Casey Blair's Take Back Magic might have struggled a bit with editing, but Sierra Walker more than makes up for it—so much so that she singlehandedly earned this book an extra star from me. Fierce, competent, and unapologetically herself, Sierra is the kind of heroine I can't get enough of. One of my favorite moments is when she says, “…my type is a man who can appreciate how competent I am and is dedicated to helping me achieve what I’m capable of without trying to overshadow me.” That line encapsulates her strength and self-awareness, and I was cheering for her the whole way through.

The book does have some rough edges, particularly in pacing and structure, which could have been tightened with stronger editing. But even with those flaws, the story has enough heart and promise to keep me invested. The world-building feels like it’s just getting started, and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds in the rest of the trilogy.

If you love strong, fiercely independent heroines and magical adventures, give Take Back Magic a try—Sierra Walker makes it absolutely worth it.

This was a fun concept and it started felling fun and fresh. Sadly, the writing was something I couldn't connect with.
It felt like whiplash in a sense; never feeling like I had both feet on the ground after chapter 2 (maybe it has to do with the editing) and, at the same time, it felt very dated to like 10 years ago.

Would make a fun movie, but I won't think much about this one after today.

I thought this book was an easy, enjoyable read. I liked the storyline and thought the world(s) were interesting to read about. I loved the FMC and her passion to take back what is rightfully hers. The MMC was a perfect partner, supporting her in exactly the way she wanted, only stepping up when she didn’t realize she needed him. I thought they were perfect together and will definitely be reading the next book in the series! Thank you Casey Blair and Victory Editing for the opportunity to read this book through NetGalley!

This book is a fast-paced adventure filled with magic, angels, demons, and wizards. The characters are truly captivating—Sierra stands out as a fierce, independent, and capable woman, while Nariel is the perfect match for her. Their dynamic is just perfect, making every moment between them exciting to read. The ending left me on edge—I can’t wait for more! If you love fantasy with strong characters and thrilling action, this one is for you.

I really enjoyed atake Bavk Magic and have instantly gone and downloaded the next two books because I need to know what happens! Sierra Walkwr us determined to bring back magic to Low Earth, no matter the consequences. What she doesn't expect is to be joined by a fallen angel! Nariel and Sierra have instant chemistry and I really enjoyed their budding relationship alongside the high stakes story line!

In Take Back Magic, you are dropped immediately into the action. Sierra makes a pretty bold move at the beginning of the story that directs the rest of the plot, including her interactions with Nariel, who is definitely more than he lets on initially. There is magic, there are angels, it's dystopian. Lots going in a shorter page count.

The world building is spread throughout the book, but knowing it is a series is helpful. While reading, it can feel a bit jarring at times because it seems like you should understand the context of the world even when you haven't received the information yet. It would have been easier for me to get a little more information up front, but that's a preference thing. I enjoyed the main characters and would continue reading to see where things end up!

Thanks to Victory Editing and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.

Mages, Wizards, and a beautiful fallen angel all in one romantasy - you know I had to read it! Sierra Walker is on a mission to reclaim the magic that was stolen from her and most definitely not fall for her fallen angel prince partner in crime on his own mission to save his people….

The FMC is a strong, super intelligent, and fiercely independent character who can quite literally take on worlds. The MMC is charming, equally intelligent, and most definitely a lethal cinnamon roll. They are both a little broken but together nothing can stop them. Loved the chemistry and banter between them which is done in such a way it doesn’t feel insta-love but also not quite slow-burn either - for once it’s kinda in the middle. Given the book is short I think the balance is done well.

This book packs in a lot in under 300 pages and I loved how you were just thrown into it from the start and you just had to go with the flow and pick up information as you go along! if you like a book to take time world-building and explaining magic systems this is probably not for you.

I’m so happy the entire trilogy is already completed and cannot wait to see how these two navigate through the challenges that are laid out at the end of this book!

Casey Blair you are the master wizard for writing such a fun and captivating book. I’m so grateful I got the opportunity to read courtesy of an eARC provided by Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op!

This book is going engage teenage (and adult) readers alike due to the following:

- The reader is quickly immersed in this fantasy world and the action starts straight away

- The magic system (and the injustice of it) is clearly explained and easy to understand

- You can relate to the locations they travel to because they are part of our world

- Sierra is a strong (cussing), kick ass lead, righting injustices and who we all want to be!

- The hot fallen angel who works alongside her is total boyfriend material (but of course it's complex - he's a demon)

- I assume it's not a massive novel in length as it was quite quick to devour (hard to judge when this was a downloaded ARC from Netgalley and not a physical copy).

This is definitely a series I will be looking out for when purchasing in the future for the school library.

Sierra Walker is sent back into her world from a world with magic. All she ever wants is to take the magic back and will stop at nothing to achieve her goals. A demon offers his assistance to help bring back the magic for good.

I'm obsessed with the fast pace modern world setting being an alternative Earth and familiar places being mentioned within this world. While the magic system may be simple by using spells it is easy to understand and grasp. There's also angels, demons, sprites and wizards/witches.

Sierra is a headstrong main character who has very strong morals and knows what she wants. Nariel comes across a bit mysterious, handsome, and seductive. Not to mention he's a complete shadow daddy.

The relationship between Sierra and Nariel is adorable as their banter is delightful and playful and makes me keep turning the pages wanting more as it's a bit of a slow burn.

Some of the battles felt a bit one sided and felt predictable which made it feel like the high stakes weren't there.

This was such a fun short read! I really enjoyed this and read this within a couple of hours and couldn't put it down.

The magic was so interesting! I cant wait to go into the next book.

This was a stunning book and i loved everything about it!!
I read this in one sitting and I don't know what to do now that I finished it....
Sierra is such an amazing fmc and I loved how confident and protective she was. She had no problem standing up for herself or others when she needed to and I loved that. She is so stubborn and I really related to that because I am also really stubborn.
Nariel is the most perfect choice for Sierra and I think they are meant to be together!!!! He was such a perfect match for sierra because he let her do what she wanted and supported her while she did it. I am so excited for the next book and I cant wait to read it and see how their relationship develops!
Gorgeous book

Sierra Walker was once a student of a powerful mage who betrayed her after 10 years, stealing her magic. All Sierra wants in her magic back, and when the mage returns a decade later to ask for her help, she sees her opportunity to take back magic not just for herself, but for the world.

Thank you to the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review. While I thought this plot was an interesting concept, I found the pacing was not quite right for me. We were thrown straight into the story, with a lot of information and action in the first few pages of the book.

The magic system and world building is very cool, however I feel we weren't given much explanation or exposition in terms of how the world worked. I did struggle to get into this book, and I think the writing style wasn't quite for me personally which may be part of the reason I didn't enjoy this book as much as I expected to based on the plot and tropes.

This book is based on a very cool concept and I do like the plot, but unfortunately I just struggled to connect with the writing and characters.
