I’ve always enjoyed a good rom-com spy novel, and I had a fantastic time reading this book last summer. So, when I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook of a story I had thoroughly enjoyed, it felt like a dream come true. From start to finish, I was once again completely captivated.

I’m eagerly looking forward to reading the next book in the Romancing the Spy series in the near future.

This was the first book that I have read by this author and definitely not the last. The story was so much fun while also setting up such a sweet romance between Jace and MacKenzie. There was attraction and great chemistry, while also a little bit of danger and intrigue requiring a couple of quick escapes. And, of course, there was the need for Jace to watch over MacKenzie and keep her safe without her realizing it! But what happens when they both fall for each other?

I loved that the woman who was so completely into all kinds of spy movies from the various eras ended up falling for her very own handsome spy! I loved getting to know these two characters and the entire Lancaster family. I am truly excited to read future books in this series!

The dual narration was really wonderful and I thought that the narrators’ voices matched the characters’ personalities very well. This story brought me so much happiness. It’s sweet and clean with kisses only.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Cute action romance that kicks off a family-based series.

Overall: 3.5
Spice: 1 - kissing only
Narration: 4 - Duel

Mackenzie loves spy movies and dreams of being swept off her feet by a gorgeous spy to add some adventure to her normal life. When Jace keeps crossing paths with her, does he offer the adventure she's looking for or will he provide more excitement than she can handle?

I really enjoy action romances and wish there were more of them, so I was very excited to get access to the ALC for this one. This has all the right pieces, but I wish it had more of the action elements. The relationship with Jace and Mackenzie is very sweet and he definitely sweeps her off her feet, it just got a bit cheesy. I found Mackenzie to be smart and figuring things out at the beginning, but then I was getting annoyed with her by the end. Not sure if that was the writing or the narration. It is a dual narration which I liked and its a clean read for those that prefer them. This also sets up a series set around a family of spies, so easy to get pulled into the following books. Would recommend for fans clean action romances.

I received this book from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media in exchange for an honest review. While the narration was clear and easy to understand and differentiate between characters, I personally wasn’t a fan of the narrators themselves. I love dual narrators and so that is a plus for the recording, but there are other voices that I enjoy far more. The story was cute and a fun escape, but not one that I will probably remember a month from now. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes escapism is exactly what you need.

OMG I 💔 💔 💔 💔 💔 this book!!!

Hot hunky spy must protect his asset who doesn’t know she’s his asset, but who loves spy movies and longs for excitement.

Things I 💔 loved about the book:
• Their made-up memories (ummmm bowling and Cheez-it socks??!!!!!)
• 🚨 Code 14!!! 🚨
• Mackenzie’s family dynamic
• The narration was perfection! Mackenzie’s narration was excellent! Very expressive and super fun to listen to. My favorite part was the rice cooker incident lol 🤣

Things I 💔 didn’t love about the book:
• Nothing!!

✨ I cannot wait to read Spies Don’t Fall for Their Rival!! ✨

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book is a spy movie lover’s dream! Haven’t we all, at one point, dreamed or imagined ourselves as a spy? I know I have. (Even though I would be terrible!)

This book is so much fun. Not only is there amazing chemistry between Jace and Mackenzie (their banter is the best!), there is action, secret agencies, family drama, danger and of course, spies. But there is humor, heart, and family love. So many, many things to love. Mackenzie’s friends and family were so fun too. Jace’s too. I enjoyed that backstory and the history involved with being spies.

Mackenzie is so funny and such a GREAT character. She’s so kind and positive. I loved her instantly. Jace is the dreamy spy that I couldn’t get enough of.

The audio narrators did an excellent job for these characters. Hallie Bee Bard’s expression and tone for Mackenzie made her so likable and relatable. She was such a positive force. Mewha also captures Jace well. He did well with the makings of a great spy voice. Loved them both!

I received an eARC from the author and huge thanks for the audio publisher for the ALC from NetGalley. All views are my own.

This was a fun-laugh out loud spy romance.

I absolutely adored how clueless sometimes the fmc could be, how we in everyday life don’t realize whats going on around us.

There’s romance ( closed door) intrigue, plenty of action packed scenes.

I loved that is a dual POV, so we can see things from the spy perspective, making him more human and understanding what he is going through at the same time.

Aso the scene where the MMC is introduced is just perfect.

The audiobook narration was spot on.

Thanks to Net Galley for the Audiobook ARC

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC audiobook for an honest review.

What a fun book! The narrators did a great job bringing this story to life.

Mackenzie loves spy movies. Jace is an actual spy! They have an adorable meet-cute and their paths cross again when Mackenzie is mistaken for someone who was to receive a package. Mackenzie suddenly becomes "an asset" to Jace...and something more as there is a true connection between the two.

The romance was adorable mixed with just the right amount of "spy" stuff. Jace's family was a bonus with plenty of characters to feature in future books...fingers crossed!

This was a fun, cute read with a little bit of action. I enjoyed the first half in particular, where the FMC blunders her way through being an unknown asset and the MMC and his colleagues have to keep fixing her blunders. This felt largely like a popcorn book — not a lot of substance, but I had a great time. Plus, it’s a nice divergence from the typical rom com, giving some extra intrigue and action because of the “spy” factor.

Thank you to the publisher and author for an audio copy of this book. It's done in dual narration by Hallie Bee Bard and Rusy Mewha, both of these narrators are new to me and did a great job.

This is a fun sweet romance, there is a bit of kissing, but that is as far as it goes. The focus is on the story, the characters and their connection. The characters are fun, and rich and their banter is on point. I love the spy theme. Mackenize is a physical therapist, who has a knack for details and loves to share her life. She's smart and picks up on key details, that give her clues even before he shares his real job with her. Jace, the spy, is drawn to Mackenzie from the first time he sees her. How much he cares grows from there. However, he can't figure out how to handle keeping the people he loves safe, and being a spy. Mackenzie struggles with how to fit his world into heres.

They eventually figure it out, and I can't wait for the next book in the series, and to learn more about Ledger.

Spies Don’t Fall for Their Asset is the first story in Meg Easton’s Romancing the Spy rom-com series. Mackenzie MacNeill and her best friend Livvy are spy story aficionados. As often as they can, they meet on Tuesdays for a spy movie night. Would such a man of mystery be Mackenzie’s dream guy? You bet!

Mackenzie isn’t dating anyone, but folks keep trying to set her up, even her sister Maggie. And the blind date she is set up on, with the brother of one of the guys Mackenzie’s brother-in-law works with, is an absolute disaster. When CSA agent Jace Lancaster is making contact with an asset he cannot help but hear the conversation at the booth behind him. When his business is concluded, Jace takes on the role of long lost friend and is able to wrest Mackenzie from dating hell.

Never expecting to see her again, Jace is quite surprised when Mackenzie is misidentified by the person handing off the special key and is roped into his world. And since he is onsite, Mackenzie becomes his asset to protect.

This is such a good laugh-out-loud spy adventure! With great characters, and a plot no one would believe if you told them, Mackenzie is plopped into a world of intrigue, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next in the series!

Thank you Net galley and Dreamscape Media for this audiobook.
3.5 stars, i enjoyed listening to this audiobook as the female narrator was super fun and so expressive. Especially when she starts to ramble, it felt so natural, and it helped Mackenzie's character developed a lot. I could understand why Jace fell for her. She was literal sunshine. Jace, on the other hand, trained to be secret operative, keeps his cool even on the time he might be falling hard for her. I love this type of dynamic and that was perfectly shown in this book.
I loved the whole Lancaster family and want each single sibling to have their own book. PLS MEG.
Waiting excitedly for Dreamscape Media to drop "Spies don't fall for their Rivals" on Net galley, cause i will be defo first in line for that.

If you're a fan of hilarious rom-coms but in the shape of a spy movie (think knight and day), you’re going to adore this book!

I absolutely devoured it. The humor was spot-on—I caught myself laughing out loud so many times that my family started giving me funny looks. The female main character had such a sharp, witty sense of humor, and the side characters were just as hilarious and charming.

From the moment the two main characters met, I was hooked. The chemistry, the way they complemented each other so well —I was smiling, giggling, and literally kicking my feet the whole way through. Every character was so lovable, and the story kept me entertained from start to finish. If you’re looking for a book that’s equal parts thrilling and laugh-out-loud funny, this is it!

I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did an amazing job!

I can’t wait for the next book!

Ok this book was adorable! I laughed out loud several times. Mackenzie got herself into so many awkward situations it was easy for me to relate. I also thought her friends were amazing- the powder room scene was hilarious!
I loved all the spy aspects. It was a fun change from
my usual type of books.
I listened to this one on Audio and LOVED the narrators. It’s always more interesting to listen when there is both a male and female reading.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!!

Meg Easton is a regular on my TBR list, and this one did not disappoint! A sweet romcom with a side of adventure. I love a good guy main character (rather than a bad boy) so I loved Jace and his sweet, protective, but not overbearing, personality. I appreciated the growth that both characters went through to get to their happily ever after. It wasn't a quick, I messed up, forgive me scenario, but it also wasn't super long, drawn out, and angsty either. Can't wait for the next book to see how Ledger's story unfolds.
*UPDATE* I read this book right when it came out but just now listened to the audio over a year later and it is just as good as the first time. The story is entertaining enough to keep my attention and the narrators are great at portraying the emotions so you really get sucked into the book.

Meg Easton has always been a go to for creative and sweet contemporary romance stories for me, but adding spies into the mix was a treat I didn't even know I was waiting for. I absolutely loved this book!
Jace is a member of an elite group of spies, so elite people don't even know they exist. Mackenzie is a fan of all things spy movies, though her life is pretty mundane and she’s been burned by love so much she has a one date only rule. That is until she's rescued unexpectedly from a terrible blind date by a hotter-than-Ethan-Hunt hero himself.
When Jace's mission inadvertently becomes Mackenzie, he must go undercover dating her, only she has no idea and the dating is never fake or just a job for Jace.
I enjoyed how fresh and fun this story was. I haven't read anything quite like it and was hooked from start to finish. I love the "family of spies" and you bet I am already counting down for the next book in this series. I can tell I’m going to obsess over them all.
This book was entertaining, with fun dialogue and witty moments. I loved the chemistry between Mackenzie and Jace and how relatable their characters were with all the dating awkwardness. The ABC game/grand gesture was SO creative and I loved how memorable of a moment it was.
If you’re looking for an innovative new take on the romcom genre, don’t miss this new spy romance from Meg Easton. (For the record, if you’re not big on suspense, this isn’t really a romantic suspense novel. The spy stuff and action are pretty light and more in the background. Think Knight and Day, but without any violence.)
I received an advance listening copy of this novel from Dreamscape Media and Netgalley and really enjoyed both narrators. I felt like they encapsulated Mackenzie and Jace so well and sounded good together. It was easy to listen to and follow along. They captured the humor and suspense in the right moments. I recommend the audiobook version.

I listened to the audio version of this book. It had a dual narration done by Hallie Bee Bard and Rusy Mewha. I had never heard of either of these narrators, but they both did a fantastic job of narrating this book.

The story revolves around Mackenzie, who is a Physical Therapist and a man, Jace, who is in one of those secret alphabet agencies with basically the rest of his family. The agency is trying to stop something from being transferred to the bad guys, when it is mistakenly dropped into Mackenzie's bag. And they are off to the races to a very entertaining set of circumstances and situations.

I really enjoyed this story. It's light and flirty and full of romance. The spy part isn't super seriously dug into, so if you're wanting more of the danger and intrigue, this one may not be for you.

Thanks to the author and NetGalley for this audiobook. All thoughts are my own.

I love when I find new to me closed door romance authors and especially those that publish their books in audiobook format as well as print.

This was a fun, sweet romcom with spy movie-loving MacKenzie and true life spy, Jace. Their chemistry and connection was evident from the meet cute and I liked how the relationship progressed. The third act even made sense when it could have been frustrating and I liked how they both worked through that conflict. This book has fun banter, cute kisses and a great extended family that I’m sure we will see more of in the future.

This was my first Meg Easton book and I will definitely consider picking up her future books. The Lancaster Family seems like a lot of fun and I can see how there are a lot of sweet stories that could come out of this series.

The narrators both did a great job bringing these characters to life and I felt they were good choices for this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this audiobook. The thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.
