I’ve been a huge fan of this series since the beginning, and am always wanting to jump to the next story, but this one was my least favorite. I’ve loved how Casey has always had a full team, and marine patrol situations involved and a lot more danger, but this one was very MEH in comparison to all of the other books. I didn’t like Tracy’s complete shift in her character, most of the rest of the team is gone, just so many things in this book did not work for me, nor did it have as much excitement as I’m used to. I’m still curious to see where the story goes in the next installment to see if some of the issues resolve, but I think the series is hitting a stopping point soon with the track it’s going.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for my honest feedback

I received this book through NetGalley, and I truly appreciate the opportunity to discover new authors and share my thoughts.
I didn’t realize this was the 12th book in the Detective Casey White series when I started reading, so I was initially worried that I had missed some important background information. However, I was still able to follow the story and found it to be a gripping and well-paced thriller. The suspense kept me engaged, and the writing pulled me into the mystery. While I’m sure longtime fans of the series will appreciate the depth of the characters even more, I still enjoyed the book and now want to go back and start from the beginning!
Thank you again to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. I look forward to reading more from this author!

This is actually book 12 in the series. Loved the ending in this one, as well as the setting. It was unpredictable, and I really cared about the characters. I couldn't get enough of this book.

So we return to the outer banks for book 12 in the series.
Family dynamics are never easy trying to balance personal and professional commitments is becoming more challenging and it's clear that not everyone is content with their lot!
Another complex, emotive, suspenseful read to add to this engaging series.

I was pleased to see another book in this series. I like reading about Casey & Jericho and their family. This had a good mystery that was good and I didn't figure it out until the very end. I am not sure how I feel about Tracy. my opinion she is acting like a brat. but that is just my opinion. Looking forward to seeing what is next for Casey & Jericho.
Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy

Gone in the Storm is book 12 in the Detective Casey White series by B.R. Spangler. These books are fantastic and get your heart racing quickly. The series takes place in the Outer Banks and in this book high school girls go missing. They are eventually found dead with bottle caps, feathers, and stones near the body. There never seems to be a sign of a struggle and the theory is that the girls know the killer. When a suspect emerges it's a boy that really liked one of the girls, but she only wanted to be friends. It turns out the boy left another high school and transferred to this one. Why? Is there something there? Casey doesn't think this boy seems right for the murders, but the D.A. does and is pressuring her to get this case solved.
The Doctor makes an appearance in this book and sends chills through all of us as he makes some threats towards Casey's family. Can Casey solve the case and get it right with the D.A. pressuring her to make an arrest? Can Casey and Jericho keep the kids safe with the Doctor around? This book is another fantastic entry to the series and I rate it 4 stars with a high recommendation. The end of the book will be your undoing as you race to finish it with so much suspense. I look forward to the next book in the series as some changes are coming. I always enjoy trying to guess the killer in all of the mysteries that I read and I guessed this one correctly very early on. It was driving me crazy that they didn't see it as well as I did. I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of Gone in the Storm in exchange for a fair review. #GoneInTheStorm

As soon as I saw this book compared to a Lisa Regan book I knew I had to read it. And those of you that have been around awhile know how much I enjoy police procedurals with women detectives, another big selling point.
I like Casey White and Tracy Fields. They have an interesting dynamic between the two of them and I definitely want to read more of this series to understand it better.
I was easily sucked into this book. I needed to know who the murderer was, and why he was targeting the teenage girls. And what the connection to the collection of seemly random items meant to the story.
I enjoyed getting both Casey’s POV and the murderer’s. There’s just something about getting to see into the murderer’s mind.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC of this book.

Love this series. Each book in the series is wow and this amazing book is just brilliant. Wow, this author delivers with every single instalment of this incredibly thrilling series. Just wonderful.

For starters, it’s almost as though Spangler knew the unreal snowfall that our Outer Banks would get this year…it really did happen. But, fortunately, that’s the only similarity with this heartbreaking thriller. Detective Casey White is back with another tragic case involving crimes against children that only she can solve. This is yet another not-to-be-missed book in this addictive series.
Thank you, B.R, Spangler. Bookouture, & netgalley, for my early gifted copy! All opinions are my own.

This author writes a great detective story. Detective Casey is called out to a possible homicide, a body in the snow.
This book was such a page turner, more than one body has turned up with obvious signs of the same killer.
There was plenty of back story in this tale too. The creepy escaped criminal that wreaks havoc in their personal life. Life decisions to be made for a successful adoption.
Meanwhile the story continues with more clues, I'm obviously clueless as I didn't see it coming.
Fantastic story I highly recommend it.

Detective Casey White book 12
I love this series and always look forward to reading the next installment. This one had me hooked from start to finish. I flew through it and that ending definitely left me wanting more!
Getting in his car was a mistake. But as the frigid air whipped through her thin coat, she felt too cold to say no. Now, snowflakes settle on her long dark lashes. Ice-cold and forever fifteen years old, she’ll never see her mother’s smile again…
As the biggest snowstorm the Outer Banks has seen in decades ravages the coastline, Detective Casey White is called to an abandoned junk yard miles beyond the marshes. Teenager Jill Carter’s body is posed on her back, a look of terror frozen on her beautiful face. Casey’s heart breaks for Jill’s family. She vows she’ll do whatever it takes to find the merciless killer who left this girl out in the cold all alone.
But the unforgiving blanket of snow will soon claim the crime scene, and the team are up against the clock to catalogue any vital evidence… then Casey notices strange objects arranged in patterns around the girl’s body. Among them is a selection of perfectly preserved autumn leaves that has no place in the salvage yard in the dead of winter.
When the new District Attorney goes above Casey’s head to charge Jill’s high school sweetheart with the crime, Casey is certain she’s making a mistake. The poor boy is terrified and heartbroken, but he isn’t a murderer. Casey must rush to make sense of the sparse, ritualistic evidence they have, before another life is ruined.
As the snow continues to fall, another young girl is found frozen forever, the same strange items displayed around her body in a deliberate ritual. And Casey knows now this is only the beginning… Can Casey hunt down a killer determined to add another teenage girl to his collection, before it is too late?

4.5⭐
Get ready for a thrilling ride as Detective Casey White faces her most challenging case yet!
When a high school student is accused of murdering his sweetheart Jill Carter, he is terrified and heartbroken.
But Casey's instincts scream that he couldn't be the killer. However, the new District Attorney has other ideas and is convinced of his guilt.
So, with time running out and lives hanging in the balance, Casey is determined to dig deep and uncover the truth.
Yet, just as she thinks the case couldn't get any darker another body surfaces eerily displayed just like Jill's. It's clear: a vicious killer is on the loose, and they won't stop until they've claimed more victims.
But proving a teenager's innocence whilst tracking down a ruthless killer isn't Casey's only battle. As she's also in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a creepy escaped convict. All whilst the biggest snowstorm in a decade ravages the Outer Banks.
Not to mention her private life is getting more complicated. As she and Jericho near the finish line in adopting the two children, they rescued in an earlier case. And Tracy Casey's long lost daughter starts to pull away.
And with a story that gradually builds the suspense and keeps you guessing at every turn. This instalment is an absolute gem and I couldn't recommend it more!

This is one of my favourite police procedural series and I love Casey White and the Outer Bank setting.
It's a very intense story with subplots that involves Casey's private life and past cases.
A teenager killed, a storm that cancel any trace on the crime scene, a suspect that is probably innocent. Great changes in Casey's private life, fear of losing and tensions.
This is a story that kept me on the edge and rooting for Casey as I wanted her private life be happy.
The mystery is solid and twisty, I didn't guess the twists and it kept surprising me till the end.
Plenty of suspence, character development, excellent storytelling.
Can't wait for the next story.
Many thanks to Bookouture for this digital copy, all opinions are mine.

Once again I was blown away. This case kept me guessing. All the things going on in our characters lives kept me invested. I was up way past bedtime. That ending left my jaw hanging open and excited to see where things go from here.

Oh the tension! My heart pounded in my chest! The Outer Banks is experiencing debilitating snow as never before witnessed. This is not the only storm that Detective Casey White in her team are pitted against.
In this brilliant twelfth novel in the Detective Casey White series, Casey’s most recent case breaks her heart. In fact, trauma from her past enhances her compassion for victims. In this case, the body of a young woman is found under a thick layer of snow. Casey will pull out all of the stops to bring the killer to justice.
Protecting the crime scene is near to impossible with the inclement snow, so Casey and her team are in a race against time. Conflict of another sort arises, leaving Casey to become protective over a suspect that she is sure did not commit the heinous crime. But, when the body of another young girl is soon found in the snow as well, Casey is truly scratching her head.
As with previous books in the series, this one evokes intense emotions. The dynamic between Casey’s life with her husband, Jericho, and their two adopted children, as well as her complex working relationship with Tracy Fields, provides a compelling backdrop for Casey’s struggles. The shocking and surprising conclusion will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next installment in this captivating series.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Gone in the Storm is book 12 in the Detective Casey White series by B.R. Spangler.
This book had me on the edge of my seat and flying through the pages to see what would happen next.
The story was unique and well written. This one is like a rollercoaster start to finish.
Spangler skillfully builds an atmosphere of unease, making even the most mundane moments feel ominous. The pacing is well-done, with the tension gradually escalating to a thrilling climax.
I love how Spangler does an excellent job immersing the reader with vivid descriptions and tension throughout the story.

This is book 12 in a series, and me being me, I haven't read the previous 11. Whilst I feel that this worked as a standalone story, I do think I'd have had a deeper enjoyment if I'd read the rest of the series. So I would definitely recommend starting at the beginning and reading them all. Especially if you have Kindle unlimited as they all seem to be available on there.
Gone In The Storm is told mainly from Casey's perspective, with the occasional chapter showing the murders. I really liked this way of telling the story and feel it worked really well. The pacing was spot on and steady, ramping up towards the end which is usual for this genre.
I thought the writing was spot on, with just the right level of detail for a crime novel. There was mention of s3xual abuse, and fairly descriptive depictions of murder, I did not find this upsetting/distressing at all, but readers should be aware.
The plot was exciting and well executed, although I did guess who the killer was early on. As I mentioned at the start of my review, there were elements of previous books which I'm now really keen to go back and read. I need to know more about 'the Doctor'.
This is possibly the best crime series I've ever read (part) of.

Another captivating story that hooks you from the beginning with the first murder - both the means of murder and the murder scene. At the same time, the dynamics between Casey and her daughter/co-worker Tracy are a secondary part of the story which leads to some surprising twists. And as if that isn't enough for Casey to deal with, she is also spending her late nights/early mornings working on trying to find a criminal who has escaped from jail. While you may guess at the killer prior to the ending, you will want to read to the end to tie up the mystery of the clues left at the murder scenes.

Not a junkyard dog but a junkyard death greets Casey in a cold snap in the Outer Banks.
She and her much reduced treat race to figure out who is preying on high school girls and arranging the special items left at each crime scene.
Change is swirling all around Casey and she will have to face them.
I wasn’t thrilled with the ending. I was very disappointed in Tracy. I thought she treated Casey badly.
I also wasn’t enthusiastic about the decision Casey comes to………guess I’ll have to wait and see.

Gone in the Storm by B. R. Spangler is the twelfth book in the Detective Casey White series, but it can definitely be read as a standalone novel.
When Detective Casey White is called to a murder scene in a junkyard she finds a young teenage girl, nude, with various objects placed precisely around her body. When another teenage girl is found in the exact same savage way, with a collection of objects around her, Detective White realizes there is a serial killer in the Outer Banks. Caught in a deadly cat and mouse game with the killer, can Casey find the perpetrator and put him back behind bars? Or will she herself and her family be in jeopardy?
This novel had a great plot and a pretty steady pace. I have not previously read any of the series but I don't feel like I was missing anything by the way it was written. The characters are very well written and full of emotion and the suspense does not let up. Definitely interested in checking out the rest of the series.
Thank you to NetGalley, B. R. Spangler, and Bookouture for this ARC. Expected publication date is February 24th 2025.
