I am reviewing a copy of The Beekeeper’s Son through Zondervan Fiction and Netgalley:
Deborah Lantz arrives in Bee County, Texas, expecting to find an oasis of citrus groves and olive trees. In a barren, drought stricken land, she finds a tiny Amish district struggling to survive.
Although Deborah longs to return home to the lush, green countryside of Tennessee, she wants her mother, a widow with six children, to be happy once again. Even if it means accepting Stephen as her future stepfather. The place is filled with strange animals, twisted, stunted trees, and there hasn't been a drop of rain in months.
She then meets the beekeeper's son. As a result of an accident that killed his mother and destroyed his faith in God, Phineas King's face is disfigured by scars. As a result of their encounters, both begin to appreciate the beauty of God's creation. Phineas, who keeps the bee hives and harvests honey for his father, finds solace in keeping the bees. Deborah walks through the strange land of figs, Mexican squash, and wild cucumbers to see him. There is never a time when they are alone, but they are always lonely. Phineas learns to see himself through Deborah's eyes, and Deborah learns to see herself through Phineas's.
I give The Beekeeper’s Son five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!

A sweet story about learning to see the beauty in all of God's creations. If you enjoy the Amish genre you should pick this one up.
