As soon as I read the title of this book, I was intrigued. Julie is, in fact, a psychopath. It was so interesting to be inside Julie's mind. I absolutely loved how she switched a situation in her head to fit her narrative. I also liked the flashbacks although you had a hard time believing her tale of events although I really enjoyed reading them. Julie was clever but also naïve. She was complex but also simple. I found myself rooting for her although I know I shouldn't especially with the homeless man who squatted in her house! This was a great read. Once I started reading, I couldn't but the book down. I will be thinking about this for awhile to come. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

Julie Tudor is 49 and has it a fantastic job (well-maintained spreadsheets are the lynchpin of an efficient office), a beautiful house (some may wonder how she got the money for it, but nothing has been proved) and the man of her dreams.

Jennifer Holdich's character doesn't slip in her convictions one bit througout the book - she doesn't think there is anything wrong with a single thing she does to prove that she and Sean are perfect for each other.

I really didn't enjoy this book solely for the fact that Julie made me so uncomfortable that I caught myself moving around a lot to try and get rid of the unease I felt while reading the book. I didn't get the dark humor part, I think that part of my sense of humor is missing. Julie was just horrid for me. It was written well - probably TOO well - the characters were very fleshed out.

I think if you enjoy dark comedy and humor you'll enjoy this, I just didn't and kept thinking the whole time of the people she was destroying.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

I knew this would be a good one from the prologue. It gave me just enough information to know things were about to get crazy and to make me NEED to know the story! It pulled me in immediately.

This book reminded me in a lot of ways of the shows Baby Reindeer and You on Netflix - delusions of grandeur, her confidence in knowing exactly what she wanted and her willingness to do whatever she had to in order to obtain those things. If you like those shows, definitely give this book a read!

It was hard to know how to feel when reading this because at times it was funny and I would laugh at the ridiculousness of her fantasies, but then I would think “holy cow, Julie Tudor is the definition of mental illness,” and then I wondered if maybe I shouldn’t be giggling! Whoops. She could turn literally any situation, remark, glance, etc. into whatever she wanted it to mean. For example - someone accepting her request on Facebook meant they were in love because it clearly ‘meant a lot to him.’ She didn’t need logic in any circumstance because she’d created her own world in her brain.

I think this book is brilliant because it’s written in a way that you obviously know she’s got some issues going on and she’s completely wrong about everything, but somehow you want to believe her and root for her a little. You feel bad for her and see that she doesn’t have any real friends or family and it makes you wonder how she got to this point. We got to see a bit of background in her teenage years, but I would have loved to take it back even a little further to see what her childhood was like, and if she’d always been this way!

I would have also really enjoyed a chapter from the perspective of Sean, seeing how crazy she was from someone else’s eyes would have been wild!

Julie Tudor is Not a Psychopath is exceptional in its uniqueness and unlike anything I’ve ever read, and I’d love to read more by Jennifer Holdich!

Thank you to Jennifer Holdich, SOURCEBOOKS Landmark & NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book early! Publish date: July 8, 2025.

PS… I stayed up way past my bedtime to find out how this ended.

My rating: 17+ - murder, sexual situations, alcohol, language

I enjoyed this book, don’t let the title fool you because Julie is definitely a psychopath.

Something about hinged women is really interesting to read about especially from their point of view. Julie was a delusional, complex and kind of a quickly woman. I enjoyed reading from your POV and the different moments in her life, from past to present.

If the job of a book is to make you annoyed and want to shake the main character back into reality, then this book definitely does that. You’re not on the side of Julie, but you can’t help but shake your head and say, “this woman.” it was enjoyable, I was hooked from the start. It fall at the end as I didn’t really enjoy the ending hence the 4 stars, but it’s a one seat read and it does the job.

I would be definitely checking out this author in the future and a really weird but enjoyable debut. Loved it

This book was dark but cringy. I feel like I felt all sorts of emotions while reading this. Julie Tudor for sure is not okay and is a Psychopath. Julie is obsessed with her younger coworker who doesn't like her back. Creepy, funny, disturbing, fun are all words I would use for how I feel after reading this book. I really enjoyed this book.

Julie Tudor is definitely a psychopath. I am not sure what I thought this book would be when I requested it, I went through more emotions than I thought I would reading this book. I thought it would be funny and maybe a little dark and it was, but it was more.

Julie Tudor has a good job, a home, plenty of money and the man of her dreams. The only problem? He is marrying someone else, but that has never really been a problem for Julie...right??

I found myself going through so many emotions for Julie, sympathy, embarrassment, hate, disgust, sadness. It was weird how the timelines would hop, and I could feel disgust for her in one chapter and then sympathy in the next. It was one of the most strangely emotional reads I have ever read.

I could not put it down, I was so desperate to see what she would do next and how she got to where she was in the prologue.

Thank you Sourcebooks Landmark and NetGalley for this title. This is my very honest review.

Julie Tudor is Not a Psychopath by Jennifer Holdich is a wildly fun and sometimes jaw-dropping story. Julie, a 49 year old office worker, is madly in love with Sean who is 25. Unfortunately for Julie, Sean doesn’t know they are in love. For her, they're hiding their feelings for the sake of appearances, and the fact that Sean is in a relationship with someone else never sways her internal narrative.

I love how this story is told from Julie's point of view. Her full commitment to her belief is shown through multiple timelines, and she definitely doesn’t think she’s a psychopath. While others see her as a little off, Julie is surprisingly dangerous. The story is a dark comedy, and at no point does Julie question her actions or beliefs, making this book a can't-look-away scenario. I was hooked, and I liked the ending which was unexpected yet perfect.
Overall, Julie Tudor is Not a Psychopath is an enjoyable read with a unique and engaging plot that keeps you hooked until the end.

Thank you, NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for the advanced reader copy. This is my honest review.

While reading this book, I experienced secondhand embarrassment and also said aloud, more than once, “You crazy bitch.” To quantify this, I thought I’d excised both words from my vocabulary, but even that didn’t help.

Whether I genuinely liked the book isn’t the question. It’s whether I could stick inside of Julie’s head for long enough to read it. And I did. I couldn’t help but shake my head each time she decided that someone else was in love with her, though.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC. This review contains my honest, unbiased opinion.

Julie Tudor is the love child of Joe from You and Bridget Jones. And I am OBSESSED. This book was perfect and I can’t wait to see what Holdich does next!

This book was a gem. It was darkly funny, wildly entertaining and just the right amount of uncomfortable. From the very first page, I was hooked and unable to put it down.

What makes this book so compelling is its razor sharp humor and unique narrative voice. Julie is a fascinating character. She’s unsettling but charismatic, making you both laugh and squirm at the same time. The discomfort comes in the best possible way, pushing boundaries while keeping the story so engaging.

The pacing is perfect and the writing is sharp and clever, There’s never a dull moment, and I found myself genuinely disappointed when it ended. I wanted more from her.

If you love dark humor, complex characters and stories that aren’t afraid to be a little (or a lot) uncomfortable, this book is a must read. I absolutely loved it.

In the vein of "Baby Reindeer" this was an odd, yet enjoyable read about a delusional woman that becomes obsessed with her coworker. The pacing and flashback formats flowed seamlessly as the reader delved into Julie's past and present. I actually felt bad for her as she became a victim of circumstances at the hands of other people. Great ending and I could definitely see this as a miniseries.

Julie Tudor is most definitely a psychopath. If unhinged women narrators are your thing, this will be a delight to read. A middle-aged woman becomes obsessed with a coworker and does everything she can, both illegal and not, to keep him to herself. Her coworker, Sean, does not share her affection, but that’s not really a deterrent to Julie, who lives in her own fantasy. The story is told from the perspective of Julie and switches between multiple timelines, digging into exactly who Julie Tudor is (and was). Being inside Julie’s head is…a lot, and frequently cringeworthy, even if she doesn’t see the cringe. This felt like a comic take on Misery, with a helpless man at the mercy of a seemingly harmless woman, which always makes for an interesting power dynamic. This was fun and messy and at times silly, and the writing was perfect for the vibe of the novel.

Well, that was a lot darker than i expected from the cover! I wasn't sure whether to laugh or hide under the covers at some point - definitely creepy! I would describe this debut novel as a guilty pleasure - couldn't stop reading it even though it was very disturbing at the same time! Can't wait to see how the author follows up this chilling but fun debut!

💭 This was such a FUN book to read! Our main character, Julie, can definitely convince you that she is NOT a psychopath. There is a lot of suspense of what is to come next and I honestly would always end up surprised at our main character's strategies to remove people who were in the way of her and her "true" love. I LOVED how quirky and humorous Julie was! The author does such a good job at making you fall in love with the main character, even if you feel you shouldn't, as she is doing all these psychotic things.

In this book, we have Julie, who is a woman living alone and has settled into a corporate job. This is where she meets the love of her life, Sean, and she is determined to have a happily ever after with him. The problem is that Sean needs help declaring his love to her. He ends up being trapped in another relationship, and Julie will do whatever it takes to be together with her love, Sean.

Grab this one up when it comes out and be prepared for a thrilling adventure!

Thank you for the digital advanced reader copy!

I had so much fun reading this book! My FAVORITE type of main character has funny internal dialogue and completely unhinged and that is 100% Julie Tudor!

Julie’s love life is complicated, and she has no luck with the man she truly wants to be with. She may claim she’s not a psychopath, but she is doing some truly psychotic things to proclaim her love.

The amount of times my jaw dropped and I laughed out loud while reading this 👏🏻 👏🏻

Read if you love:
-all things unhinged
-multiple timelines
-people bad at relationships
-bingeworthy books

4.5⭐️

Huge thanks to Sourcebooks Landmark for letting me be a part of this cover reveal and also getting an ARC through NetGalley!

I can honestly say I've never met a character quite like Julie! She lives in her own delusional world and if something isn't going how she likes via her love life, well, she takes care of it. Julie is a 49 year old spreadsheet wiz just looking for love in all the wrong places. Unfortunately her social cues aren't the best and she's constantly falling for others who aren't actually in love with her, like she thinks. As the title suggests she isn't a psychopath, a serial killer would be a better term. I flew through this one and while it was a bit of a deviation from what I normally read, it was very entertaining and a great debut! Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is not my typical read, but it certainly was a fun read. Julie is many things throughout the story, but is she a psychopath? You will have to decide.

This was a hoot to read! Julie is a character like no other. Some might call her quirky. Some might call her a psychopath. She is living in her own world, for sure.

As the story progresses, it jumps from the present back to Julie’s younger years to fill in the gaps about her past and what a past it was. The book cover gives a little taste of her activities.

I like that the story is told through Julie’s voice, so you can really see the crazy oozing out. This would not be humorous in real life, but in fiction, it makes for good reading.

Thank you to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Landmark, and Jennifer Holdich for providing me with this ebook to read and review.
