Okay, let's be real, the cover of 'Pete and Suzie and the Party Penguins' is ridiculously cute! A sunglasses-wearing pelican and a penguin sporting a snazzy hat, all surrounded by a bunch of hilariously busy seagulls? Julie Sneeden, you nailed it! Kids are going to be obsessed with spotting all the funny little details in the pictures.
So, Pete the pelican and Suzie the seagull are prepping for a big diving contest, and guess who decides to crash the party? Penguins! Now, Pete and Suzie have opinions about penguins diving, mostly because they've never actually seen it. Prepare for some serious side-eye and maybe a few giggles.
Samantha Ahearne sneaks in a sneaky-good lesson about not judging a book by its, well, bird. But she does it in a way that's totally fun and not at all preachy. The characters chat and squabble like real friends, making this book a blast to read aloud. I'm already picturing a room full of kids cracking up.
Seriously, if you need a guaranteed giggle-fest, 'Pete and Suzie and the Party Penguins' is it. Perfect for ages 4-8, and let's be honest, even grown-ups will be secretly chuckling.

The illustrations in this book are good but they have too much detail. The story could do with some editing as I feel that a page has been missed out, making the story not make sense with the pictures.
If this book gets a good editor, it will be a lovely tale for a pre school child, or one who is just beginning to make sense of the written word.
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley.

Pete and Suzie and the Party Penguins is a charming children's picture book that imaginatively explains how birds (similar to people) cannot be judged by appearances and preconceived labels and expectations. The penguins in this book have been invited to a special diving competition so they can prove what excellent and gifted divers they are. Initially, the pelicans and seagulls are startled and surprised. These birds of flight can scarcely imagine how birds such as penguins, birds who have no aerodynamic prowess, can be compared as excellent divers in a category along with birds which can so exquisitely and gracefully dive from midflight into the depths of the ocean. However, the penguins quickly prove that they can dive and swim just as proficiently as the fish of the ocean.
Samantha Ahearne shows a passion for birds and wildlife through this children's book. Children will love the artwork of the illustrator as she works at providing illustrations to match this delightful prose. their teamwork helps deliver a powerful message-- stereotypes can easily be dismissed as we continually learn of the wonderful gifts and abilities of new characters we discover and meet either through books we read or people we encounter and befriend.

I think the book was just kind of meh in my opinion, the pictures were good but also were kind of creepy. But I think kids will still enjoy this book nonetheless.
Thank you NetGalley

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.
Vibrant illustrations and a humorous story.

This was a story that my 4yo enjoyed. She loved the penguins and the plot.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Netgalley ARC - Unfortunately the story is not very strong, which only compounds how scary and unsettling the birds are.

This is a cute book about differences. The seagulls didn’t know much about penguins. They learn a lot about the penguins and want to be friends.

This book seemed really random. As an adult I can see how it all ties together when I stop and really think about it. However, it’s lacking some adequate flowing. I did like how it mentioned aspects like affirmations, quick judgements, and kindness. I wish it went in better depth.

Very cute. Pictures were great, puffy was adorable. I liked the moral-you can’t judge someone’s abilities by their looks but I did feel the story was a little choppy and didn’t flow. Like I felt I missed pages.

I chose this book based off of its cover - I love a good penguin picture book! Very cute illustrations, and a good message in the end. But the title doesn't really match the plot.

Pete and Suzie and the Party Penguins is a delightfully illustrated children's book that teaches valuable lessons about self-confidence and not judging others by their appearance. The charming illustrations bring the characters to life, making it a visually engaging experience for young readers. The story’s uplifting message about self-acceptance and the power of not judging others makes this book both entertaining and educational. Perfect for kids learning about friendship and confidence, Pete and Suzie and the Party Penguins is sure to be a favorite in any child's bookshelf!

Such a cute book and great lesson! Kids will love this. The illustrations are adorable. Adorable and I recommend.

Pete and Suzie and the Party Penguins is a cute picture book about not judging a book by its cover. The illustrations definitely won the day on this one, and Puffy the penguin was absolutely delightful. Great lesson for a picture book, and fun environment and illustrations to make it more memorable!
Thanks to NetGalley, Samantha Ahearne, and Orion for the chance to read and review. My opinions are my own!

It wasn't bad at all but neither was memorable. I think it's enjoyable by a very young audience and that's not my case.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.
This was cute. The illustrations were very detailed. In an electronic copy they seem very busy but that might be because of the small screen size. It will be a cute book for kids who like birds and penguins.

The illustrations in this picture book are wonderful and capture the emotions of a crowd superbly well. The book itself comes with a simple message of accepting others and yourself.

This is an adorable story about how we should not judge things simply because we don't understand them! We follow Puffy along as he shares his fears about the diving competition while others give him a chance. When Puffy does well in the sports day he shows us that new things can be great and we should give others a chance!

A really lovely picture book about a diving competition for birds. they are confused when penguins apply to take part, s they don't know anything about these birds. However, the penguins have a great surprise for everyone, by highlighting their prowess in the water. A really great fun read, which emphasizes friendship and not being too quick to judge others.

Very cute with a good storyline! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! My 3yo enjoyed this book about how everyone is different and has different skills
