First, I want to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read 37 Questions by June Kaye!
I absolutely loved the concept of this book. The forced proximity, the “36 Questions to Fall in Love” social experiment, and the hidden identity trope had so much potential to create a truly swoon-worthy romance. Unfortunately, the execution fell flat for me.
The writing felt too formal and lacked the emotional depth needed to fully connect with the story and characters. It felt like it could’ve benefited from a few more rounds of editing to refine the tone and bring out the heart of the story. Another big issue for me was the timing of the third-act breakup. It happened just past the 50% mark, and instead of a short emotional arc, it dragged on for far too long. This really caused me to lose interest in both the characters and their relationship, to the point where I didn’t feel invested in whether they ended up together.
That said, with some adjustments to the pacing and additional editing, I think this book has the potential to be something great!

The premise of this book was super interesting and I even think the manoeuvring to make the pretty unusual circumstances happen was very clever and compelling. Unfortunately, I think there was a lot besides this that just wasn’t for me. I think this storyline would have been better served as a novella, something a bit shorter that would be able to move a bit more quickly, especially during the latter half of the book. The ending was sweet, but I just don’t think the pacing or the execution of this plot was for me.

A romance novel where two unlikely characters are stuck together during a tornado warning and shelter in place and forced to get to know each other. Typically, I am not a huge romance novel reader, so I am possibly not the best judge of this. However, I enjoyed the book, the likable characters falling in love, for me, I just need it to be a little faster paced. This will be a perfect, light read for romance novel lovers, with the perfectly timed release, right before Valentines Day. Thank you so much to 8th Note Press & NetGalley for the advanced reader copy.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Nora’s been frustrated with her job and after a one night stand with a coworker who she discovers has a girlfriend, she’s really questioning her role there. Aidan is an actor whose latest film is shaping up to be a nightmare. In town for the shoot, he winds up at the home of his childhood best friend. It’s there he meets Nora in a charming meet cute. When the tornado alarm sounds, the two must shelter in place. A night of wine and fun questions they found in a magazine leads to them getting closer. But Aidan has a secret. What will Nora say when she finds out?
This book had some lovely moments, but it dragged a bit for me. The characters, especially Aidan, lacked depth. He spoke very formally as if he were in a regency novel. I did enjoy their meet cute. It was very funny and creative, and I liked the premise of the question game. Even though the question game is designed to bring them closer, I didn’t quite feel the chemistry between them. It was a lot of telling and no showing.
The plot is predictable and didn’t add anything new to the movie star in hiding trope. You can see the third act conflict coming a mile away. It actually would’ve been refreshing if there was a twist on that. It would’ve been interesting to see what would’ve happened had Aidan confessed himself. It came earlier on than normal at around 65% of the book, so we are left with quite a good chunk of the book with scenes of them pining for each other and Nora going on and on about how awful he is, which became very tedious. I also found it unrealistic that a restaurant would be open the day after a tornado. Even if there weren’t any damages done to the property, I doubt any reasonable employer would ask employees to come to work. I know it was the vehicle in which Aidan’s secret comes out, but it wasn’t realistic.
The premise of the book was a good idea, but unfortunately, for me it just didn’t deliver.

37 Questions was an interesting read. I'd say I really appreciated the way we started and were met with the promised concept straight away.
We meet the two main characters in a lighthearted fashion. Our British character felt quite cliche at times but that's ok. I think I could have benefited from learning more about the charcters in the beginning, separate from each other as opposed to from their interactions together.
The questions were a lot of fun at first. Although, to me it feels like you kind of need to know the context of a person's experiences in life before hearing all their answers to these kinds of questions. Them explaining it whilst answering feels like such an out of character thing, and it's not organic then. It can be a beautiful thing to learn things about a person whilst living life with them.
I appreciated that it wasn't constant with the questions, there was other stuff going on, but I think this book would have benefited from not actually following the premise the title promised and taking a different approach to them gaining a deeper connection.
Because of sticking with the design, there are some trauma dump moments that feel a bit uncomfortable. Even though you like someone you've just met and you still don't know them, sharing things that are extremely personal so soon does not feel like a safe way to facilitate a relationship. I am probably taking this way too seriously, but overall, I think this could have been really fun, but for me, it didn't quite get there.
Thank you, Netgalley, for access to this ARC.

This book had such a cute premise and so much promise, maybe too much as it left me disappointed. I wanted to like this so much and it just wasn't for me. The pacing was slow. The characters didn't seem very realistic. It was sweet. I wanted more. Im not a fan of miscommunication being the issue between two adults. This may be better for a different audience. Someone who likes fluffy, cozy books could love it. Maybe with editing it could be tighter and better since this was an eARC given in exchange for my honest review.

While this book held a lot of promise due to its interesting premise, I unfortunately found the writing to be lacking and the storytelling to be clunky and misguided. There was a real lack of depth to the characters and to the story, despite the authors' efforts to imbue them with more serious elements. The more sensitive topics (grief, abandonment, chronic illness, etc.) felt rushed and never fully explored, leaving them to feel exploitative rather than giving them the justice they deserve. I appreciate the authors' attempt at a new, intriguing format for a romance novel, but ultimately the writing did not hold up for me.

I loved the cover of 37 Questions—it’s what made me curious to read it! The warm tones, beautiful illustrations, and the font choice all came together perfectly to create something eye-catching and inviting. It definitely sets the tone for the sweet, intimate vibe of the story. I also enjoyed the Brazilian representation, as well as how the book respectfully and meaningfully discusses sensitive topics like chronic illness and miscarriage as a thoughtful way to add depth to the plot and explore the characters further.
The premise of being stuck in a tornado with a handsome actor while answering "37 Questions to Fall in Love" is very original. I liked both Nora and Aiden's characterizations and development. Their dynamic was wholesome and soft. The way the questions push them to open up and explore their feelings really added a special dynamic to the story. It’s not a very fast-paced book but if you’re in the mood for something that’s heartfelt and introspective, this hits the mark.
Some of this book's tropes are insta love and miscommunication. Overall, it's an enjoyable read and I would recommend 37 Questions if you’re looking for a cute, romantic story with some emotional depth. It’s a sweet, feel-good debut that will leave you with a smile!

This book was pretty good. I think it was a good storyline and I enjoyed the plot. The characters were well written and I thought the author did a great job.

37 Questions brings an interesting premise that all of us probably thought of at some point - what if you were temporarily stuck indoors during a tornado with a handsome actor, and to pass the time you do a quiz together called "37 Questions to Fall in Love"?
As far-fetched as it sounds, it was a fun story to explore and I enjoyed that the characters were quite deep and worth getting to know better as the story progressed. There are references to chronic illness and miscarriage that aren't there just for shock factor, but are used in the story in a meaningful way that feels authentic. I also liked the overall theme, exploring how relationships come to exist and what it truly takes to build trust and intimacy.
What didn't click for me however was the instant love, though for some readers it might make sense considering the book happens over the span of just several days. It also relied quite heavily on miscommunication / lack of communication which isn't my favorite trope.
Overall this was a fun read! If you're into whirlwind romance that sweeps you off your feet, and you ever wondered how it would feel to meet your favorite celebrity, this might be the book for you!
✨ Disclaimer ✨ I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Thank you 8th Note Press for giving me this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I requested this book because I thought the premise of it was really interesting but unfortunately the plot really dragged on and the writing almost felt too formal for me. I had to dnf this book because it just wasn't for me.

Honestly, I was really excited about this one.
Unfortunately it was not up to my expectations.
I have to say the mmc lying in the beginning really turned me off and I really wanted to dnf this.
But I pushed through and did finish this.
It was okay. But not for me.
Tq for the opportunity

A terrible storm unexpectedly brings Aiden, a British actor (trying to stay lowkey), and Nashville resident Nora together. The premise is really fun - using the 36 questions to fall in love (featured in NYT a few years ago) as a way for two strangers to connect.
I was intrigued early on as Nora and Aiden meet and dive into the questions, but there is a lot of dialogue and perhaps forced chemistry which detracted from my overall enjoyment of the story.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a copy.

for me the writing style felt too formal and I just could not keep up with reading the book. It felt to formal which in turn was lacking emotions for me and a lost connection.

2.5⭐️

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book while an intriguing description for plot was unfortunately a miss for me. While Aiden and Nora seem like nice enough characters I couldn't get into the writing. Some parts felt messy and the rest of the times I was mostly bored forcing myself to finish it. Honestly, I could have DNF instead.
[Due to this and 1⭐️ I will not be sharing review on my social media accounts.]

This book unfortunately was really boring to me. It was a struggle for me to get through. It definitely feels like a first novel. I think the author has potential I just wasn't fan of this book.

Thank you to the publisher for the ARC of 37 Questions by June Kaye! Overall, this was an okay book! I enjoyed the plot and characters. Unfortunately, the writing felt juvenile and I would have loved for it to have felt deeper in a sense? I often felt myself skimming sections because I could get the gist of what was happening and didn't need the full text to answer my questions. Nora and Aiden were solid, relatable main characters and I enjoyed learning more about them.

I really wanted to enjoy this book as it included all sorts of flavors of the human kind which is something I am very fond of. In this case a man who is more than his testosterone, social anxiety, FM. And yet... I gave up at about 20%, because I was mainly reading a dialogue, it felt stilted or forced. Not for me :(

DNF 24%
I found the premise of this book cute and different than anything I have picked up before, however, I felt the book left a lot of potential unexplored. Overall the book is cute, but that characters felt two dimensional. Additionally, the prose explored little outside the volleying back and forth of answers to questions they are asking each other, while this is the premise of the book, I felt it became the whole book. I chose to DNF when I reached the “question” in the characters quiz in which characters were to regal their life story in under 5 minutes.
I believe this book will find its audience, unfortunately, I am not it.

Books I DNF are reviewed but not rated on social media (as NetGalley requires a rating, I would estimate a 2-star review for this book)
