelligent, strong, protective, and I still wonder if he and Katie might end up together
* Evan: detective, Katie’s K9 training officer in the army, located in Sacramento, attracted to Katie but timing has never been right
* Luke: arson investigator, K-9 handler of Blitz a bomb sniffer, an enigma that could play a big part as the series progresses
* Catching up with a variety of supporting characters
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* The police procedural aspects and how the twists & turns were dealt with
* That the case was wrapped up without loose ends with the killer exposed and captured – hope he never escapes!
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* That Katie is deaing with moving on after she and her fiancé Chad broke up
* Thinking about how easily some people can con vulnerable people and the harm they do
* The way Katie tends to act without thinking and sometimes gets into trouble
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4-5 Stars

This is the first Detective Katie Scott book and I absolutely loved it. I’m such a sucker for a strong female MC, especially detectives. This book is about Katie and her team searching for missing girls and the person who killed one of their mothers. It seems as though Katie always ends up being a target of the killer (seems like a common theme with female detectives). Her male coworkers are determined to keep her safe while they find the killer.
I love that her gut directs the investigation. She just gets these feelings that something isn’t right. And she comes to conclusions that her counterparts don’t.
I can’t wait to pick up more of Jennifer’s books and read more about Detective Katie Scott.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC of this book.

*BOOKS ON TOUR*
Firstly, as always, I am extremely grateful to be given the chance to be part of the Books On Tour review team, more so because i am absolutely OBSESSED with this amazing series by the equally amazing Jennifer Chase.
Find My Daughter is book #13 in the Detective Katie Scott series and whilst you may expect series to start dropping off over time, with each new book, they are just as explosive, tension filled, fast paced and all encompassing as the first in the series. They just keep getting better and better.
Detective Katie Scott, starting to put her life back together after her relationship ended, is a speaker at a conference when a woman approaches her, distraught, begging for her to find her daughter Anna, who has been missing for a few days. On leaving the conference for lunch, Katie hears a commotion and finds the woman in the car park stabbed and in a pool of blood. Barely alive, her last words, "Katie, find my daughter."
The formidable duo of Katie and her partner Gav are determined to not only find Anna but also her mothers killer, when they receive the news that a girls body has been found and shortly after another girl goes missing, Anna's best friend.
Anna's last known whereabouts was at the mall, where Katie hears of a talent agency recruiting models. But, on investigating, nothing on this agency can be found anywhere. Is it a real agency or one set up to entice teenage girls?
This is one hell of a twisted killer, a chameleon who is able to change their identity with such ease it even unnerves Katie. How can they find a killer when no one knows what they look like?
From the very first opening paragraph, I was fully immersed. To say it was unputdownable would be an understatement. Completely compelling with a whole rollercoaster ride of twists and turns, it had me turning the pages at lightning speed, desperate to find out the who's, why's, and whodunnit's.
I don't want to go into too much detail as it will definitely ruin it for others, but this is a MUST READ, and if you haven't yet started this series... why the hell not? Download, get comfy, and strap yourself in for one super twisty ride!
The biggest thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

Pulse pounding. Tension filled. A brutal murder. A missing teen. And Detective Katie Scott just might lose her perfect solve record for cold cases. However, one thing is clear about Katie, and that is her unrelenting tenacity. Working alongside her partner, Detective Sean McGaven, she is determined to find answers.
Not only does the evidence resulting from these crimes need to be examined, there is also a rash of fires. No doubt they are due to arson considering the carnage being left behind. All while Katie is looking for answers, she can’t help but think of her recent breakup. More importantly, her ongoing battle with PTSD rises at the most inopportune times. But, Katie is relentless, and it soon becomes a race against time as she digs deeps while trying to find answers.
I’ve read the previous 12 books in the series and highly recommend doing the same, especially if you value continuity and the intricate backstories of Katie, Gav, and their team. This latest book was an exhilarating read from start to finish, and is certain to keep the most attentive reader guessing until the very end.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Katie is back with another gripping case that will keep you guessing. I was hooked from the beginning. This is a series that continues to get better. I felt like I was right there solving the case alongside the characters, who feel like old friends at this point. We also see Katie developing more in her personal life since the events of the last book and it was just as interesting as the mystery.

Find My Daughter by Jennifer Chase is the 13th book in the Detective Katie Scott series. I have not previously read any of the other books in this series and thought that this worked just fine as a standalone.
Detective Katie Scott is at a conference speaking about some of her cases. At the end of her session she is approached by a distraught woman wondering if Katie can help find her daughter Anna who has been missing for a few days. A while later, after agreeing to help the woman, Katie goes to the parking garage to go to lunch when she hears a noise. It is the same woman she agreed to help earlier. She has been stabbed and left barely alive. The last words she says to Katie? Find my daughter.
I won't go too far into detail for fear of spoiling it but... wow I was hooked from the first chapter! I have not read anything by Jennifer Chase before so I did not know what to expect. This book was fast-paced, exciting, and full of twists and surprises. I had no idea who the killer could be so I was shocked! Adding the rest of the series to my TBR!
Thank you to NetGalley, Jennifer Chase, and Bookouture for this ARC. Expected release date is February 17th 2025.

Another great crime thriller from Jennifer Chase.
Detective Katie Scott is at a conference when a woman begs her to find her daughter.
When Katie goes out to find the woman she finds her in a pool of blood in the car park.
Katie and her partner Gav are determined to find the missing teenager but soon receive bad news.
They start the investigation to find the killer, and soon have another missing teenage girl to find.
This is a gripping crime thriller, with a twisted killer who makes it difficult to track them down.
The last part of this book is a real nail biter, and it was great to see Cisco getting involved too.
Thanks to Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.

Find My Daughter is book 13 in the Detective Katie Scott series. Katie is at a conference speaking about some of her cases and techniques she used to solve them. At the end of one of the sessions, a woman approaches her who seems distraught. The woman wants Katie to find her daughter who's been missing a few days. Katie wants to help the woman and tells her so. As Katie goes to the parking garage a bit later to go to lunch, she hears a noise. It's the mother who wanted Katie's help. She's been stabbed and is barely alive. Katie uses her jacket to try to stop the bleeding. The last words the woman says to Katie is find my daughter. She's dead. Why would someone kill the mother of a missing girl?
Anna Braxton is the missing teen and the last her cellphone pinged was at the mall. Anna went to meet her best friend, Jasmine. Her diary says that she wants to be a model and actress. Katie finds mention of a talent agency that recruits at the mall. Katie thinks this is the key to finding Anna, but she can't find any information on the agency. Was it fake just to lure teenage girls to them? Katie gets a call about a house fire and a young girl's body has been found there. Anna's best friend is now missing, too so she's wondering if it could be Anna or Jasmine? There's a killer on the loose and he seems to have targeted young girls. The closer Katie and Gav get to solving the case, the more danger they are in. Katie is attacked at her home and it feels like the killer has a personal agenda against her.
Will Katie and her team find the killer before he kills again? Will Cisco, Katie's K9 partner help break the case? This book really picks up towards the end and I raced through it to find the answers I needed. I rate Find My Daughter 4 stars with a high recommendation. I love this series and look forward to each new entry. Find My Daughter is an outstanding entry to the series. If you like a good mystery with characters you'll love this is the book for you! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of Find My Daughter in exchange for a fair review. Find My Daughter is out on February 17 so don't miss it! #FindMyDaughter

Katie is adjusting to life without Chad but a perplexing case is keeping her busy.
The killer is a chameleon and a darn good one. It’s taking all of Katie and McGaven’s skills and experience to flush this sicko out.
I thought the villain was either one person or another who regularly associated with Katie but Chase led me astray with that assumption because I was totally off base.
The best scenes, as always, featured Cisco and during the nail biting climax he didn’t let me down.
Katie is healing and I can’t wait to see what’s up next!

A woman’s plea to find her missing teenage daughter will open a complicated and all-consuming case for Detective Katie Scott and her partner Detective Sean McGaven. The young girl wanted more out of life, wanted a career as a model or actress and was kidnapped. As Katie and Sean search for leads, they are called to the scene of a house fire with a dead body in the basement. Have they found the missing teen? The killer is not done and the young girl’s friend is now missing. The cases must be connected and time is of the essence to find her before she meets the same fate. When they learn that the killer may have been able to alter his looks, have they already questioned him without knowing who he was? Katie’s uncle, the sheriff, is worried for her safety and the killer plans to ruin Katie’s one hundred percent cold case closure rate. They haven’t found the missing friend and now Sean has been taken. Will Katie, her team and her K9 Cisco find and stop the killer before she loses her partner and best friend? A complete rush from the very first page! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

Find My Daughter is bk 13 in this series and each book is twister and more complex than the last.
As always I love coming back into this world with Katie, McGavin, and one of my favorite canine companions Cisco.
From the minute a woman comes up to Katie during a seminar and asks about her missing daughter only to end up dead not too long later. Katie was already going to look into the daughter's case, but now there's no question.
From page one I was invested and didn't want to put it down until I reached the end. With twists and turns around every corner the tension keeps building keeping you on the edge of your seat and completely immersed in the story.
I can't wait to see what kind of case Katie and McGavin will be solving next!!

Book thirteen in the Detective Katie Scott series
And another great read
Plenty of twists and turns
Will have you completely hooked
Thanks NetGalley

Find My Daughter is book 13 in the Detective Katie Scott by Jennifer Chase.
Once you open your kindle or book you will be gripped and it will be hard to put down.
The plot was very compelling with grisly crimes & a menacing small-town.
The characters are solid and engaging.
The books kept a good pace throughout and did a good job of building the tension.
Find My Daughter is a page turner for sure!

I really enjoyed this book and love Katie Scott and Cisco. As Katie and McGaven are trying to solve multiple murders with a perpetrator that is slippery and constantly transforming, they almost fall prey themselves. I don’t feel like a lot is known about the murderer by the end of them story, but it’s obvious he’s not gone forever and will probably pop back up later.

This book has so many gigantic twists in every chapter. And once again I just Loved reading it. I suppose all you need to know is that it’s a cracking action-packed story with a highly satisfactory ending – I really do recommend it.

Absolutely loved this mystery thriller!! It had me hooked the entire way through with a lot of suspense. No bigger nightmare than your teenage daughter gone missing…and then another. From the start we’re met with a murder in the carpark and I just devoured the rest of the book. The killer was creepy and one of those that gives you goosebumps because they’re hidden in plain sight. I love when investigators go against orders and will stop at nothing. Which is exactly what Katie did. There are some brutal murders in this book and I did find the ending slightly predictable. However, overall having not read previous books in this series I felt it was a great standalone I would recommend to friends and family. Thank you NetGalley!

Detective Katie Scott is putting her life back together after her fiancé left her and has thrown herself into work. While giving a presentation at a conference out of town, she is confronted by a woman whose daughter is missing and demands that Katie find her. When the mother turns up stabbed to death in a parking garage, Katie and her partner begin the search for the missing daughter, which will lead them to the murderer. When another girl goes missing and a body is found in a burned house, the cases start to build as does the pressure to find the murderer. It's an exciting investigation and leaves Katie wondering what is next for her personal life.

My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Find My Daughter’, book 13 of the Detective Katie Scott series written by Jennifer Chase, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Detective Katie Scott is asked by Stella Broxton why they haven’t found her missing teenage daughter Anna. Minutes later Stella is stabbed in a parking garage as dies in Katie’s arms with her last words to Katie being to find the ‘million-dollar man’. As Katie and her partner Detective Sean McGaven from the Pine Valley Cold Case Unit start searching, they discover Anna’s body wearing a yellow dress and left in the cellar of a burnt-out house. Soon after, Anna’s best friend Jasmine MacAfee disappears and Katie fears that the killer has taken a second victim.
‘Find My Daughter’ is another fast-paced thriller in the series that keeps getting better and better as Detectives Katie Scott and Sean McGaven, with the help of Katie’s ex-military K9 Cisco, go in search of a violent psychopath. This is a gripping, unpredictable, and thoroughly entertaining thriller as Katie gets used to being without her ex-fiance Chad who’s moved away, and the arrival of Detective Evan Daniels from the Sacramento Police Department, an old acquaintance of Katie’s with whom she’s working this case and who she feels an attraction to. This has been an incredible rollercoaster of a thriller that contains suspense, drama and nail-biting twists, as Katie puts her life on the line in order to save that of McGaven, and with an ominous cliff-hanging conclusion that could be a threat to Katie.

Speed reading through this book had me breaking out in a cold sweat as a I breathlessly awaited the conclusion never dreaming of the conclusion, which knocked my socks off.
A young girl has been missing, and her mother is desperate to find her. Her final dying words to Katie are to "find the million dollar man". If you have read any of this series, you know that there has never been a challenge that Katie will not accept. Now another girl is missing which just speeds up the timeline for solving this mystery.
This brutal killer is a chameleon who could be anyone and be anywhere, which makes it even creepier - a killer who hides in plain sight. The darkness of this individual's mind gave me goosebumps. I could feel the tension oozing out of the pages as Katie and Gav raced to outwit this vicious, yet highly intelligent killer. It was a chess game of sorts. The only saving grace for the victims is that the killer did not count on the ferocious tenacity with which Katie attacks solving crimes and fighting for victims. It was just a question of when would the hunter become the prey.
The characters in this series are electric and easy to like. Cisco, Katie's retired MWD, is one of my favorites. Everyone loves a good dog, but a working dog (or should I say hero) takes the cake. Jennifer Chase knows how to reel you in and keep you wanting for more. I accused everyone at some point as I tried to solve this mystery.
If you can handle the pressure and goosebumps, you will not want to miss this one.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

When Detective Katie Scott is approached by a smartly dressed woman with desperation in her eyes, Katie’s senses go into high alert. Moments later, questions still buzzing through her mind, Katie finds the woman dead in the carpark, blood pooling around her, and just enough life left to utter the words: find my daughter. Katie doesn’t waste a second gathering her team and pulling the casefile for Anna Braxton, a teen with sparkling blue-eyes and an even brighter future, who left to meet her best friend in the mall, then disappeared. Staring at the blank investigation board, Katie won’t rest until she fulfils Anna’s mother’s dying wish.
Scouring the Braxton’s impeccable family home, Katie finds Anna’s journal, filled with teenage secrets and confessions. But it’s the one-off mention of an approach from a talent agency that catches Katie’s expert eye. She gets to work tracking the business down, but it’s a dead end. And now Anna’s best friend is also missing. The case takes another terrifying turn just hours later: a girl’s body is found in the embers of a housefire, her yellow satin dress devastatingly beautiful amongst the ashes. Is it Anna, her best friend, or another girl?
Mommas beware. Dads, too. 🙂 This is a phenomenal book. Fast paced, gripping. When kids are involved, I get super invested in a story. This was, like all the others in this series, very well done. Highly recommended!
I received an advanced complimentary digital copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed are my own.
